      Unfortunately this is nothing you or I can do about. Sounds like when saving the game some information got lost or at least confused. I recommend that you hit “Report to TripleA” once the error occurs and see if there is already a related issue at Github. If not an issue will be created. You could add some information and add the savegame there, then.

      Now for your game, you can try to continue the game from an earlier point of history. I don’t have access to TripleA right now. But when you load your game and go back in game history for example to the end of the turn of the prior power, I seem to recall that you should be able to redo the turn of the current power. There should be something like “…continue from here”. Just try that out. I might give more precise details next week, when I am back to my computers.

      This is most likely widely covered in the Support category, check for example this answer to the related issue:

      But at first you should follow the “Report to TripleA” - workflow to see what is behind it.

      In the meantime you and your co-players can edit the xml file to be found in the “game” folder of the map installation manually. Just remove the line quoted above and save.
      Note that the change has no effect on your current game (savegames). So in order to play including this change you need to start a new game.

      Ah yes, in case you see an error message when you hit “Download Maps” do as follows:

      • Hit “Engine Preferences”
      • Select “Testing”
      • Find “Lobby URI Override” and set it to “Latest Stable”
      • Hit “Save”

      Then klick “Download Maps” again and it should work.

      Yes. Just use Play by Email instead - and instead of sending emails just post the turn summary manually (copy/paste) and attach a manually created savegame.

      You don’t need to setup the mail configuration.

      That doesn’t explain why it was present in 2.5 though. I vaguely remember that “Show Console” might have been an option in the Engine Preferences what had been removed later.

      But there is an “Eqqman” account there. Isn’t that yours? It was created on July 22, 2020.

      What is your username that you used to log in and create the above image?

      What you experience is usually caused by an incomplete account registration process, so that might be caused by the Google-Login-procedure. It is always recommended to create an account using the standard account registration procedure.

      So tell me your username (or the Gmail address) and I can take a look.

      You can tell me by PM in case you used your real name there and/or want your mail address kept private.

      Then can you please post screenshots of what happens when you start 2.6 and then load your savegame.
      I cannot reproduce what you mean/experience so I need to see what you talk about.
      Best would be step by step. So write what you do and then post an image of the result of your action. Then the next action and so on. Just from the beginning of clicking on the TripleA icon to start TripleA.

      Yes, as these are two different pair of shoes.

      While there is much interaction between axisandallies .org and triplea-game .org, they are different.

      Axisandallies .org with its forum is a fansite for Axis and Allies games and it allows playing games related to A&A with TripleA via the forum (PBF). Triplea-game .org on the other hand is the website and forum for the TripleA software. It’s focus lies on the development of the software, development of hundreds of playable maps and online-gaming via the lobby (next to PBF and PBEM).

      So a donation to both helps to cover the costs of both websites with their respective (individual) targets.

      TripleA uses its own Java bundled with the installation, so your system-wide Java does not matter.

      What you experience is quite uncommon, so it is hard to tell what causes the error on your side, as TripleA usually works fine on all OS. Now this error message is issued by the OS, so we get no more information from it - respectively what the Windows problem actually is.
      TripleA-related errors usually become obvious by error-messages issued by TripleA itself.

      What is your Windows version?
      Is your Windows up-to date (all system updates installed)?
      Which TripleA version did you download and install?
      Any Antivirus that probably interferes?
      Any interfering background processes?
      Have you uninstalled, installed again and re-tried?

      I am sorry, but the installer is not the problem. I (and hundreds of others) am (are) constantly downloading and installing from this source (https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/releases/) without any issues. That includes (pre-)release 14644. Myself, I am on Windows 11 (64bit).

      (Btw. the source for the 2.5 version is the same, as the link on the the TripleA-site points to the same Github-repository.)

      In case you are on a 64bit Windows the TripleA_2.6…windows-64bit.exe file is the correct file for you.
      So we need to figure out what happens (or not) specifically on your side.
      Let’s do that step by step.

      Just to be sure we talk about the same issue:
      What I am understanding from your words is that you say:
      “I have downloaded the TripleA_2.6+14644_windows-64bit.exe file to a specific place on my harddrive. When I afterwards doubleclick on that downloaded file NOTHING happens.”

      Is that correct? Also please indicate if your workflow maybe is different.
