Got mine today!  Hopefully WOTC learns that its not that hard to please its customers, they just want what they paid for!  I just hope the Europe version doesn’t have a similar issue.  I would wait a little longer for the release if that meant that the game came ready to play as soon it was delivered.  All complaints aside, thanks WOTC for following through!

Yep, finally got my replacements also!  New battle strip and 6 Jap tac bombers.  I have to say I’m pleasantly surprised how quickly they arrived.  Hopefully everyone else who is on the list begins to get theirs as well.

One thing you could try would be to transport the AA gun in Manchuria further south to help protect your land units.  Just move it during your non-combat move to keep it on the front line of your push into India.

I’m kind of confused.  Some people have posted saying that WOTC wanted the old battle strip in return for the new one, while others said that sending an email was enough.  I’ve sent the email and have been added to the list, but I just want to be sure that is all I need to do.

True, it is a more attractive model.

I think the reason they used the P-38 model was because it was the only fighter to be produced in large numbers from Pearl Harbor to VJ day.  Mustangs didn’t appear until towards the end of the war.  Also, the top two aces of WWII flew  P-38’s.

I’m not so sure because there is not a threat to India from Japan so UK could concentrate solely on its capital.  If Japan pushes the western United States and the Soviets keep the Germans busy, then I don’t see how UK would automatically fall.  At least for 3-5 turns.

The only way ANZAC could take control of Malaya would be if India and Malaya are under Japan’s control.  If ANZAC invaded and wins, then Malaya’s IPC’s go to ANZAC.  However, once India is liberated, then control reverts back to UK.

The errata says that if the US is not at war, then it cannot use an allied power’s naval base.  So does that mean that it can use allied air bases?

I believe they can.  The errata states: “In addition to these restrictions, when not at war the United States may not attack neutral territories.  It also may not move units into territories or onto ships belonging to another power or use another power’s naval bases.  This includes Dutch territories.”  So I’m assuming that if the US is at war, then they can move units into allied territory which includes any Dutch territory.  However, if the US lands aircraft there, they would not gain any IPC’s.  The errata states: " Once a Dutch territory has been captured by Japan, however, it may be captured and controlled by any power."  So in order for the US to take control of Dutch territory, it must have previously been captured by Japan.  This doesn’t apply to UK or ANZAC.  They have a special arrangement with the Dutch.  See the errata for more details.  I hope this helps and if I’m wrong, then hopefully someone corrects me.

Does anyone have the address to send the defective battle strip?  I thought the info was going to be posted today on WOTC.com but I cant find it.

My foremost wish is a quality game with easy to understand rules, plenty of pieces/chips, and a nice finished feeling.  NO CHEAP COP-OUTS!!!

In that case, any hits scored by the fighters have to be assigned to the AC.  The only units that can hit the subs are the cruisers and that is only if the subs decided not to submerge.  Plus they would get their suprise strike.  They can submerge because there is no enemy destroyer.  Basically, destroyers are anti-sub units.  Also, remember that hits scored by subs can never be assigned to aircraft.

I believe the rules state that attacking or defending subs can only be hit by air units if there is a destroyer present friendly to the aircraft.  If you are the attacker, then the destroyer must be yours.  If you are the defender, then it can be yours or one of your allies’.  Check the errata for details.

I dont see why not.  Nothing that I saw in the rules prohibits that.  Restrictions on newly captured territories apply only to building IC’s/Units and landing aircraft.

UK and ANZAC would play a huge roll in this.  If they build 1 sub per turn and your entire navy is off the coast of the US, then they are free to roam the pacific doing convoy disruptions and killing your transports.  I think this would make the US attack unaffordable and result in a quick loss.  Not to mention, that the entire time you are ignoring them they are just refortifiying their defenses.

My first game was on Thanksgiving 2009 actually.  A friend brought it over and I watched half a game and demanded to be part of the next one.  Ever since then I’ve been hooked and have bought AA42, AAP40 and AA Revised.  What an awesome game!

I haven’t played this version yet and I’ve been invited to play sat.  I have played AA42 and AAP40.  We plan on drawing countries randomly.  Any advice for the new guy?
