You mean like this?

REALLY REALLY nice Work!! From one perfectionist to (obviously) another, I know you are probably disappointed with the plastic color bleedthrough but I actually like it alot. It gives the pieces more depth and character. Wonderful job!!!
Germany represented the pinnacle of success in the summer of 1939. In the arts, technology, the socioeconomic arena……in just about everything, Germany stood at the forefront of the world. I would not have gone to war. Instead, I would have been happy with the fact that I changed Germany from a broken, failed state into one of the world’s economic powerhouses. I would have enjoyed this success and continued to strive for a better tomorrow for all Germans. I would have made all of Speer’s little models onto a reality. I would have worked for a better world…one led by German’s example, not by it’s destruction.
No. I already have an original I got for Christmas back in the 80’s so I don’t need another. Besides, they’d change something and screw it up…it always seems to work that way when they “reissue” something. For example, when they came out with the “Classic” 1959 risk game it only resembled the original. It was far from a copy of the original. I passed on that one too.
I’m sworn to secrecy at the moment. :-D All I can say is that a company other than Hasbro is coming out with a fresh idea.
I loved Bulge, and D-Day haven’t tried GC. I was very excited when D-Day was released, again excited for Bulge and again excited for GC unfortantly I never got GC due to life getting in the way but I still plan on buying it one day. I like both Bulge and D-Day so much when I started rebuilding my A&A collection I prechased them before Revised, Classic and the old Europe/Pacific games. I was so very much hoping they would cont. doing the same type of games. I was thinking and looking forward to stuff like Kursk, The Invasion of Italy, North Africa, Battle of the Atlantic, Iwo Jima, Phillpines all stuff I would have loved to have seen the light of day. Alot of people complain about D-Day, Bulge, and GC and even more people complain about how none of the games I’ve listed has ever been released. Well complaining about the games they did do isn’t a very good way of getting them to do the games you want them to do. I would love something more than just reprinting and tweeking old games.
You might be pleasantly surprised very soon my friend……
Can I sell other AH games here or only A&A related games?
I for one am eagerly looking forward to the 1984 MB yellow Japanese!! I love that color!
Most excellent!!! Those Frenchies can wait. :-D
Japan!!! That’s THE nationality I’ve been wanting for years.
And here’s a salient question……Before coach came along, how many of us pined for years (decades in some cases) for exactly the services and items that he provides? I know I did. HBG is the best thing to come along since A&A started.
The way he does it is pretty much perfect IMO. Â Coach sells sets that are just the right size to augment what already comes with your A&A but (and this is the best part) he also sells pieces individually. Â Now, if you want 10 of a particular sculpt, you don’t have to buy a bunch of stuff you don’t want just to get a particular number of what you DO want. Â It’s absolutely THE BEST way of selling if you ask me. Â You simply cannot ask for more/better customer service than that.
The pics are working just fine…
And this looks AWESOME Pac War! I would be interested in a “how to” and a cost estimate for making other games in this fashion. Please, let us know!
Unless it was mas produced, I don’t think that something like this would be cost effective. The material cost alone $45 and it was on sale! The hexgrid was drawn by hand (HOURS and HOURS of mindnumbing work) as were the other graphics. Stitching it all up was not particularly hard but there was zero room for error due to the fact that so much time went into the play area. “Oh well, I screwed that up. Just cut another piece of fabric.” was not an option. You would have to start from point zero. If I were producing this board for someone, I would not feel guilty charging $250 because it was so labor intensive. However, if you could buy cloth with a grid already printed at the price I paid, price would drow WAY down……figure $100. That would be $45 for material and $55 for time and graphics.
Something that has always vexed me with regards to a home brewed game design has been the box. It’s not enough to just come up with an idea. Just like a piece of home made furniture, you have to “finish” it properly. So, in that vein, you want a game to look aesthetically pleasing when put away on the shelf but building a box and then properly covering it with artwork can be a daunting task (at least for me). So I decided to experiment with eliminating the box entirely and making the board the box (or in this case the roll). I have taken simple abstact games and made a travel versions in the past by making the board out of cloth and wrapping or rolling the components into it. This makes it easy to pack for vacation and virtually indestructible. But they had very few and simple components. For a more complex game, you need pockets to store pieces properly and a durable yet simple system for keeping the whole thing from unraveling during transport. Plus, as stated earlier, you have to make it look nice when it’s resting. Anywho, here’s my latest experiment using one of my own game designs. The whole thing is very compact and I think that I like it even more than a box. It has an old world classic feel look to it. Tell me what you guys think please.
Here’s the game put away:

Yes, they ALL look very nice!
And they look really really nice!!! I’m especially digging the PZ II, Tiger and ME 262!!
HBG themselves doesn’t like it either. It’s just the way their software works and it’s not meant to be misleading in any way. Just be glad that we finally have access to such high quality pieces at such good prices as well as unparalleled customer service. I’ve been playing A&A since the beginning and I’ve waited a loooong time for such pieces. A little software thing is meaningless when seen from that perspective.
Yes, it was an excited manual! :-D
