    • Amur/Mongolia rule check

If USA lands a bomber in Amur and Japan attacks that bomber with their own bomber, does Mongolia trigger?  Thanks in advance.

Also, if you have a feeling your opponent is going to blitz Russia like that, make your bid 12 IPC and place 4 Russian infantry on the front lines.

If Japan is waiting until turn 4 and Germany launches Barbarossa turn 1 then UK is the key to winning that game.  Start a transport convoy from Union of SA to Egypt and take Persia round 1 so you can complex it round 2.  Get UK pac up to 20+ (easily done with j4 DoW) and begin linking UK forces from Africa and Asia into Persia.  With the presumably heavy casualties Germany will suffer taking out Russia, the UK force in Persia should be quite a match by turn 6+.  UK might not be able to win the attrition battle against a German controlled USSR, but a join SA, Persia, India complex chain (even Egypt if you have lots of money) should be able to hold out at least until turn 10 or 11.  Plenty of time for USA to get into the action.

I guess i am in the minority here.  I like turn three barborossa.  I ball up a large stack and go straight for Moscow by turn 6.

    • RE: What exactly is bidding?

Hi guys! Just wanted to let you know what a standard bid for revised is.  I’m 350-112 in revised and have won several online tournaments for it.  Essentially a 7g bid (placed in Libya) is generally considered an equalizer for revised.  I open my bids for tourny games at 8G.  I would also advise against a Japan bid as you will really need those 2 units to secure Egypt.  You don’t want to play a game where UK counters Egypt on turn 1, its horrible for Germany.

    • RE: Japan ICs/tanks vs. transports/infantry

what Hobbes is saying is 100% true.  But, where tanks become a real problem for the allies is on Persia.  Stack 8+ there and use German force to open Kazhak.  Even if the Allies know to look for it, the mere threat of it is often enough for them to give up the Caucausus complex.

    • RE: German Tactics (first time German, need to pwn my friends)

There are no early victories in A&A revised.  Plan on winning the long game.  Buy lots of infantry and find a way to equalize the IPC production.  The best way to do this is take Africa, but Northern Russia and Caucasus are another way to do this.

    • Need advice for Japan

I will be playing my first game as Japan soon and wanted to run my strategy by some people who have more experience.  Here is the general outline of what i am going to do, numbered in order of importance.
      1. Pressure the USA fleet and try and keep them on their side of the Pacific.  I plan on buying at least one carrier a turn and loading them up with my many planes.
      2. Grab the rich islands in the Dutch East Indies, and the Japanese national objective.
      3. Keep ANZAC and India’s IPCs down by taking Malaya and New Guinea.
      4. Go light into China.  Just enough to protect the high IPC zones i start with and keep China in check.
      5. After i have achieved the 4 previous goals i want to start invading Australia.  My 6 planned VCs are: Manila, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Pearl Harbor, Sydney, and Shanghai.

My German partner is planning 3rd turn sealion.  I am hoping this draws America’s attention to the Atlantic more than he should and that i may be able to claim an early victory in the Pac.  Any advise on what i am planning here?  Has anyone tried something similar and if so, what problems did you face?  Thanks in advance.

      @KillOFzee:

      @techroll42:

      Well there’s the problem!

You simply cannot let Russia hold those lands. Bild transports if need be. That $$ is why you had trouble.

Agreed. If Russia can pool enough men up north to take Finland, hit it in the South and take its valuable Southern Territories. Caucasus and Volgogorad alone are worth 14 IPCs in TT value and NOs. If you can rush to take these, and then fortify them, Germany will be sitting in some deep cash to use against Russia.

That is exactly what i did.  I was in Stalingrad on turn 5.

    • RE: The Russian bear!

Yes, the Russian player was very good.  It helped him that i used my German transport to snag Gibraltar on G2 and therefore had no way of reclaiming Finland and Norway when he captured it.  He was cranking out 40+ IPCs a turn because he had two pro Axis/German territories, even when i was deep inside Russia.

    • The Russian bear!

I just completed my 3rd every global 1940 game.  I played Germany and the allies conceded after Moscow fell on turn 8.  However, i was shocked by the fight Russia was able to put up.  I sent all three countries at Russia.  Japan attacked turn 1 into Amur (Russian stack pulled back) and attacked through china towards Russia.  Germany and Italy followed with Barbarossa on turn 3.  I went heavy Mech/tank with Germany and used Italy to punch holes in the Russia line for my blitz.  After opening Rostov with Italy, Germany was in Stalingrad and Cauc on G5.  Despite the triple team, Russia had muscled their way into Finland and Norway (huge IPC shift!) and had a large stack in Bryansk.  If i didn’t have a lucky victory where 14 German tanks killed 20 Russian inf in Bryansk (with only 4 casualties) then Russia would have likely repulsed my 3 country invasion.

    • RE: UK Convoy raiding

There are two main reasons i favor going for convoy disruption as Germany:
      1. You will have to fight UK regardless and it is strategically better to pin them in their own SZs by fighting them in the N-Atlantic than fighting them in Norway or France.
      2.  Italy needs all the help they can get.  By attacking British convoys you drain their income they are collecting and forcing UK to spend resources to defend those convoys.  Resources that could otherwise be used to smash Italy.

    • RE: Need help with my Barbarossa

Barborossa first is about 2 things: Speed and complexs.  Don’t listen to old school revised players who point out that two infantry will always defeat one tank.  That maybe true if the units are fightning in a phone booth (no movement), but you need fast tanks and mechs to keep Russia on its heels.  Attacking on G3 in optimal, as it allows you to return your tanks and mechs from France and gives you that large purchase with the plundered French money.  When you invade Russia, secure the Ukraine complex and Lennigrad by the 2nd turn of your invasion.  After that, press south grab Stalingrad, and the rich IPCs of Southern Russia.  Again, speed is essential, mechs and tanks will keep Russia on its heels better than slow ass art/inf.  Those units are better used to defend W-Europe when the allies start landing.

    • RE: Ruling Question

I need another ruling as well.  If there are two German U-boats in SZ 106 (using Alpha 2 rules), do they cut 3 IPCs total: 1 from New Brunswick and 2 from Quebec?

    • Ruling Question

I read a ruling on this once, but i can’t remember the answer.  If Germany invades Canada does this allow the USA to make a declaration of war?

    • RE: Italy

Does your UK player fall asleep at the table?  I can easily manhandle Italy with UK using just the units UK starts the game with.  When USA comes over on turn 4, Italy is in serious trouble.
