If I got you right it seems to be unpredictable which kind of pieces is likely to run out first (since the variety of directions this game can take is too high).

Difficult decision now: I could purchase AAP40 for nearly 40 Euros this evening (special offer) and wait a while to purchase AAE40 afterwards. But I am bothered with the fact that global A&A needs so many players (as I don’t like attaching two or more nations to one player).

Any comments on my thoughts?

I am thinking about purchasing AA42.

However, some reviews on German amazon told me that there are far too less pieces in this edition.

According to your experience, which pieces do you think are most likely to run out, e.g. German tanks more likely than Russian aircraft carriers.
