      @MrMalachiCrunch

      Wow, 55’’ is a decent device to track played moves, if you ask me…  :wink:

      You are right and I will certainly have a look at games having been played on TripleA. I think replaying certain moves will definitely give me a useful insight.
      However, when looking at the ,sheer’ actions, newbies like me are not always able to trace back which consideration a certain decision based upon. So an explanation by the players or a ,commentator’ would turn out to be extremely helpful (like “After Action Reports” in other games).

      @Bunnies:

      I play on TripleA.  Your comment on context is dead on.  I would have commented more, only people tend to fall asleep when I go on.  And on.  And on.   :roll:

      Well, if you experienced this, it’s a pity. Actually, I am completely convinced that if you (or Hobbes or someone else) posted a game here with screen shots explaining to what extent the moves have been turned out as ,good’ or ,bad’ moves or which moves were supposed to be a promising strategy, many new players and newbies (like me) would be utterly grateful to you for such an effort. Moreover, I am quite sure that we could learn a lot! Not everyone has the board completely in mind as the best players here seem to have.

      So, without any intention of sucking up to you, I could listen to you (i.e. reading you comments) as long as you are willing to do so…

      @Hobbes:

      I play almost everyday nowadays, either around 5 pm or 12 pm GMT, if anyone is interested in having a look.

      You apply the same nickname there, I suppose?

      @Zhukov and Hobbes:

      Would it be possible that you guys (or some other of the ,AA-elite’) sometimes play a ,public game’, announcing it one day before, since it depends on pure luck to catch up with you in the TripleA-lobby.

      That would be a very great help for the absolute beginners (to which group I belong too).

    • RE: AAG40 FAQ

      Quote from wikipedia-article about “Axis and Allies”

      “To streamline the game and correct balance issues, Global 1940 is under revision and a new ruleset will be published in 2011”.

      I guess this means that only new rules will be published 2011 (But how? Downloadable rulebooks on the official website?) or is there a plan to launch a complete new set (with new boards etc.)?

      @Gargantua:

      Play global FIRST before you do this,

      What you are describing would be an ABORTION.

      Did I mention that I plan to revise the setup? No, I was just asking about already established rules. But I would have certainly sought your permission before inventing new variants…  :roll:

    • RE: AAG40 map with AA42 equipment

      Pity. Anyway, thanks for the prompt and informative reply.

      I would have thought of taking off all troops of China, ANZAC, Italy and France, in order to prevent boosting other powers too much (as you mentioned it, e.g. inadequately increasing Britain’s forces by merging their troops with ANZAC).

    • AAG40 map with AA42 equipment

      Hey guys,

      as all of you know, AAG40 involves the additional nations of China, ANZAC, France and Italy in contrast to AA42, where only Germany, England, US, Japan and the Soviet Union are set up on the board.

      My question: Are there any rules here available that use the AAG40 map with only the five nations of AA42? That means only German, English, American, Japanes and Soviet troops being placed on the map with no further involvement of the minor powers mentioned above.

      Thanks
      Polybios

    • RE: Duration of one game

      @Gargantua:

      That makes it obviously quite difficult to persuade other people to play with me…

      Lie.

      It’s only that long now, because people are still JUST starting to play.

      Do you mean that with more experience (after how many games?) sessions will take less hours than displayed by the poll?

    • RE: Duration of one game

      Hey guys,

      as it looks right now, after 21 voters having joined the poll, nearly 50% of all games exceed 10 hours.

      That makes it obviously quite difficult to persuade other people to play with me…  :cry:

      Perhaps purchasing AA42 would be a better idea, since my friends do not prefer games, which take more than 6 hours (they refuse to play Diplomacy again as well).

      Anyway: thanks to everyone having joined the poll and having given me a useful insight into how long AAG40 usually takes…

      I voted 9-10 hours.  because there is always stopping for snacks, re-filling drinks and general chatter etc…

    • Duration of one game

      Hi,

      as I wrote on another thread, I am thinking about purchasing both AAE40 and AAP40. Therefore, I just want to ask you, how long a Global game will take until Axies or Allies surrender.

      Thanks for all the votes that will be given!

    • RE: The unevitable question of pieces

      @Hobbes:

      On my games, Japanese tanks and US transports since you’ll have to split the stacks through a number of territories/SZs. German tanks are not really an issue since I try to concentrate as many of them as possible in a single territory…

      Thanks Hobbes! Every experience or opinion by an A&A veteran makes it easier for me to make a list of most likely run-out pieces!  :-)

      Many thanks for this advice. I do hope they do not get “out of stock” and carry on delivering all these beautiful items (which are not cheap though, but that’s of no importance) for a long time.

      Alright, if miniatures for AA42 are enough, do any other people here have experiences with AAG40? Which kind of pieces are most likely to run out?

      How’s the situation with AAE40 and AAP40? Do these editions have enough pieces?
