      I do this as a bid because it greatly increases Japan’s options on round 1. While a transport bid to SZ50 does allow for a possible invasion of Hawaii its other options are rather limited.

      The transport added to the E. Indies fleet not only allows the mentioned amphibs but is also fodder if need be for a strike on British naval units in sz30 or sz34.

      Again I think it gives Japan the MOST options on round one.

      personally if i got a 11 ipc bid it would be 1 fig to Germany then 1 ipc to Japan. then i’d build 4 figs as Germany first round. it seems interesting to do.

      @Craig:

      @Cmdr:

      I am too.  But it’s nice to read some of the writer’s REASONS they made the changes.  Though, since Larry did sign off on them, I never questioned their validity - especially since AAMC, FoE, DAAK and AA.org have all adopted them as the primary rule set.

      Larry did more that just sign off on the LHTR.  He has always been actively engaged in the discussions on all the topics.

      Changes have been made because he wanted them made, but he has also accepted the arguments of others as valid for other changes.  It has been a very fruitful exchange of thoughts and ideas.

      Craig

      I didn’t mean to imply that he took a passive role in the creation of the rules. (ie just signing them.)  I mean that he agreed to the rules BY signing them.  I’m sure he argued his case, looked at the evidence, and made decisions as well.

      ?

      @U-505:

      I see no reason to use the bomber for SBR’s except when you are losing badly and you need to gamble. It is much more useful as a long range 4 based out of Southern Europe so it can threaten just about anything worth killing.

      YES! the BOM is extremely versatile. I use it mainly in North Africa to support operations there and to give naval operations a boost. It never hurts to use it as ground support for a while and then when Germany starts to get a little fatter or thinner in the IPC realm then think about using it as an SBR. I’ve also found that using it in conjunction with submarines, depending on the game, is a great deterent to the US player wanting to use TRNs to invade N. Africa.

      I sent a pm to rjclayton a few days ago when this first started happening for us, informing him of the error.  He seemed to be one of the folks most closely associated with TripleA based on some of his posts.  I don’t know if he was the right person or not, but I haven’t heard anything back.

      I do have to agree, working the summary manually has been pretty easy, but I think there’s a bit more controls in place if it’s all done in one step.  Not an issue for your average game, but if things get crazy competitive it’s something that might be nice to have for game admins/judges.

      @Hobbes:

      Hm? I’ve been playing triplea for quite a while and I’ve never seen that option available (especially considering how easy it would allow to change a saved game…). Are you sure you’re taking of triplea or of that other mapping util? (map view? I dont use so I’m not sure of the name)

      Yes, this is TripleA.  It’s a hacked version, based on the 0.8.2.2 kernel.  Which is why ppl running newer version don’t have these features (the hack is only compatible with the old kernel).

      The good news is that tonez has been working on rolling these hack changes into the sourceforge project for tripleA, so future versions should all have these features, and we shouldn’t have this situations where some people are running incompatible versions.  Unfortunately, it takes time, which is the only reason it’s not already done.

      Once the new (unstable) release comes out, it should have these features (plus a few more).  At least I hope it will.

      Arrows are what I hate most!  They clutter the board needlessly.

      I’d rather type.  I’m a fast typist though.

      @AJ:

      What is FIDA?

      http://aamc.net/bunker/forumsql/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=68

      All AARevised games played in AAMC use FIDA bidding unless the players agree to another bid system prior to the game starting.  FIDA stands for Flames of Europe, IAAPA, DAAK and AAMC, the four clubs that developed the bidding system.  Under FIDA bidding, each player submits a number of IPCs for a bid.  The lower bid plays Axis.  Up to half of the value of those IPCs can be placed on the mapboard prior to the start of the game in new units.  Germany can place units in territories and sea zones that already contain German units.  Japan can place units in territories and sea zones that already contain Japanese units.  Neither Axis player can place units in territories or sea zones where it does not already have units.  The remaining balance of IPCs from the bid can be given to either Germany or Japan or split in whatever manner the Axis player chooses.

      Example of a bid:  15, 1 Inf in Ukraine, 1 Rtl in Libya, 6 IPC Germany, 2 IPC Japan.

      Correct, the “Edit Post” feature was locked out of Games area more than a year ago to prevent moves from being edited.

      It has worked well.

      Edit should work everywhere else.
