I like to build a major IC in Rom too. That way, if on G2 you attack Bessarabia and W-Ukr and build 10 tanks/mech infs in Rom, you can then on G3 attack the IC in Ukraine with all the troops from Bessarabia and W-Ukr AND the 10 tanks/mechs. On G3 you build 10 tanks/mechs on Rom again, so on G4, those 10 tanks/mechs can head for Bryansk with all the guys from W-Ukr. On G5 you now have a superior attack force on Bryansk, supported by air and by the 3 tanks you built on G4 in Ukraine, and you take Moscow on G5. You can even shortcut by not taking Ukr, and take Moscow on G4.

I don’t think it’s realistic to assume that the UK player dives its Med fleet to India if Germany builds 3 transport G1. If I were UK I’d move the Med fleet to Gibraltar and up to SZ 110. Maybe build a few dd as fodder. You would then have a pretty big fleet waiting in SZ110 on G3 and a blocker dd in SZ111.

    • RE: Southern France for Germany

Last game as Germany I took all my aircraft (-1 to defend Italy) and all my warships to attack SZ109, 110 ,111, 112, UK scrambled 3 fgts on 110, I had some bad dice, lost a few aircraft and failed to sink the 2 battleships. I had planned to invade Russia on G2 (had built a Major IC in Romania for that purpose) but I had to wait a turn to get the luftwaffe back in order. Won’t make the same mistake again. I agree that it is key to sink a few big Navy ships on G1 but best to limit your losses to subs by not overstretching and then strike again G2 or G3.

It’s key not to overstretch the UK Navy attack on G1. You need those planes for Russia, and 1 or 2 or 3 ships remaining for UK does not make all the difference - it still has to wait 4 turns for the S to come in and help them make a landing in Europe

How? Landing on Malta counts as a move right?

    • RE: Southern France for Germany

From my limited AAG40 experience i can say this much: I think it’s not a bad idea in itself to have a G. IC on the Med for emergency purposes but I think the sole focus in turns 1-6 should be Russia. Germany should be spending at least 40 IPC a turn on the Russian front by churning out tanks and mechs in Romania and Ukraine and take Moscow asap or it will ultimately be locked in on all 3 sides of the board. So “hobbies” like building a G. fleet in the Med, trying to get exotic NO’s and preparing Sealion may look good when you are still your own boss in Europe, but are keeping you from where you really need to be acting - Russia

    • Scrambling after combat in same turn

Is scrambling after combat in the same turn allowed? For example, fighter attacks ships in SZ112 on G1 from W-Germany and lands in Southern Italy. When UK attacks Italian ships in SZ117 on UK1, can my German fighter scramble to their rescue? Or is its turn “used up” because scrambling is seen as a combat move since you can choose to scramble (as opposed to defending a territory, where you don’t have that choice)? Thanks a lot
