RE: Global Gaming Table Threads and Pictures
Hello everyone, I have made good progress on my board and posted some new pics if anyone is interested. The tile work is just about done, only a few islands left. Next I will be moving onto the table design.

I am not sure what wood to go with yet for the table. I know I want to stain it a dark cafe brown. I have seen redwood, and poplar at the local home improvement store that look very nice. Any suggestions?
Wow, incredible. Looks like the board weighs … 75 pounds?

RE: Highlighting the map borders
I highlighted my 1942-2e map. My first pass I only highlighted the inner land borders. After some thought I decided to highlight the perimeter around every land territory (excluding islands that aren’t legal game territories) and I’m happy with the results. I can’t wait to play a game on it! 8-)

RE: Highlighting the map borders
Here are the rest of the maps.
Nice. It looks like the lines in these pics are red, but you said you used a black marker. Color problem in pics?
-
RE: Highlighting the map borders
Here is teh 1941 map marked and unmarked for comparison. I’ll post my other maps when I have more time.
Whoah!!! Your lines make a HUGE improvement to visual identification.
Can you tell us:
-
What marker make and model and color you used?
-
How you applied the lines?
-
How moch wider did you make the lines, if any?
-
Any other tips or things to avoid?

Highlighting the map borders
Similar to others, we’re having a very hard time with many of the land borders in the 2e map, especially around the Russia/Germany areas. I would like to highlight all of the land borders on the map but wanted to ask you experts what you have used, or think would work best, as a highlight color, black or white? Obviously a black marker is easy to obtain but I believe there are white paint pens that would work for white lines, but I haven’t used them so it would be a stab in the dark.
Any suggestions for us old(er) folk with poor eyes? Yes, I’m already wearing new glasses. :-P

RE: 1942 2e Victory City flag standies
Are these for sale? Or can you explain how you made them?
Even if there was just RED for Axis, and BLUE For allies, this is still awesome!
Not for sale. I’ll upload the files to BGG within a week and explain how I made them. In short I bought some model train power poles, chopped off the tops of the poles, printed my flag on label paper, and wrapped the flags around the poles. The capital tips are nuts I had in my junk collection, and are super glued to the top of the pole.

RE: 1942 2e Victory City flag standies
Those are cool. It is a very interesting take having all the Allied and Axis flags on a single banner.
Don’t know yet if I prefer that style, or would rather have each individual nation’s flag… But either way they look really great.
The reason I chose a unified flag was to make it as easy as possible to quickly see which side holds a Victory City. Sure, having a flag for each nation wouldn’t be too difficult, but this is a little bit easier.
EDIT: grammar!

1942 2e Victory City flag standies
These are pics of the 1942 2e Victory City flag stands I created. These are my 2nd and final builds, the first being twice as tall with a flag that was about 3x the area of this final version. The first version, a prototype, was just too tall and big, often interfering with unit movement and prone to being knocked over. I haven’t played with this smaller final version but, as you can see, I set them up for a short solo play to see if they interfered with unit movement. They didn’t get in my way during movement.
Close up of the flag stands. As you can see these are fictional flags for both sides, the 2 Axis powers and the 3 Allies powers. My prototype build had flags that looked too similar to each other when scattered all over the map (shown below) so the final version has more striking differences. The flags with bulbs at the top are for nation capitol cities.

Pics of the prototype flags. I didn’t take any pics of when they were mounted on the flagpoles:

Looking for specific play aids
Hi,
I’ve created a playaid for A&A 1942 2e (soon to be released) but I also thought of a couple of other playaids that would make the game easier to play. I’m wondering if anyone knows if they have already been created and where I can find them. I’ll create them if no one has.
-
Victory Condition tracking sheet. A simple score tracker to keep track of the total # of Victory Cities each side has.
-
A stand with a flagpole and flag for each Victory City, giving all of the players an easy way to quickly see all of the Victory Cities. We often play with players who haven’t played A&A much, or at all, so I thought this would be nice helper.
Anyone know if either of these exist? =)

RE: Air casualities
Thank you sir. I went over the rulebook again and I think I found the rule somewhere in the air units section.

Air casualities
As a defender in a sea zone, can I take causalities on all of my carriers, knowing my fighters in the same combat will not have a place to land? Where in the 1942 2e rules is this situation covered?

RE: 1942 2e digital rulebook?
@P@nther:
Where did you find the 1941 rulebook as pdf for download?
Please provide a link.Thank you :-)
I’m mistaken. I knew I had 2 copies of the 1941 rulebook, … we played using 2 rulebooks!! Duh, I bought two copies of the 1941 game. There is a scanned version of the 2e rulebook available (where I do not know) but I was looking for an official pdf version that contains text not just images.
Sorry. I’m easily confused! :|

1942 2e digital rulebook?
Any update from WOTC on whether or not the 1942 2e rulebook will be available? They released the 1941 rulebook and it was a great help to us, both before and during play. I printed out a copy for others to reference during play and I always use my laptop during play to quickly search a pdf rulebook when questions arise. Searching a pdf is the quickest way to find answers and rules.
I’ll contact them about this if no one has done so already.

RE: Rulebook unit profile changes
Interesting. My rulebook is the one on the right, and my pieces match the profiles.
-
What are the differences in the rulebooks?
-
Why are there two versions?
-
Which is newer?
-
What the heck happened here? lol
Anyone know the answers to these? I find it odd that there are two different rulebooks for a game that was just released.

historical board gaming dot com
Site looks great, but I wasn’t able to find what I’m looking for. Is there a set or individual pieces that cover all 12 of the units in A&A 19422e, in 5 different colors? If so, can you link them to me or send me a msg with the link, or should I contact you on that site?
