    • RE: Japan NO when at war with West Allies?

      Thanks kcdzim, but why didn’t they write it in this simpler way:
      When Japan Is at War with any number of Western Allies (United States, United Kingdom, ANZAC, France)

      The way the original text reads it seems like they need to be at war with ALL of the Allies.

    • Japan NO when at war with West Allies?

      Which allies does Japan need to be at war to meet the following condition?  The way it’s written with the ‘/’ character and the “and/or” isn’t precise.

      @rulebook:

      When Japan Is at War with the Western Allies (United States, United Kingdom/ANZAC and/or France)

    • RE: Victory Conditions

      @A&A:

      Axis & Allies is played in rounds. A round consists of each power taking a turn.

      Order of Play: Germany -> France
      One must assume after France concludes it’s turn that a round is complete.

      Nowhere is a Round defined as the start of an arbitrary nation to the start of that same nation. Otherwise, all nations that haven’t gone in that Round would not meet the “each power taking a turn” rule.

      That’s why I disagree.

    • RE: Victory Conditions

      I haven’t seen an official answer to this. I saw this vagary after my first reading of the 2e global rules.  Until I hear otherwise I’m going assume the game ends if a side controls the needed number of VCs after France’s turn is over.  The game is long and complex enough as it is, it doesn’t need additional length or complexity.

    • RE: National Objectives

      Flashman, you are not the only one that dislikes NOs. I would prefer them being optional or not part of A&A games. They are super clumsy to keep track of and, from our experiences, detract from the enjoyment instead of adding.  Now, if each nation had one NO that would be great.

      What tech rules do most people use, if any, for Global games?

      @Young:

      4. IMO you should use the 50th AE research rules, but use the 2nd Edition development charts.

      Is this the De facto standard for technology in Global?

    • Global 2e - where to start?

      Hello,

      I’m just getting into Global and have a few questions.

        1. Should I be reading and using the rules that come in the second edition Pacific and Europe boxes, with the recently released FAQs?
        1. How do whatever current Alpha rules relate to the 2e rules?
        1. With 2e, should we be looking at the Alpha rules at all?
        1. Why does Global’s technology rules go back to older editions (buy and roll n d6s at 5 IPCs each) instead one of the more recent rules, such as the one in AA50, or something a little less random?

      Thanks!  :-)

      I don’t know what compelled them to distort Africa as much as they did. It looks ridiculous. That map is terrible.  :roll:

    • RE: Game aids for Second Edition?

      The files were finally approved. Here’s what I posted in the BGG forum:

      I recently uploaded to the BGG files area the following player aids and helper files for Axis & Allies 1942 2e:

      Setup and Profile Cards:
      Setup (front) and unit profiles (back) for each nation that are easier to read than the ones included with the game. This file is meant to be printed on 5 double sided sheets, one for each nation.

      Player Aid with Sea Profiles:
      A player aid containing pictures of each sea unit profiles, order of play, turn phases, combat sequence, victory conditions, and a color coded stacking chip chart. This file is meant to be printed on both sides of one sheet of paper.

      Player Aid with Unit Profiles:
      A player aid containing unit stats, order of play, turn phases, combat sequence, victory conditions, and a color coded stacking chip chart. The back contains the unit profile chart from the manual. This file is meant to be printed on both sides of one sheet of paper.

      Victory City Flags:
      A collection of Victory City flags. These can be used to create stands to show which side controls each victory city. I printed them on label paper and folded the flag around some small posts to create small flag standies to place on the board.

      Enjoy!

    • RE: Can ships move 1 space then attack or do they have to start their turn adjacent?

      You may be confused on where combat occurs.  During the combat Move Phase units that end their move IN an enemy territory with enemy units conduct a combat in that territory. In your case, in the Combat Move Phase, sea units can move up to 2 spaces and end their turn in a sea region with enemy ships. This is the only way to conduct combat. You cannot attack from an adjacent space, you have to move INTO a space containing enemy units to conduct combat.

      Hope this helps.
