    • RE: 2.6 is not letting me access my games

@dawgoneit said in 2.6 is not letting me access my games:

@Panther ok. I’ll try to explain the best I can. I can’t screen shot any thing it says because of the way it pops up and disapiers rite away.

When i push on the game thread this little box pops up and disapiers very fast so i can’t see what it says. its something about the maps. iv’e tried a bunch of times to try to see what it says.
then when the black page shows up it looks normal. the area just above where you can choose your map is where it shows who just did they’re turn and how many times its been downloaded. all that only stays up for about 5 seconds and that to disapears and the emails also. i type in our emails and the game ID and it always takes me back to the start of the game. not to where the game is at.
I dont no if it has anything to do with it but i have to go back and forth between 2.5 and 2.6 to play all my games.
but i haven’t played a single turn with the 2.614615 because of this.

While waiting for someone to assist you on your PC let uns try something else.
From your words I understand that you use a quite uncommon (at least to me) way to launch TripleA.

Did I understand correctly that you

      • klick on the savegame right in the topic of your game thread?
      • this initiates the start of TripleA and the (somehow failing) load of your game (or not)?

In case this is correct - that can’t work when you have more than one TripleA installations.

      So please try as follows:

Please download the savegame file from the game thread, that means rightclick on the file and save it on your hard drive at a place where you will find it (maybe directly to your desktop or a special download folder in case you have one).

Then first move to the TripleA 2.5 installation folder. Inside this folder find the TripleA.exe and doubleclick on it. In case an error message opens, ignore it and close it. Now on the left side of the panel find “Open Saved Game”. Load the game you saved before and open it. What happens?

After that move to the TripleA 2.6 installation folder. Inside this folder find the TripleA.exe and doubleclick on it. In case an error message opens, ignore it and close it. Now on the left side of the panel find “Open Saved Game”. Load the game you saved before and open it. What happens?

Please tell us what happens in both cases.

      Good luck.

So I am quite sure that it is related to recent changes to the website/forum.

    • RE: Tank blitzing through newly conquered territory

@G40NEWB said in Tank blitzing through newly conquered territory:

Is Germany able to blitz tanks through a territory it just conquered that turn? For example, using a few tanks to attack blocker infantry in Eastern Poland then attacking Western Ukraine through that newly captured territory? Please give me an example from the rule book that makes this move illegal or legal, can’t seem to find anything that specifically deals with this situation.

All combat moves occur during Combat Move Phase. Additional combat moves - once the Conduct Combat Phase has started - are not allowed.

Also the term of “blitzing” is used only for one single situation that occurs during Combat Move Phase:
“A tank can “blitz” by moving through an unoccupied hostile territory as the first part of a move that can end in a friendly or hostile territory…”.
      (Rulebook Europe 1940SE, page 15.)

So your case/question is not a case of “blitzing”.

      Welcome to the forum.

      Sure.

Either increase (e.g. double) the _XmX and _XmS-settings inside the file
‘triplea.vmoptions’ to be found in the TripleA-installation directory

or download and install the current pre-release that got rid of the XmX and XmS settings in favor of a more dynamical assignment depending on the system RAM.

@Ivelity Welcome to the forum. :slightly_smiling_face:

Just use the “Battleship & cruiser bombardment”-step of the Amphibious Assault-sequence as described in the rulebook, page 15.

During Combat Move Phase move the loaded transport together with the Battleship into the seazone you plan to unload from. As there is no sea battle you may use the Battleship to bombard the territory.

      @VictoryFirst said in JPN DOW:

      @barnee

No, if Japan declares war on UK and ANZAC, it drags the US into the war also, making the US ships enemies.

Sorry, this is not correct. It just allows USA to declare war on any/all Axis power(s).
      Rulebook Pac. 1940.2, page 37:

“Japan may declare war on the United Kingdom, ANZAC, the United States, France, or the Soviet Union at the beginning of the Combat Move phase of any of its turns. A declaration of war by Japan against either the United Kingdom or ANZAC will immediately result in a state of war between Japan and both of those powers.”

“The United States may not declare war on any Axis power unless an Axis power either declares war on it first or captures London or any territory in North America, or Japan makes an unprovoked declaration of war against the UK or ANZAC, after which it may declare war on any or all Axis powers on its following turn.”

    • Urgent: TripleA Software Update Immediately required!

Please update Your TripleA client ASAP

The old lobby and Marti servers will be shut down imminently. Unfortunately we have no precise time table. The time range i have been given is “tomorrow, or it’ll be a month from now. I’m guessing will be tomorrow at this rate.”

The download link can be found here:

      https://triplea-game.org/download/

Any questions or concerns about what’s happening can be directed here:

      https://forums.triplea-game.org/topic/4351/triplea-2026.06.16-release-schedule-plan

      or here:

      https://forums.triplea-game.org/topic/4353/urgent-communication-needed

You must also re-reregister for the new marti server here:

      https://dice.triplea-game.org/

This as a major, required, and backward compatible release. It’s required so we can discontinue old resources that are costing the project a significant fraction of our total expenses.

