    • RE: What We Want the Next AA boardgame to be.

Alright the voting has been locked.  AAE40/AAP40 is happening now.  Until those are near completion, we can only guess what the next game will be.  I am guessing Stalingrad, maybe WW1, but it doesn’t sound like Larry wants to go WW1.  He did indicate that he is working on a Middle Ages game.  Check out the thread.

    • RE: Axis and Allies 1942 Edition Fact Sheet ( AA42)

Got the 42 today.  Some observations:

      1. Russian battleship is ugly.

      2. Map is small

      3. Need to make a spreadsheet chart substituting for money. (maybe a job for Krieghund or IM to do)

      4. Sculpts are better! :-)

      5. I assume UK touches z3???

      6. Played once with friend.- possible bid given to Allies this time versus bid given to Axis in Revised.

      7. For $28 bucks I think you actually get good quality.  Overall I am pleased for being a base game. :-)

    • RE: A&A 1942 review with pics at BGG

      @FieldMarshalGames:

I always liked the idea of having money…  sometimes you can save a buck here and there for need in the future.  Also, if you have to leave a game in our group we just put our IPCs in our pcs containers and come back later.  We have never used the IPC marker boards included because any regular player can calculate IPC value at a glance…

Its just my opinion…  but I like having the money.

Today is a sad day for me, now I don’t have this game to look forward to.

Hey Field man- I like the new AA50 dice- will buy some soon- but now with AAE40 and AAP40 out you will have to make dice for the French and maybe the ANZAC powers.- can’t wait for those too. :-)

      @Imperious:

I was pretty upset when I saw the pics and final product presented

      are you complaining? :-D

Not anymore.  The announcement of AAE40 and AAP40 pretty much shut me up.

    • RE: Axis and Allies 1942 Edition Fact Sheet ( AA42)

That is so true.  I was pretty upset when I saw the pics and final product presented, but AA42 is really not for those hardcore AAgamers its for the masses to get people hooked.  I admit my anger was too premature.  Now that they are going to reprint AA50 and AAE40 and AAP40 are coming out for “us” I’m pretty happy about the AAline still.  Kreighund really help reset my perspective on this issue.  I am now buying 2 copies of the AA42- one for extra pieces for my AA50 game and one to play on occasion.

I might have missed this but are there any IPC changes to the territories???

How much does each country recieve in IPC???

      Are there still SBRs???

AA rules the same as Revised or are they like AA50?

AA50 cost to pieces I assume???

The answer is “NO”- it doesn’t live up to any hype- it lives WAY below the hype, below any of the company’s products.

After reviewing this game and it’s pics, people can see why the Reprint Petition for AA50 is important.
Now I know why they call the people at WOTC- chimps.

    • RE: A&A 1942 review with pics at BGG

Wow, thanks for the pics.  I was gonna buy 3 of these, now I will only buy 1 for a cheap price.  I will mainly use it for extra new sculpt pieces for my AA50 game.

I am pretty disappointed, I will probably try this game here at the forums with the new rules but I am afraid to say this is a real debbie downer from AA50.

This AA42 game looks absolutely pathetic.  It is a very “cheap” version of AA50.

New sculpts- hardly.  The map is ugly (country sizes and borders- not art).

If they keep this up WOTC is going to run AA into the ground. :|

    • RE: Triple A is AWESOME

Panther your right.  The only reason for WOTC to go after TripleA is so that they can pave the way for an upcoming CD version of the game which rumor suggests without any competetion (free software).  I predict that it will come Christmas of 2010.  ABattlemap should be safe from harm.

WOTC never ceases to amaze me with their ingenuity.

    • RE: Triple A is AWESOME

I have the TripleA version downloaded to my computer.  I have never played a game with it yet since it has been pretty buggy- though getting better.  I like to use the battle simulator though and figure out some openings on it.

So… I’m not terribly disappointed its gone, but a lot of people who play it are.
I love the AABattlemap and PBF forum here- it works the best for me. :-)

Triple A has just been shutdown!!! :-(

      Please read:

      http://triplea.sourceforge.net/mywiki/Forum#nabble-td3251158|a3251158

djensen- what does this mean for PBF at axisandallies.org???  I’m going to assume that this is not a threat to the site since the AABattlemap doesn’t really count as a “clone”.

My supplier, who does get word from Wizards from time to time said that WOTC is planning on making another CD game version of the game based off of the AA42 and/or AA50 boardgame version.

Ok, just to make sure.  In my bracket- I play AA44.  Jen waits for the winner between us.  Pin and Demoman begin round 2.  So the 3rd person list is the one that waits for a winner between the 1st two listed (prelim) and the last two listed play round 2 (byes for prelim round).  Correct???
