    • RE: WATER ON THE MOON

      This is very interesting, the water on the moon that is, not the Klingons, but I have to admit that was funny jermo, especially that frimmel’s post just above yours features none other than Khan :lol:

      IL, I agree that it can get carried away, but you can’t deny that it keeps you laughing.

      Moon Base Alpha…that takes me back…I always liked that show Space 1999 when I was growing up.

      @Adlertag:

      @Brain:

      This whole thread is political.

      Yes, but it has not devolved into the bashing, blame-slinging, so-and-so politician is an a%#hat, sort of stuff that got the political discussion board shut down. It has remained civil and avoided any sort of ‘partisan bent’ and been mostly a strategy discussion.

      Yes butt that korean retard jim jong sung II want to nuke us, man, he want to nuke us straigt to h*ll, and how bizare it must be, we are not allowed to call him names, because we must be political correct and not offend nor insult any criminal lame retard moron whatsoever, even if it is pretty obvious that it was just this kind of BS appeasement policy that got the world deep into st in 1939, and I figure that all this lame st is gonna happen again, a** it did last time, butt this time you cant blame it on europe.

      I also like the way he says a** it did last time. I wonder if that was on purpose? :-D

    • RE: Brazilian IC

      Of course everyone has their opinion on the best course of action to proceed with. The Brazilian IC is good but only works to help Africa which in my opinion should be UK’s job to defend. I have never had too much difficulty in stoping Axis advance into Africa with UK blocking just south of Egypt.
      So in my opinion US has to tackle Japan as no one else really can, which means buying a fleet in the Pacific. Also they need to help against Germany which is buying a fleet in the Atlantic slowly increasing to prepare for D-Day on Germany.
      These tactics have worked for me in previous games.

    • RE: Brazilian IC

      US has to react to Japan’s moves of course. It may delay the US push until turn 2, 3 or 4, but US should consolidate all ships including UK and hastle Japan so they do not have free reign over the Southeast Asia area. Japan cannot be left unchallenged is all I’m saying.

      @cymerdown:

      You can’t move anything to Solomon Islands with the allies on turn 1… Japan has the fleet at Philippines and 6 Fighters in range, that’s deadzone there buddy.

      I am talking about AA50 41 set-up. Japan does not have Phillipines yet it still belongs to US. If US move there fleet forward Japan has to decide to attack or regroup. It can slow them down and interfere with going after India.

    • RE: Mac vs. PC

      @Brain:

      Isn’t it amusing that when people buy DVD’s they hardly ever watch those movies because they know that they can watch them anytime and so that time never comes

      You are so right. I personally own around 100+ DVDs and I do watch some of them frequently, and others hardly ever, so it justs depends on how the movie “grabs” you.

      But I guess we are going off topic here so back to PC vs. Mac. How about those new commercials, Mac is continuing to assault PC now with Windows 7. It is getting a little old now I think. I did find some of them funny at the start but now… :|

      @frimmel:

      They are in New York chasing a ‘bomber.’ It is to me the weakest entry.

      Must be why it doesn’t stick in my mind. And I checked last night I actually have the die hard series on DVD and I own all 4. So you would think I would remember it.

      Thanks frimmel.

      @Panzer:

      Thats a laugh. That Mac guy is in Die Hard 3 to my surprise. He actually can act.

      Not 3 but Die Hard 4. “Live Free or Die Hard,” which is actually pretty decent.

      The Mac Guy is actor Justin Long.

      You are correct. I was thinking it was 4 but could not seem to remember 3 so I thought I was mistaken. 1 is in the building, 2 is in the plane, what happens in 3?

      @frimmel:

      I’ve been thinking of changing up my avatar but don’t really know what I’d change to.

      In keeping with the Star Wars theme, how about one of the Jedi’s, maybe Quigon Jin. I always like Liam Neeson’s (Darkman) acting and roles.

      I was noticing a lot of members have changed their avatar recently and I was thinking maybe of changing mine also, but have not thought up of something really cool or different yet.

    • RE: Is There a KJF Strategy in AA41?

      @Zhukov44:

      One of the big things that get in the way of a KJF in the Revised style is that it’s hard for Russia to make an impact against Japan.  A big (weak) China strengthens Japan enormously, because it takes so long for Russia to get close to the coast to block the Jap expansion.  In Revised, it’s possible to immediately threaten the Pacific Coast…not so here.

      The classic KJF move of advancing into Manchuria (or at least threatening this advance) is effectively neutered by Japan’s existing fighter and transport fleets.  Stacking Manch is suicidal, while the opportunity cost to Japan isn’t bad given the reward.  Russia can try to support China from the West, but it can’t realistically spare many units, and only 2-3 inf doesn’t seem to have much (if any) effect on Japan’s expansion in China, given that China often has 1 or less inf left after J1.

      It seems that at any point in the KJF, Germany can switch to armor buys and (as Bugoo notes) use the Italian can opener to threaten Moscow.  It’s tough for Russia to do anything besides face Germany, even though it’s the only power able to do something about Japan’s land expansion.

      I agree with your statements. Russia is not very effective against Japan and Germany will crush if they try to go after Japan. Russia simply does not have enough to fight Italy, Germany and Japan. That is why US and UK have to deal with Japan while Russia stops Germany’s (& Italy’s) advance. UK has got it the toughest as they need to go against all three axis powers right from the beginning.

    • RE: Star Wars Quirks

      frimmel, someone previously mentioned about your Star Trek picture in a Star Wars post.

      I actually like your photo of Khan (Mr. Roarke for those who now that show). I always liked his hairdoo in that ST2 movie (your pic).

      Ricardo Montalban passed away this year in January at age 88. Always liked his acting.

      It was I that had previously mentioned about the black outfit. The pic you posted does not quite look exactly the same, but I think that is it. The second one looks a lot closer. In EP2 when they (Anakin and Padme) are at the lake the first time and having dinner, that is when she is wearing that outfit.

      Anyway keep up the good work and +1 again for your efforts. 8-)

    • RE: Allies always lose

      I agree with that it is difficult to win as the allies in 41 set-up.

      A couple of things I have done that may help:

      • Buy tanks with Russia on the first few turns with a couple of men as you can afford.
      • Try to get a plane or two going as well as Russia needs to build an attack force.
      • Always leave one man on your front line so Germany has limited pieces to kill.
      • Always take back what Germany captures if possible but do not leave your attack pieces exposed for counter attack. Must recapture adjacent countries to Moscow at all costs.
      • UK should take out Findland for Russia so that back door is closed.
      • UK can also hit Poland or actually put men in Karelia. (Russia looses the NO bonus so make sure it is lots of UK guys to be worth it.)
      • US should go at Japan but should try to get at least a transport or two in the Atlantic going over to Africa if possible.
      • Take out Italy fleet as soon as possible to take back control of the Med.

      These are some suggestions that have worked for me. Hope this helps. 8-)

      @frimmel:

      Much to my surprise it is quite difficult to find ‘postable’ photos at all and even more difficult to find tasteful/‘within the rules of decorum’ photos as well.

      I also hit at least one ‘hijack/virus/spy-ware’ image in any search it seems.

      Not surprising to hear on all three comments.
      I wish those virus / spyware people would find a more productive means to pass their time, instead of trying to screw up everyone else’s computers.  :x

      No idea how much retouch is done to that pic.

      I venture though that from the line of her chin/bottom of ear down is all Carrie Fisher and the face/hair not the braid is Natalie and the wisp of hair in front of her face is complete fabrication.

      Retouched or not you have done it again frimmel. If you keep on toping yourself like this, you are going to have come up with some pretty awesome photos next time as this is A+.
      +1 to frimmel for this one.

    • RE: Is There a KJF Strategy in AA41?

      @Zhukov44:

      I don’t understand the rush to capture India (ie landing en masse in Burma J1).  Why is that worth skipping the Philippines and granting the USA an NO?

      That a Russian bomber can hit the East Indies tranny is pretty cool…still as Japan I might go ahead and sacrifice the transport to take it J1 anyway because I want to get that factory up immediately (though perhaps not in a full scale KJF).

      The logic for aiming for a J3 attack on India is that holding down India will cost the United Kingdom and Russia on other fronts…it seems like Japan can afford to build up in that region until the potential exchange is entirely in Japan’s favor…and then eventually claim the free factory.  Meanwhile, Japan can expand at will, securing China and denying the Allies Pacific NOs.  If the Allies put up determined resistance at India, why not wall them off at Burma and wait until the Jap advantage is overwhelming?

      Last time I played as Japan I actually did go after India right away and did leave Phillipines alone on the first turn but went after them on the second. I actually forgot about the US NO and was striclty looking at strategies. Once I realized what I had done (on US turn) I thought I screwed up big time, but as it turned out it did work better in the long run as Japan was able to eliminate the US fleet and hold India with turn 2 factory that I built there. So I do not know if taking out the Phillipines first is better or if taking out India right away is better, but it did work. Just some food for thought. 8-)