Downgrading the lobby will save $10/month and removing old MARTI will be $25/month (in exchange for new MARTI that costs $5/month).

There’s no reason I can think of to not upgrade. Maybe worth mentioning that save games are expected to work well (but maps are looking to be a problem area and may need re-install).

(Text by @ubernaut - thank you!)

      Addition:

Please note that the new dice server only allows two email addresses. Email addresses can no longer be space delimited. So in multiplayer games you need to decide who receives the mails per side.
Also the new dice server does not support a “Game Name” (game/topic-id) any longer.

To continue your older games load your savegame, hit “Play By Forum” and re-register your e-mail-addresses with the new dice server (if you had not done that before).

Dice mails will likely go to the spam-folder. But usually you can handle this easily in your mail-account.

    • RE: All the Russian openings: For Begginers

@barnee You are correct, of course. Page 31 of the rulebook:
“A transport can load and offload units without moving from the friendly sea zone it is in (this is known as “bridging”). Each
such transport is still limited to its cargo capacity. It can offload in only one territory, and once it offloads, it cannot move,
load, or offload again that turn.”

    • RE: Defenceless transport rules need revision

@shadowhawk said in Defenceless transport rules need revision:

Currently if i got 100 transport and the enemy attacks with 1 sub, but i have an airbase and 1 fighter i can scramble. At that point i do have a unit that can shoot back so the rule does not apply and the enemy has to make 100kills with the sub.

No. Fighter and submarine can’t hit each other - so the transports are still defenseless.

      Rulebook Europe 1940 2nd , page 20:

      “Defenseless Transports
In a sea battle, if the defender has only transports
remaining and the attacker still has units capable
of attacking, the defending transports are all
destroyed, along with their cargo. You don’t have
to continue rolling dice until all the transports
receive hits. This will speed up combats. This also
occurs if the only combat units remaining can’t hit
each other. For example, if the defender has only
transports and submarines remaining, and the
attacker has only air units remaining, the air units
and submarines can’t hit each other, so the trans-
ports are defenseless. At this point, defenseless
transports are all destroyed, along with their cargo.

Attacking transports are not usually considered
defenseless, since they generally have the option
of retreating. If they can’t retreat, they are treated
the same as defending transports. Destroying
defenseless transports in this way still counts as
combat for the purpose of offshore bombardment
      and similar rules.”

@shadowhawk said in Defenceless transport rules need revision:

Or if i got 20AA guns and the enemy attacks with 1 mech. Do we really want to roll dies till he hits 20x a 1?

No, as the same rulebook says on page 29:

“If a territory containing AAA units and no combat units is attacked, the AAA units are automatically destroyed after they fire (see “Air Defense”, below), but if only air units are attacking, at least one of them must survive the Air Defense in order to destroy the AAA. AAA units may never attack.”

    • RE: AA50 Rules Errata and Q+A

@MillCreek said in AA50 Rules Errata and Q+A:

@Panther Yes, thank you for the rule clarification. But my issue is that it doesn’t seem to make sense. I understand the rule. I just don’t like the rule.

I did not intend to teach you things you already know. I just thought the best way to explain the difference was by the rules.

@MillCreek said in AA50 Rules Errata and Q+A:

In both cases, your team has control of the territory. In one case, that control was gained after the fall of the capital. In the other case, you had control before the fall. It seems a poor rule that your team is punished for owning a territory longer. Sorry, you don’t get those IPCs or use of the factory, unless you let the enemy capture it, then recapture it.

One can well argue about liking or disliking rules, for sure.
But here we are not talking about an isolated rule but about a concept behind:

Every power can only use Industrial Complexes owned by itself and it gains only income from territories controlled by itself. And all of this only if its own capital is not in enemy’s hands.

It must hurt to lose a capital: So if SU loses Russia while controlling Karelia it cannot use the factory and it does not gain income.
Why should UK be enabled to use a Russian factory then? Why should UK gain SU’s income then? Simply because of being there? UK does not control anything there at that moment. It is still SU’s control. And “team rewards” are not part of the game. There is no concept of “team control”.

If UK captures Karelia from Germany while Russia is not in SU’s hands, it can’t liberate that territory for the SU but gains control instead. It is the concept of the game that you can use fabrics and gain income from territories you control. This is a fair reward for the efforts of conquering it back from the enemy - in case this rule was not part of the ruleset, Karela would simply be liberated for a capital-less SU. No one would receive anything for that effort, so why risk anything here?

Usually when you liberate a territory for an ally controlling his capital himself, you don’t get anything either, you just strengthen your ally - that must be reward enough.

There is nothing that bothers me, personally, with the rules here. I think the concept is pretty logical and straightforward. But as I said above liking and dislinking can and will always be subject to discussions… :slightly_smiling_face:
