@barnee We could do with a beer, beer and more beer-focused quartermaster. Perhaps you would like to volunteer?

@redrum Hehehe! At least I can stop buying ships now. My Turkish allies can fight their own naval war!

RE: Taking French Indo China without a J1 DOWposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
My usual approach is to take FIC J1, the only downside being the net loss of 8 income, but to delay a DoW until J2, or even J3, but which time I have the factory ready to produce there.
I also like a naval base to give my fleet a threat on India and peg GB back, but it is hard to find the money.
And an air base would truly be the icing on the cake! If only ….:relaxed:
P.S. I should add that I think that Japan is the most difficult power to play - which is likely to mean I am not very good with them!:white_frowning_face:

@Wittmann @barnee If Leo overcomes his fear of heights, inability to navigate and blindness I will just have to change the venue without telling him!

This could be one of the most one sided games of 1914 I have played. The CPs are making no progress despite our British pluck, derring-do and superior military nous. Are we letting these transatlantic ruffians get the better of us?:facepunch:

Just bought Gold David. Thanks.

RE: Quick game/rule question.posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
@NicoMalakai My good friend @Wittmann is right for once, although it hurts me to say it!
One the other hand, allies that talk over every move ad nauseam become a bore for everyone else. So keep the discussion within reasonable bounds. For example, limit it to topics where a degree of co-operation is required.

@Private-Panic Can you edit my French Cruiser to SZ71. Garg doesn’t need my ship in SZ69. He can easily see off those Turks.
Thanks PP.I believe I am Russia in this game, Leo. Not sure who Austria is but no doubt they will do that for you.:relaxed:

RE: Axis vs Allies Win Ratiosposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Axis win almost always - which is why users of this forum use a technique called “bidding” to even the game up. Each side bid to be allies: “I will be allies for 40 ipcs” that bid declining until the other side says “okay then - you can be allies”.
A typical bid to win the allies might be 20-30 ipcs or thereabouts. These are then placed on the board. Usual rules being not more than 1 unit in any territory or sea zone plus only in territories or sea zones already containing units.
Edited: Whoops! My first reply thought this was on the 1942.2 board, so now changed to 40G bid levels.

Autumn 2020 Battle of Britain - 25th October 2020posted in Events
Optimism rules OK! :hand_with_index_and_middle_fingers_crossed:
We will be playing on the 25th October. If coronavirus does not allow us to wage war face to face then the more addicted among us will play via Zoom.
Our face to face venue is in Derbyshire, UK.
Thus far we have 7 players, with space for another 6 at the venue. Those places will be allocated to those that come forward first. Since we have 8 regular players that have not yet responded it is possible that someone will be disappointed.
If anyone else wishes to join us then please either reply to this thread or drop me a PM.
(PS The Winter event will be on 7th February 2021)

RE: Kill Italy First - An Alternative Central Powers Strategyposted in Axis & Allies 1914
Interesting. Not something I have tried but I can see the argument that the capture of Rome is achievable, perhaps more so than Moscow given the number of units Russia can consolidate at the start of the game.
My doubt is holding on to Rome as the USA arrives and Turkey struggles against the UK.
Something new to try! Thanks for sharing. :slightly_smiling_face:

RE: Hi everyone! New player from Southern UK!posted in Welcome
@gnark1ll Hello and welcome to the forum. @Witt has already mentioned the Battle of Britain, which is a quarterly event open to all A&A players, so just get in touch with me if you want to know more.
I do have a list of A&A players across the UK and may be able to point you at players more local to you if you wish. Again - just get in touch.
Cheers
Adam / Private PanicP.S. In case there is some confusion we play A&A 1942, Anniversary and 1914 - not a game called Battle of Britain

RE: London, England Any Playersposted in Player Locator
There are 4 London players I know of that have been members of this forum in the last couple of years:
IcyFirefly
kiritimati
SpitfirED
Moltke the YoungestIf you check their member pages you will discover whether they still visit the forum and even if not they may have included their e-mail address. If that does not help feel free to drop me a PM as I have the email for a couple of them.
If you ever fancy a trip up to Derbyshire to join us at the Battle of Britain, then let me know.
Cheers
