Hey everyone, sorry this is a little late.  The dicetower is a website that produces some of the top reviews (video) and podcasts in the boardgaming world.  They have a partnership with coolstuff.inc (top online retailer of boardgames) so that should tell you something.  They give excellent reviews.  For the last couple of years the show’s host Tom Vasel has allowed the people to choose the top 100 boardgames for that particular year (usually Sept.).

Tom has reviewed many many great games and is a pretty good reviewer in my opinion.  However, he has not reviewed the lastest Axis and Allies lineup.  He doesn’t really care for the game, so it gets no publicity or love- at least from him.  This is our chance to voice our opinion about AA.  900+ people have voted already and the poll can be compared to boardgamegeek.com poll.  What’s nice about the dicetower poll though is that people can only vote their games positively not vote down or negatively like boardgamegeek.com.  This give this particular poll some better credibility IMHO.

Anyway, go vote, it will take 2 minutes.

1. Go to this site: http://www.dicetower.com/

2. On the top bar click “Top 100”, then “People’s Choice Voting”

3. Register- Name and email only (emails are not shared).

4. You may be returned to the homepage after registering so then just repeat step 2, log in and vote.

Ranking your top 20 games DOES matter as games near the top will get more points.  Collectively it would help if we all could rank AAE40, AAP40 and AA1914 in the top 3 spots with maybe AA42 and AA42 after if you like.  You don’t have to fill out the rest of the spots unless you want to.  There is an automatic search engine that looks for the game as you type it in and press “search” with the corresponding BBG number (boardgamegeek.com listing).  You should always check this to ensure you have the right version as there are over 30,000 games in the BBG database.

Voting will close sometime Wednesday or Thursday Tom said so don’t delay!

Thanks for putting the G42 on there- got it.  Can’t wait to delve into this a bit.  Does anyone know if the Mongolian rules with Russia and Japan still apply since everyone is at war???

The Axis should not win unless you really out maneuver the allies. By 1942, the axis were really in a bad spot since they had not made enough gains before the US onslaught came. If you want a historically accurate game, meaning not having to play it the way the war really went, but being to make your own decisions with the conditions that existed in 1942, and want a balanced game, 1942 is not the year to start.

I would love to see a 1939 game, but I wonder if that would be too long. The 1940 2nd edition in my opinion is where you should stay. I know there is a 1941 game but have not played it.

Hey everyone, I wanted to propose a couple of sales to you (if that is legal):

1. I have some Dominion sets for sale.  Ideally I would like to get rid of the whole bunch for $150 or best offer.  All cards and boxes are in very good condition.  The collection includes:

Dominion Base- slightly used- no wear on the cards.

Intrigue, Seaside, Prosperity- barely used- each played about 5 times.

Hinterlands, Cornucopia, and Dark Ages- virtually new- each played twice.

Also includes 2 sets of the new Base Cards- new and 3 promo sets (all 5 cards)- 2 sets are still in the wrap.

2. Also, I am selling a brand new set of Shadows over Camelot with expansion for $60- that’s a steal!

(we played it for 4 days straight back in the day( & then the Game Group broke up :roll: )

I always wanted to see a stragetic minatures game on the Great War so I’m excited.
Looking forward to the release of more information but will probably Home Rule this thing
to death  :evil:  or at least paint figs to represent the Bavarian Army & Saxon Corps.

Third round games in the Gargantua tournament of Death and PAIN are being played with the Soviet bomber house ruled in.  The third round started this week and they should be worth watching!

Yep. Global has issues.

I wish the allies had more NOs and japan too, but it would make things more complicated. Maybe just nix a germany or italy NO.

So why dont’t we got the Russian Bomber ? I sure could use it, would have given Russia more options. I dont care about the UK inf in Egypt, but no Russian Bomber makes me sad. Now I have to buy it turn 1, what a waste man

Krieg has said on Larry’s site that they are happy for us to give the US  an Atlantic Destroyer and the Russians 2 Infantry. They said see if that changes things and what we thought of that.

Well, don’t worry. We are 3 vets in this team, but we managed to get sea-lionned in our first game… GG!

With about a week and half until the release of the game I was wondering if there is any word of when A&A.org doing a preview? Do you or are you getting an early copy like normal? Just curious.

Hey guys, I’ll be pretty busy over the next 3 weeks so I’m gonna ask that you be patient and wait till around June 25th for me to post next time.

I need to put all my games on hold til then b/c of vacation/weddings/birthdays and other stuff.

I will still be playing in Garg’s tourny game but that’s all I can handle right now.  Is that OK with you guys???

Only 10% believe allies have an advantage, maybe I am not so crazy after all for thinking axis advantage.

This is the first “team” game I’ve played and I really like it a lot.  I would definitely be open to playing a “team” Global or 42 game in the future.
