@JuliusBorisovBeamdog
All right then, this might speed up my decision to buy a new NB/PC with at least 16 GB.

RE: I made a TripleA map on my hard drive, but I can't test it because it hasn't been downloaded. Help?posted in TripleA Support
@Argothair I suppose that the issue is related to the folder structure and/or inaccuracies in naming the mapfile and the map-xml and/or the naming inside the xml.
Would you mind to provide your files in a zipped way?
I will take a look tomorrow, then (almost midnight here). :slightly_smiling_face: -

@CrazyIvan said in I'm wondering about which games get played the most?:
Interesting! How many different games are there in total?
Get an idea here:
https://triplea-game.org/maps-list/maps/
and here:
https://github.com/triplea-mapsMost of those do not exist as physical boardgames, as those are user created maps.
Also you won’t find a TripleA map related to AAZ. -
RE: SS GEN changed to GEN MANSTEINposted in General Discussion
@AndrewAAGamer said in SS GEN changed to GEN MANSTEIN:
Does that mean we should never reference the SS again? Not in my opinion. Erasing history means making the same mistakes again.
Of course not. How do you come to think so?
What type of reference actually is a user name? A user name is a symbol rather than a reference. Choosing this organization as a user name might be (and comparable cases actually have been) interpreted as a statement rather than a substantial reference (though we know that it has not been in this special case).
No one forbids a critical reference, no one erases history.
For example you want to reference the SS in any context in any topic? Feel free to do so. All we ask is to respect the forum rules (as we do at any time).

The forum dicey has not yet been implemented. It is on @djensen 's todo list.
I recommend to use a single MARTI dice roll for resolving your issue. -

@Private-Panic said in Attacking multiple territories in one combat move?:
Also subs not involved in combat can move into hostile sea zones in which there is no enemy destroyer present.
A small correction: Subs can even move into seazones containing an enemy destroyer:
Rulebook, 1941, page 20:Submarines: Unlike other sea units, submarines can move through and even into hostile sea zones during this phase.
However, a submarine must end its movement when it enters a sea zone containing one or more enemy destroyers.@jwarf Welcome to the forum :slightly_smiling_face:

@trulpen said in 2 vs 2 league/tourney:
@Panther, would you say this thread is better situated in the Tourney-section? How do we reach out to people?
For the 2 vs 2 format we actually have the “Team Games” category. We could create a stickied ‘League’ or ‘Torunament’ topic there, depending on the format you come to decide for.
In order to reach out to people you can:
- create an announcement topic in the “Events” category (to be stickied for some time)
- create an announcement topic in the “Find Online Players category” (to be stickied for some time)
- and maybe, in case you address primarily League players, create an announcement topic in the “League” category, as you already did.
I recommend to guide people to the “Tournament-Thread” itself fo signing up.
Just create the appropriate topics and I will care about pinning/unpinning them.

@CrazyIvan said in TripleA start issues:
@Panther I will do so! And thanks for the help.
One of my first questions will be the way this site separates threads, and how to both search for and post in the correct places!
Basically this site is structured in different categories and subcategories. For example categories on special games, where we discuss the games with their OOB rules and strategies. House Rules are regularly discussed in Customization/House Rules. Playing online has its categories, TripleA has an own support forum and so on…
So topics go to their respective category. You can find some forum related Tips&Tricks by clicking this link:

RE: A bunch of noob questions...posted in Axis & Allies 1941
@fenderbender4 Welcome to the forum.
@fenderbender4 said in A bunch of noob questions...:
I understand that the developer (Larry Harris) added/updated the beginning numbers for some people. I have seen the numerical changes, but what should the official count now be? I ask because my setup guide has 6 infantry in Russia, does that mean it’s updated or should I add 3 more to that 6 count? (same thing with US destroyer, etc.). This is elementary but I have not seen anyone explain a clear TOTAL for what the power start with merely the additions.
In case your setup page indicates 6 infantry in Russia, you are going with the latest and current setup.
All the adjustments mentioned in 2014’s official FAQ should be included in that new print, then.@fenderbender4 said in A bunch of noob questions...:
Can Fighters/Bombers attack defenseless transports? If so do transports role for anything? This also leads into, can aircraft just attack sea units (unless it’s a sub)?
Yes they can. Defenseless transports don’t roll dice but are destroyed (see “Defenseless Transports” on page 17 of the rulebook).
Air units can attack sea units. They can attack even submarines in case the air units are supported by an attacking destroyer.@fenderbender4 said in A bunch of noob questions...:
How does loading/unloading of troops in transports work, especially when the transport, technically doesn’t have to move anywhere (i.e. you are playing Japan and seemingly can unload/load troops at will in certain areas)? What movements counts are there? In a combat round, can a tank still more “two places”? Like if Manchuria is enemy territory but has no forces, can the tank still blitz?
Page 28 of the Rulebook covers this all:
“Loading and Offloading: A transport can load cargo from one or two territories in or adjacent to friendly sea zones that it
occupies before, during, and after it moves, then offload the cargo at the end of its movement. For example, it could pick
up 1 land unit, move 1 sea zone, pick up another land unit, move 1 more sea zone, and finally offload both land units. A
transport can also remain at sea with cargo still aboard. In that case, the cargo remaining aboard must have been loaded in a previous turn, loaded this turn in the Noncombat Move phase, or loaded this turn for an amphibious assault from which the transport retreated.
Loading onto or offloading from a transport counts as a land unit’s entire move; it cannot move before loading or after
offloading. Place the land units alongside the transport in the sea zone. If the transport moves in the Noncombat Move phase, any number of units aboard can offload into a single friendly territory.”Please ask back if anything remains unclear.
@fenderbender4 said in A bunch of noob questions...:
- What happens if say Japan and/or Germany occupies both sea zones off the coast of Eastern AND Western US. It’s the US’s turn and have enough IPC’s, can they mobilize those units in the sea zones? What happens if it’s Germany/Japan’s turn?
Rulebook, page 20: “Place sea units only in sea zones adjacent to territories containing eligible industrial complexes. New sea units can enter play even in a hostile sea zone. No combat occurs because the Conduct Combat phase is over”
On Germany’s/Italy’s turn the “Sea Units starting in Hostile Sea Zone rules” apply. (page 12)
@fenderbender4 said in A bunch of noob questions...:
To clarify a submarine’s “surprise strike” (if the battle is sans destroyer), means its attack allows no “casualty” strike (unless it’s a battleship which can absorb one hit).?
Correct.
@fenderbender4 said in A bunch of noob questions...:
Also, are there other adjustments to the game that people recommend?
For possible (not official) other adjustments check out the House Rules category of our forum.

RE: Beamdog's AA42 Online survey - What did you answer?posted in Axis & Allies 1942 Online
Starting with my own answer:
I will “maybe” recommend the online game.
Why maybe? While I don’t care much for example about graphics, sounds and cosmetics or the felt “randomness of dice results” I really do care about rules compliance. As other topics in this forum category indicate the game is somehow leaving the original idea of being as rules compliant as possible.
So in order to recommend the game, to me it needs
- either some rework to go back to full rules compliance
or - a clear statement, that the online game is not a 1:1 adaption of the OOB/LHTR game but a variant instead - ideally expressed by a dedicated rulebook or at least a fact-sheet that clearly points out all the differences from the boardgame.
To me the online version could be an ideal way to create enthusiasm for the boardgames. But when coming to play the boardgames, online players will need to learn and accept the differences. That is somehow counterproductive, IMHO.
Concerning the tablet version I would definitely buy it. We do not have any serious implementation of an A&A game, however it might be called.
- either some rework to go back to full rules compliance

If that feature was available you would find a respective button above the editor-box (marked yellow) when creating a topic.

However, as that specific button is missing it looks like this feature has not been enabled (yet).

RE: Doctor_Oda (Axis) vs trulpen (Allies) #7, G40 OOB + YGs NOsposted in Play Boardgames
@trulpen I just stumbled accidentally over this question.
The official FAQ addresses this scenario:
Q. Say the United Kingdom launches an amphibious assault from a US transport without any
supporting UK sea or air units in the sea zone, and then the defender scrambles. What
happens?
A. In effect, nothing happens. The US transport doesn’t participate in the sea battle because it’s not the
US’s turn. Since there are no attacking sea or air units, there is no sea battle. However, the sea zone
can’t be cleared of defending combat units, so the amphibious assault can’t proceed.
TripleA does not handle this correctly, as noted in the map’s game notes:
- (PE) You may not conduct an amphibious assault from an allied transport if the defender could scramble and you have no other combat units to protect that transport.
