      Can you make Bessarabia a little larger? (Also, you could give Crete simply a roundel of the Greek Flag)

    • RE: Adjusting IPC income on 1941 map

      Forcing players to deal with low IPCs does not help introduce the series. I played with many people who were new, and they found that the IPCs restricted things too much. The board has too many territories with no value of any kind (splitting the panama, french west africa, okinawa, iwo jima). The way the territories connect does not scream entry game. Far too many sea zones. The map itself is too large, as are the pieces, they should get shrunk down, and become magnetic to make the game portable, with the board played on a plastic casing to play the pieces in for later. The setup should be imprinted on the map to save time having to look back at something. The instruction book is too long, simplify the text and use images more so to explain, with just a brief text explanation instead of 3-4 paragraphs worth. No one who is being introduced is willing to read through 30 pages of mostly text to get an idea of how to play.

      No one wants to play as Russia from what I gathered, they are too weak, it seems with every release they get weaker and weaker, with this release, they don’t even have to be part of the victory conditions.

    • RE: USW Rethink

      My Idea is, if Germany declares Unrestricted Submarine Warfare, for every Submarine in the Atlantic Area (not counting the Baltic Sea or Mediterranean) roll a dice, and whatever is rolled for each dice, take that value times 2 from the British Income. Once it’s the US’ turn, they can declare war. Germany also receives 2 free Submarines in Sea Zone 7 the same turn.

      Except Vietnam is far, far closer to the United States these days than China.  Why then would you make them a Chinese ally (whom they hate) and not part of a Pacific coalition?

      @MightyChris:

      @Ryuzaki_Lawliet:

      My Ideas:

      Battle of Stalingrad (Germany, USSR, Minor Axis)
      Battle of Berlin (Germany, USSR)
      Fall of France (Germany, France, UK, Italy, Low Countries)
      War of China (Nationalists, Japan, Communists, Yunnan, Sikiang, Guanxi, Shanxi)
      Winter War (USSR, Finland, Germany [Support])
      Operation Sealion (Germany, UK)
      Fall of Italy (Germany, UK, USA, Fascist Italy, Monarch Italy)
      World War 3 2018 (Russia, USA, UK, France, China, Central European Nato, Japanese & South Korean Coalition, Middle Eastern Union, India, ANZAC, North Korea & Cuba, Brazil)
      War of the Ring (Gondor, Mordor, Isengard, Rohan, Bree, Khand, Rivendell)
      Napoleonic Wars (France, UK, Russia, Austria-Prussia, Spain-South Italy)

      Napoleanic Wars would be great.  You would have to make it more like Risk, however, since the alliances were highly fluid and not set.

      world War III would be great, but with 12 players, a wee bit too much.  Russia, USA, China, Japan, India for sure… Out of curiosity, why did you split NATO Central Europe off from France and UK?  And is the assumption that Italy, Spain, Benelux, etc., will stay out of the fight?  And, Middle Eastern Union… are you saying more like an Arab Union?  Or are you suggesting a kind of neo-Ottoman Empire that also encompasses Persia?  Or are you thinking more like a Sunni/Shia caliphate?  Interesting idea on ANZAC, but honestly, New Zealand basically has zero military, so not sure what that buys you.  Might as well just call them Australia.  The problem with Pacific powers is they pretty much uniformly despise one another.  Try getting the South Koreans and Japanese to even talk with one another, much less engage in a military alliance.

      Perhaps some kind of Pacific Coalition that encompasses Singapore, Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia, and the Philippines?  Would have to hand wave the political aspect of that, but you put all those powers together, you get a world class Navy (Japan alone has the world’s second largest navy currently), and a real ground fighting force (South Korean military has about 700,000 people in it, and fly F-15s and drive Abrams main battle tanks.  It is a bad ass force).

      Brazil doesn’t have much of a military to speak of either, nor does Cuba.

      I guess I would do a World War III set in 2018 as follows, in varying power blocs:  Allies:  USA, UK, Australia, Pacific Coalition.  Independents:  India, China, Caliphate, Russia, North Korea, NATO (minus US and UK).

      This gets the number of players down to a more manageable number, and makes the game more like a hybrid of A and A and risk.  The problem would be to figure out the mechanics of things like nuclear weapons, ballistic missiles, and the hardest part, the digital C4ISR backbone that enables the American military to be so dominant.

      Combine France and UK into one power, capital is London. NATO will be every other country of the alliance, with the capital in Berlin. Russia will begin the game controlling East Ukraine and Crimea. Pacific Coalition will have it’s capital in Tokyo. USA will begin the game set in a possible future where the economy has collapsed under it’s weight, and thus begins weak. China will also start with similar problems so to speak. The Middle Eastern Union will consist of Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iran, Libya, Egypt, and Pakistan, it’s capital being in Tehran. North Korea, Vietnam, Cuba, and other friendly nations to Russia will consist of another power, with the capital in Pyongyang.

      USA, France/UK, NATO, Pacific Coalition, India vs. Russia, Middle Eastern Union, China, North Korea/Vietnam/Russian Friendly Nations

      Nuclear Weapons are not a given in WW3, if madmen like Hitler and Stalin never used chemical weaponry, then I doubt more sane individuals would risk the end of the world.

      Ballistic Missiles I guess could be similar to how they were in Global.

      New Income Values:

      USSR: 17
      Germany: 20
      UK: 16
      Japan: 12
      USA: 24
      Italy: 9

      Add Artillery and Cruisers

      Modify Unit IPC values: Infantry - 2, Artillery - 3, Tanks - 4, Fighters - 7, Bombers - 9, Submarines - 5, Destroyers - 5,  Cruisers - 8, Aircraft Carriers - 11, Battleships - 12

      Bring back Victory cities, add more to allow more appeal and strategy without forcing new players to do a specific strategy

      Italy is added in because I have spoke to newbies before, and many find it odd that Italy is not in, and the Allies have 3 members to the Axis’ 2

      Add Board imprinted AA-Guns

      Add more territories, but only certain places, more europe and pacific, some african and asian, but thats it

      @Zombie69:

      3. By comparison, the Axis unit advantage becomes less important because those starting units are easier to match with more money floating around.
      4. Therefore, Axis loses.

      But it’s the same percentage of more money as before. At any rate, I’ve been adding new territories from the Global series so I’m sure a setup change will be in order - play testing will have to be done. I’m having a lot of fun playing with this Photoshop program anyway - lol.

      @Ryuzaki_Lawliet:

      Switch the IPC values for USSR and UK around, I’m getting sick of the USSR being the underdog

      You have a point - I think Russia was historically a lot more of a Bear than Axis and Allies lets on. I think that the problem is that the British territories are all over the map and thus more vulnerable to attack compared to the more condensed Russian territories, so the Brits need the beefier income.

      Except the British have massive advancing armies in Africa and India, when historically they didn’t, and with the exception of Canada, Britain was always more vulnerable than the USSR

      Besides, just give them a Factory in Egypt that will be out of harms way from the Axis for at least 1 round

      And the USSR demolished Germany in WW2, with very limited allied support, I don’t mind that the USSR needs support, if it is for balance issues, but all you really have to do is push more Germans to the front lines that will make battles for the USSR more costly in the initial setup

      Also one thing, you could do what Total World War 1941 did and disallow movement of Germany on round 1 in specific territories, marked with Russian winter symbols
