Nevermind- looks like according to the China box that China does earn IPC’s and spends them right???

I’m assuming China earns infantry in the same way as AA50- 1inf per 2IPC territories owned???

RE: Global Gameposted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940

RE: Schedule of previews of AAP40posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
According to the post, a minor IC can be “upgraded” to a major IC for $20.
If minor IC cost $12 and major IC cost $30 why would the upgrade be $20 and not $18 (30-12=18)???

RE: Pacific 1940 review copy has arrivedposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
They are part of the standard game. If not, there would be no reason to go after the islands with no point values.
Guess what, D.J. Razor dont like the NO’s. They just dont fit. An island have a strategig value in itself, since you can build airfields and ports there. Also in this game we have convoys. And the classic system with IPC income from territories. Then Razor figure that NO’s will be like fat on butter. We dont need it, its just one more thing to keep track on. Razor will mail Larry tonight, the game is not out yet, it is still time to change the rules.
You think *Razor is kidding ? Look at the rational behind NO’s. Japan control Wake and get 7 IPC as NO. Usa control Wake and get 3 IPC as NO. Aussie control Wake and get 1 IPC as NO. India control Wake and get 0. Go figure.
I hear that you become much cooler when you talk about yourself in the third person- Altertag

RE: Slightly nerdy question about the upcoming 1940 game maps…posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
@Craig:
Welcome, thethedew!
No, the maps aren’t designed to work that way, though there’s nothing stopping you if you really want to do it. I’ve actually tried playing with them joined at the US, and it really messes with your thinking in central Asia. It’s just better to do it the traditional way, with the map edges in an area of the globe that doesn’t see much action.
So……YOU HAVE PLAYED AAE40!!! Already?
Yes, he has. Someone has to playtest the games.
And yes I brought this topic up when looking over the Global rules since it wasn’t stated in a way I thought that it should be. Luckily it was cleared up to my satisfaction and the map goes together in Asia.
Yes according to the pics of the P40 map- there is no border so you could place the maps joined at US or Asia (assuming the E40 map is the same)- anyway you like-that’s kind of a nice option. :-)

Tell me David, are the NO’s optional, or part of the standard game ?
Unless they of a strategic value as in the old Pacific- but I understand, the NOs give you more incentive.
When is your next article on the rules and such???–I know, pathetic, like I can’t wait a week when I get the game.

RE: Just How Old Are We Axis and Allies Players?posted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
I was 12, bought my first copy in 1987 (must have been the 86 version)- also bought Shogun later- awesome game!!! I played it for about 3-4 summers with my baseball buddies after games/practices. We would always play with all 5 players, roll the dice on the pool table and battle. It brings back great memories. We had some legendary battles!!!
Played only a couple of times during high school, then put it down- played lots of sports then. After 10-11yrs I happen to see Europe and Pacifc at the store- talk about a revival!! I bought both games and read the instructions during my 2-week honeymoon in the Keys- pretty sad I know. My wife is very gracious though- not a big AA fan but loves Catan!!!
It doesn’t surprise me to see that most of the AA community is in their 30s- we all grew up with the game in the 80s. Its nice to see the 20’s and Teens players get involved and discover this classic series. I believe Axis and Allies will continue to rise as a classic like Monopoly, Risk and Catan! The Revisions this decade have been fantastic!! :-)
One of my favorite games- I was Japan and holding on to the island of Japan (that’s all I had left after 15 rounds or so) but I had some 80 infantry, 40 tnks and about 25 ftrs and 10bmrs on it- we were playing total domination. My friend said “Give up already!!!”, I said “NO you haven’t beat me yet!!”- he finally quit and I claimed victory. I didn’t lose too many games in those days- very competitive.
At 34, I still love it and play when I can!!

