I have just started to play the BBR version just within the last weekend and we were able to get a few games in over the weekend. We are pretty experienced in the Axis & Allies universe as we have played on and off since the mid 80s…(yes, I am almost 60).

We did have a question about Casablanca as far as the Italian NO. Does it need to be occupied to for the Italians to receive the bonus or is just Morocco?

@questioneer Hi. I’m also a player who’s been away from playing for a long time, and I’d like to find someone to play by email. I’d like to play just regular Global 1940 (2ndEd), as I’m not interested right now learning about any of teh current versions there are (BBR) wich are (I think) far more complex.

If anyone is interested I’ll be glad to start a 1vs1 G1940 game.

Its not if you win or lose a fight but how you win or lose a fight.
If germany does its normal france attack and wins with 1 tank left they got diced pretty badly.
But since they still won you dont consider it being diced?

But with dice the problem is that on average you get the right results but if you get an outlier on the wrong point in the game you will lose the game because of that. And there is nothing you can do about it.
Germany attacking moscow with 90% odds and losing, sure russia might have had bad luck before or you might have gotten lucky somewhere else but that 1 battle makes or breaks the game.

I dont like Low Luck because its basically deterministic to the point where you know the outcome of battles. Its 2 much like playing chess. But i dont like the idea of extreme dice as well. Ideally you want to cap the outcome of a attack/defence roll to like 30-50% of the bell curve of most odds. But doing that would require some app to calculate.

Got into other games ex. TI4, Memoir 44, WOTR, Root, TMars etc.
Renegade has revived this brand! So good!
Got 2 young boys (8 and 5) getting to that boardgaming age. Time to shake off the dust on this old favorite.

Used to PBF and Triple A here for several years, Con tourneys and the like. Probably won’t go that far anymore, but looking forward to reinvesting in the AA line and playing with my boys and a couple friends again a few times a year. Curious to dig up old strategies I used to use (KGF, KJF, Sealion and other variants) for AA50, G40. Looking forward to the tactical games as well. Will they revive AA minis and War at Sea also? That would be cool.

Anybody going to Origins??? I’m bringing and running my pimped out Memoir 44 Dday set there. Anybody interested???

Thats fine.  :-) I have been gettin pieces from HBG but they are out of some. I just bought 2 new games cheap. Need about 600 pieces for another G39 game.

Still would buy a used Europe 40 and Pacific 40 games at a reasonal price.

Sorry, I’ve been busy, got grad finals coming up so I’ll be busy til May 1st or so…sorry for the delay.

Best A-bomb rule is by making OP as all hell. As-to make the other side just think ‘well i’ve lost, may as well not prolong it’.

-Rolls dice against all enemy units @ 5 or lower to kill
-Maximum damage to all facilities
-Hit any land territory you like

Another good idea it to make ALL technology incredibly powerful.
-Advanced artillery supports 3 Infantry, and 1 Tank
-Warbonds gives 3 dice worth of IPCs
-Long-range aircraft allow planes to land on islands as if they were part of the sea-zone, allows them a scramble range of 2, and for land battles
-Heavy bombers roll 3 dice and pick 2.
-Improved mech Infantry allow 1 Infantry that start in the same territory to move 2 spaces
-Rockets can destroy 1 land unit (owner chooses)

Questioneer, you still looking for a casual 1942 game? I’m assuming you’re talking about the 1942 variant to Global?

I think what also helped the USA in the Pacific was the type of war it was; wasn’t the majority of the Japanese land forces fighting in China? The USA could use their wealth of equipment and air-power to good use this way.

I like the idea of the different start-ups and scenarios and maybe more victory conditions for the Global Games.

I don’t think WW2 Axis & Allies games are dead either; I like the idea of more Theater type games as well like:
Eastern Front (have lots of territories; maybe make good use of rail-roads and blitzkrieg tactics etc… have extra "special infantry to represent the SS and other stuff)
Stalingrad would be cool…
Kursk would be cool…

Maybe some form of Atlantic Battles (subs vs convoys etc…)
Maybe some form of Battle of Britain (air battles) or some form of Bombing strategy game of the allies vs Germany (air battles).

I think there’s lots of games and ways they could still go.

I know right???  That logo is above anyone’s price range…
