      just depends on who your fighting….

      I usually to what i call the standard build … 8 men… but ahh then sometimes i might go with a couple tanks on the first turn if i am feeling a little too aggressive… but ahh what the hell try it out worst that could happen is a quick game…

      First things first…
      1.We have no business in Iraq… But oh wait the weapons of mass destruction you say…  did France smuggled them out? that was the last thing i heard…

Saddam is a horrid dictator who kills his people… well “these people” as he is using in his defence were trying to overthrow his government and he gassed(where did he get the gas? ahh oh sh*t…that’s right we gave it to him wooops um) for treason basically bah… were killing those people left and right cause they are trying to overthrow the one were installing… don’t see Georgy getting thrown into prison…

      3. he was connected to ahh who was that guy… were hunting him down for doing something real bad… ahh a… ahhh … oh yeah 9-11 the world trade something or other what was that guys name… anyway i was told he was chummy with Saddam, which ahh nope that ain’t right… Saddam thought that guy was nutz…And what the hell ever happend to that were gonna smoke him out shit Georgy was talking about? that was a smoke screen…

      Ok i am sorry since i can’t think of one reason were in this war… i don’t think i can give anyone a reason to stay… well maybe you can get bush and those damn Hawks over there to do some fighting and let are armed forces have a day off… since its really just the hawks and neocons war let them go fight it for a day…

      anyway this topic is just to heated for my taste i think i should stick to rule clarifications and basic strategy for axis and allies… here have some daily show … i think this clip is very descriptive of how i feel about the bull that the white house if giving us… anyway its a bit dated octber but still…  its cute…

    • RE: What is the point of fighters in an IPC raid?

      that is only useful in the german front exspansion or japan expansion … (not a real rule pro on the expansion games) but i think it works like this…

      scrambling planes is a way for the defender, if they didn’t use thier planes during the combat phase, to try and defend thier industrial complex against Bombing raids… its a one round combat as i remember first the AA shots… then all the defending fighters roll at a 2 or less and all the attacking fighters roll at a one then the combat is over remove the casualties and proceed with the bombing… ahh still doesn’t apply to reviesd A&A unless you play with house rules and throw that one in cause … (can’t really think of a reason to use it)

      Anyway, they might be usefull if your playing with the Out of the box rules and your germany and you get the national advantage that allows you to Industrialy bomb your enemy with your fighters… then it kinda applys to why you would send your fighters on bombing raids… (sometimes when things are going bad I acctually think its a good idea, and proceed to hurt my opponents fist with my head.) but even if you get that National Advantage, never use it cause it cost you more in the long run that it will ever cost your opponent…

      i think Jon handled himself quite well, but ahh anyway… it was on his show and he is gracious, and not a pompous @$$ like the big O… my favorite part of Jon’s show was how the crowded treated Mr. O… found myself chuckling cause Jon had to tone them down a few times. But that is just the character that orielly plays i hope in his pursuit of money… I mean heaven forbid he actually believe some of the garbage that pours from his mouth

      the steps of the round
      1. opening fire (all subs, unless the destroyer is present then they will roll in step 3 or 4 depending on offense  or defense)
      2. remover opening fire casualties
      3. attacking units fire
      4. defending units fire
      5. remove casualties
      6. press attack or retreat (if you press the attack repeat steps 1-6)

      and yeah their is a opening fire phase in revised always to my understandings of the rules… in regular axis and allies the milton Bradley version their is sneak attack for the subs but that is only for the offensive subs

      Sue Wheat!!! If your buying I’m game … win or lose, I am sure I will enjoy the game… But if you could make it Guinness or Murphy’s I don’t really dig on pilsner… so a stout please  :-D

      muhahahaha

      this tactic works well against the group i play with… they go after germany with a vengance… they retreat everything from all the corners of world for the most part and pull to the atlantic just to put a wrench in the works for germany… they buy nothing without germany in mind… its 100 % devotion… it took 5 turns last game before i felt i could even make a real run at russia because i had to hold strong while japan got going…

      Edit: holding strong meant staying at 40 or above… i fell to 37 one turn but rebounded back after a little regrouping…

      just me i have an unquenchable thirst for hitting germany with everything i have when i am the britt’s… i usually abandon those men in India every time to try and make a fight for Africa and keep the canal if possible or atleast just slow them down from running a muck in Africa before the US can get there to help me out… i love to sail that fleet through the canal but if i can’t do that i usually take the long way to get to the battle ship… not always the best move but i love messing with germany and giving her a whap on the under side.