RE: Rules Q&Aposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Jensen,
How many tact bombers does Japan have in the set??
How many do you think are needed??
This is exactly why I preordered 2 of them- WOTC/AH especially of late (ex. AA1942) seem to be cheaping out on their products- you can tell they cut some corners in Pacific40 also. :-(

AA Battlemap for P40???posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
So now that the map is out, is someone making the ABattlemap for Pacific 40 so we can play it in a couple a few weeks? :?

Here are some initial shots of the game. It’s too slow to upload 12 photos to the forum so I put them on Facebook (no Facebook account required to view) …
http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=130256&id=123067070744&ref=mf
If somebody wants to repost them here in this forum, please do so. I’ve already wasted enough time at work on this. :-)
Nice pics, love the “pewter” color of the ANZAC- really smooth- all the colors have been great,
map seems very quality.
I still will probably use the money from my old Pacific- still very new +
I will still use the ICs and AA units from Pacific too- still like markers though.
I can just put a red chip under it for the major factories.Glad I preordered 2 because I knew that they cheap out on some pieces and chips.
I guess if China wants artillery then they get it from US.
Questions- what are the 5 markers to the far left of the marker sheet???
Is the map all one piece or 2???
Is the box smaller than AA50??- looks like it but thicker- for the foldable map I guess.Close ups on the pieces - tact bomb and halftracks especially would be nice- though I can see parts of them- they look sweet from what I can tell.
Overall, looks like some nice packaging. They definitely condensed some items to cheapen the price a bit from AA50- didn’t take away any quality though- very nice.

RE: How is 1940 Pacific going to BALANCE with 1940 Europe?posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Thanks for that, Craig. What I don’t know, however, are the dimensions of the original board. Does this represent an enlargement of that board, or are the two roughly the same size? _MIR
Dimensions are (width by height in inches):
AA 42: 33 X 20 (32X17 if you dont count the production chart)
AA 41: 45 X 23.5 (AA50)
AA 40: 35 X 35 (Individual games as per Yope)
70 X 35 (Combined games as per Yope)Hope that gives you some idea. :-)
Technically
AA42: 32 X 20 (32 X 16 w/o Production Chart)
AA50: 42 X 24
AA40: 35 X 32 (each)
70 X 32 (global) -
RE: Release Date is December 15, 2009posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
And I’m hoping to get my review copy within the next week or two. This time it will be a few more weeks before the release and I’ll actually be around.
Hey djensen, when you get your copy please share some new pics with us of the game and its components!!!
I really believe that this game with E40 will surpass AA50 hands down. I’m predicting that when we have both games “AA40” will replace AA50 as the “premier/deluxe” game.
I still think AA50 should get at least one more print as I consider this the real “base” game over AA42 (kiddie meal version), but I wonder if anyone will be playing it anymore after AA40 is distributed.
Also, I hope E40/P40 is NOT a limited version either. AH/WOTC- aka- chimps- might wait to see how the they sell first. As for me, just like I did with AA50 (bought 2 early), I’m not taking chances- already preordered 2 copies. :-)

RE: Release Date is December 15, 2009posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Hey, one month to go so that we can be salivating for the E40 game!!!
Seriously, when E40 comes out will we seriously be wanting to play Pacific or Europe only- of course not- everyone’s gonna want to play the big G40 game!!! :-)
-
RE: Where to Buy the Game?posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Got my 2 P40 games preordered!!
Also, the good thing about waiting 8-9 months for E40 is that since there are new units, costs and additional rules, and many more territories and sea zones than before, it will take some time to get used to the new aspects of the game.
AA50 had new territories and a couple of new rules and such but the sea zones remained nearly the same. It was truly a “deluxe” version of Revised. G40 by comparison will truly be a new dynamic game.
Waiting 8-9 more months for the other one is tough but it will give everyone time to get used to the play of these new games. By the time E40 comes out, it will be an easier transition to G40- believe me that’s the ONLY good thing about waiting!! :-)

RE: Does Risk suck?posted in Other Games
Risk compared to AA sucks. But otherwise its OK at best- Risk 2210 is pretty decent.
