      Have there been any updates to the proposed changes or any “final” decisions?

    • RE: First draft 1914 map file

      Imperious Leader, I love your maps, but ……
      A) I would much rather have a traditional rectangle map instead of the tilted one. I see the original 1914 map “under” yours so I don’t know starting over is even possible.
      B) I don’t like production chart and mobilization zone in the Sahara dessert.  Would it be possible to at least make these two things a layer that can be toggled on/off?

      1. The Russian and Italian territories are the same color or too close to the same.
      2. I really like that there aren’t any background images cluttering up the map. I find those very distracting and unnecessary during play.

      Other than that it’s great!

      @KjBush:

      hhm, the link works but after it completely loads nothing happens, above the load bar it just says “retry”. I downloaded it and it worked fine though :D

      Same for me, in both Firefox and IE. I was able to download the file with the down-arrow button in the top-right area.

      On a related note to Gamerman’s question, what happens when you succeed on your Tech roll but roll a tech you already have? Do you roll until you get a tech you don’t have or do you lose your tech roll?

    • RE: Tank purchases still DEAD

      In the games we’ve3 played, these units are rarely purchased, in order from most rare to least.

      • AAA

      • Mech. Infantry

      • Cruiser

      All of the above are simply inferior to other options for their cost.  I’m just glad the starting setup has lots of AAA or we wound’t see them in the game, ever. They should cost 4, cruisers 11.

      I’ve wanted to try purchasing a lot of AAA somewhere (UK?) but I never do because I don’t want to ruin a 10 hour game testing some bizzaro strategy.  :/

      The map.

      I have no idea why they thought having a distorting map of a real place was a good idea. For me the game loses a lot of appeal with that goofy map.

    • RE: Magnetic carriers and air units

      I was planning on magnetizing my carriers and planes but I play on a magnetically receptive game board (huge piece of sheet metal) and I have a feeling the neodymium magnets on the carriers and planes may end up keeping the union locked onto the game board. lol

      I’ll have to test a prototype someday….

    • Global 2e: Is Central US and Ontario adjacent?

      Looking at the 2e global (Europe) map I can’t tell if Central US and Ontario are adjacent. That little south western protrusion off of Ottawa is what looks like may make contact with Central US.

      Anyone?

      I checked the TripleA map and they have a very noticeable connection between Ontario and Central US, but I don’t play that game so I’m unsure if this is the case.

    • RE: TripleA global map compared to 2e box map

      I went over every territory and sea zone and only found the “Western Canada” (on 2e maps) are “Yukon Territory” and “British Columbia” on the 1e map and TripleA’s map. I’m unsure if I missed anything.

    • TripleA global map compared to 2e box map

      Does anyone know if there are any differences in the global maps in the latest version of TripleA and the 2e global maps (Europe & Pacific)?  I want to print out the TripleA map as it’s bigger and my table can accommodate it and I like the look of it more, but I want to make sure the territories are the same and the borders. Thanks!

      I hate to go off topic folks, but the problem I had was due to some axisandallies.org resources being added to the Firefox addon AdBlock Plus’ database. I removed them and now everything is fine and dandy.

      @Gargantua:

      How about you start using a REAL browser?

      Like Internet Explorer…  ;)

      And have you tried the same machine with an alternate browser?

      As I said in my original post, the site works fine in IE, yes, on the same machine.

      @Krieghund:

      AAE40 2nd Edition Rulebook, page 28:

      Only infantry, artillery, mechanized infantry, and tanks can capture hostile territories or convert friendly neutrals.

      Thanks. I wasn’t aware of that.  : :-D

    • Firefox problems as of a few days ago

      Hello,

      A few days ago this site has been missing items, mainly or exclusively icons, as seen below. I haven’t changed anything with my computer. The site works fine in IE.
      As you can see in the screenshot, the left column is only showing “No New Posts” or “New Posts”, instead of the usual icons. Any ideas?

    • RE: Global 2nd edition Q+A ( AAG40.2)

      @Gamerman01:

      @Babubaer:

      I have seen it in TripleA, so the question is in Alpha 3+

      Can UK in NCM move a transport with only a AAgun to sz 86 than unload the transport to activate Brazil with only a AAgun?

      No.  Lone AA guns are not sufficient to take control of a territory.  It must be infantry, artillery, mech, or tank.

      I disagree. Where in the rulebook is this mentioned?  This is a quote from the Europe 1940 2e rulebook (bolding by me):

      @Europe:

      Friendly neutrals may not be attacked, and air units may not fly over them. They can be moved into (but not through) as a noncombat move by land units of a power that is at war (see Noncombat Move,” page 22).

      AAA are land units. These rules and the AAA rules do not disallow AAA from doing this.

      Someone on BGG has a global 2e map with the setups. Check either the Europe 1940 or Pacific 1940 games there.

    • RE: Global 2nd edition Q+A ( AAG40.2)

      My confusion was with Krieghund’s reply. The original question was:
      “Does the attacking sub get a free shot before the defender can submerge?”

      The post above Krieghund’s reply showed the 1940 Europe rules exactly how you and I play, the submerging sub is gone before the Surprise Striking sub can fire on it. But, in that same post Krieghund answered the above question as “yes”, the attacking sub can fire on a submerging sub, which is why I’m confused. Based on the Europe 1940 2e rules this doesn’t seem to be allowed.

      But Krieghund’s reply in this thread was “Different game, different rules”, making me think his official ruling is that the attacking sub can fire on the submerging sub.

    • RE: Global 2nd edition Q+A ( AAG40.2)

      @Krieghund:

      Different game, different rules.

      I don’t understand. The Global rules are the 1940 2e Europe rules.

      The 1940 Europe 2e rules state all decisions to Submerge or First Strike are made before dice are rolled. It also says:
      “Attacking or defending submarines that choose to
      submerge are immediately removed from the battle strip
      and returned to the game board in the contested sea zone,
      removing them from the remaining battle sequences.”

      I’m seriously confused now. lol  :|