      I would suggest no cheaper than 3 ipc’s because of thier improved movement, they can move with a stack of tanks and be instant fodder which is the role of the man… even if they defend for less, they are still more useful than a man is in my opinion… hell i know a ton of people who would pay 1 ipc for a unit that had 0 Attack and 0 defense and moved one a turn, hell i would … drop a stack of forty of them the first turn with germany and then load up with tanks from their on out

      firstly you don’t have to agree to let the allies have naval superiority… THEY HAVE IT… you can delude yourself but they are making 72 (england and us) the first turn more than your income of that was probably devoted to the navy and next turn probably more will be spent that way, next turn as well… they can build navy till the cows come home and they probably will

      secondly its easy to stay above 40… you start at forty Africa is only worth 2 in a loss 38 and well with the tactic that i am playing your going after Russia which is worth 18… anyway, your only chance when the allies are playing KGF is men and tanks mostly, men… you can’t take all three allies on all fronts… you can’t wager a decent land war while trying to wager a naval battle the units just cost too much… you can however be a juggernaut and have 15 men and 5 tanks on all coastal territory and make the cost of landing sooo high that the allies will have to play your war and will never catch you, cause the longer the game goes the larger your standing defence gets and you have been building since the beginning. the allies have been loosing money steadily due to a Japanese player left alone the entire game so with or with out planes you win…

      personally i will hardly ever buy a plane… unless i have Russia pinned / captured… and i have the main land well fortified, then i may turn around buy all fighters one turn and perhaps some subs the very next turn… cause i sure as hell don’t have to worry about buying men late in the game… cause i took care of that earlier

      PS- i have won many games without any fighters left… and with Bobo the retarded Japanese player…(shrugs and cringes) gawd i hate playing with Bobo he sucks… and lastly i hate this style of play… all men and a few tanks is hard and boring work… but it does work… it also drags the hell outta the game and is not for some. last time we played it took 10 hours to crack russia in half because of this but it did keep the allies from one successfull landing on western europe, germany, and southern europe (also 10 hours in germany still had 6 fighters and had eaten a few transports, no bomber though)… they did take norway a few times though… but germany always took it back with high casualties from them

      other things i don’t do, research… waste of money… your odds of getting it are 1 in 6 the same cost as a 10 stack of men… and well ain’t no ability worth that in my humble opinion

      I am here and i have a regular group of five that plays on monday nights at my house usually 5pm - 11 pm… just recently we also played tuesday from 12 pm - 5pm to finish one of our monday night games that got carried over cause it was taking that long… probably could have continued it after tuesday but the allies gave up…

      according to the operations manual page 30 the transport may carry any land unit and a infantry… so i don’t reckon that you could carry two arts… unless your using a diffrent set of rules… or updated ??

      but then again it seems every set has its own rules… slightly diffrent from the last set…
      could be you transports may only carry two men… or a tank if its 2nd edition…

      6 is a great number to have… but five is min… ahh just don’t squander what you start with and you shouldn’t have to replace them… I just feel your very limited when you are under the allied gun… and fighters are generally a luxury you don’t have

      Started back in boarding school ahh sixth grade? maybe seventh… entire weekends wasted playing just one game… ahh but then i got out of boarding school in the 9th grade and didn’t play again till my senior year of highschool, cause i just never met anyone who played in Kentucky.  i still remember how i met them, i was delivering pizza back in highschool… and i was delivering to one of the dorms at the local college and this disheveled college kid came down to get the pie… i asked why he looked so stressed… and he responded “i am playing germany in a board game” anyway i stayed down in the lobby talking to him for 15 mins getting a feel for the game and coaching him through his next few turns… needless to say he won that night off of a diversion tactic… and i found my group… we have been playing full groups of 5 here in Kentucky ever since for the last few years…plus or minus one or two players who go in and out of the circle… anyway i am 28 now

      Yuck your actually considering a IC in India… bah…

      Pull your entire fleet from seazone 35 to seazone to 15 and hit the sweet underbelly of Europe next turn hold Africa!!! kill the German battleship and transport/evacuate India if you want to hit germany with everything ya got… get the Russians to screen seazone six and hit norway… put your AC in seazone 3 with the rest of your fleet and get ready to beat the germans at your game, fleet war!!! oh and get the Americans to fortify the UK for ya… never know what the sneaky germans are up to, could be thinking of hitting your capital… better safe then sorry
