I really only see the stacking of german and italian planes in india as the only option. with a retake by germany a couple of rounds later. Maybe I should have gone for hawaii earler but I was trying to force you to retreat which happened, If i went straight for hawaii I was worried about loosing phillipphines.

@axis-dominion what do you think about the pacific? What was done wrong there?. Maybe lack of a good plan

I want to finish my games before a rematch, especially the one against farmboy, started over å year ago. Maybe i am struggling with motivation too 🙁

Yah sometimes we need a small break or reset. I know that helped me a lot. Motivation is pretty high again for me. Actually when I dropped out, it wasn’t from lack of motivation or anything like that, I was winning a lot and I think only struggling on two of my games, which were by no means lost, just challenging. I am showing 4 losses from dropped out games, but really only two of those may have become actual if I had continued on. Anyway, I’m trying to balance it better this time around.

As for your pac play, definitely you’ll need to be more aggressive! I think Adam does this the best, so watch some of his games against opponents who go heavy Europe.

If ANZAC can afford to pull this off, then this shows that Japan is not putting pressure on ANZAC like it should be. The issue with ANZAC is that it is forced to play a defensive role for someone. ANZAC can make some offensive moves in early game if Japan doesn’t J1 on US. It’s navy supports the US fleet, it’s air power is supporting UK or USSR, and it’s land forces are defending the homeland. If ANZAC is able to afford bombers and carriers, either the Allies are in a major win swing or Japan ain’t doing its job.

I am not worried about how it is done as long as it is obvious. attack power least to most and according to alphabete is fine. It is confusing the way it is written in the email and how it turns out in the forum post

A couple of years ago there were a few games like this but with the USSR starting with all the Chart 1 (land and production) techs. Played properly, this gave allies the advantage I would say, although the Axis still won a few.

i am not even able to take out your stack in bryansk! and there re like 20 or so more russian units around. I won’t be able to take back leningrad for another couple of rounds, Norway is lost for a looooooooooooong time. It means USA can go 100% pacific and then I am not able to take the last victory city!

Your attack in Leningrad sealed the deal!

In case you do a SL:

With a BB alive paired with your CR you will need two additional Ftr’s and have a 90% chance to win and deflect a scramble. If you add a DD you make it to 98% chance of winning the sea battle.

With a BB alive + CR + CV you will need to add one Ftr to make arround a 94% chance of winning the sea battle. Add another Ftr to come close to a 100% chance.

Without a BB you will have to add more Planes and/or newly bought units/ships to make a Allied scramble less likely.

      Example:
      The CR + 3x Ftr’s + a CV to have a 94% chance.

However, a surviving BB is allways helpful and is a high valuable piece.
But it depends on how you will use it.
If you are able to keep it, combined with a few ships and planes who are watching over it, making a Allied early tactical landing on ATL side less possible and the US player has to spend more IPCs for the ATLantic.
      Less stress for Axis Germany.

If the BB is gone and not at hand, you will have to buy units to protect the coastline and purchase a  DD blocker every now and then to prevent quickly build US strongolds on European side.

@666 yeah, fun and good game. I was pretty sure for a long time that you had this in your pocket. It was not something I just said. I think your dicing in Russia round 11 was brutal for you. It provided a window of opportunity to take down Russia in round 14 and at the same time rushing India. I think that was the turning point. It waa also important to prevent your russian stack to reach the middle east. That battle went well for me and it was certainly a battle i did not wanted to do, but kind of had to do. Overall I think i had better dice than you and that certainly counts. I am wondering if you had sacrifieced all your american air in europe a few rounds earlier combined with a british attack on berlin, how that would have turned out?

      Again, good game!

Was planning on the last ditched american air attack on berlin but never got the odds that I was comfortable with…I was too conservative in both Europe and the pacific and I really lost it in the pacific. let me know if and when you would like to play again. Thanks

Yeah, I like attacking the neutrals too much.

And shoud have taken Norway with USA.

U used ur Japanes figs to the maximum with all those ACs. And those German bombers destrupted my plans a lot. It definitely proves (together with Ur rating) that U re a top player.

I need to put my allied play on bigger level, but i am content with my Russian play in this game.

Nonetheless U re definitely a better player, but i have some impression that Allies need a bid in BM

As for surrendering, U would take Honolulu or Sydney within a rd or 2 , and prevent me from taking it back.

      @axis-dominion:

looking back at this game, I think probably your biggest mistake was to hand gib back over to the allies. I think at I4/G5, you should’ve tucked your navy into 92 and completely fortified gib. for me, that is always the most difficult axis strat to play against (see how Adam does it so well). I felt axis were off to a great start tbh, but once I saw you retreat from gib, i saw an opportunity to turn the game around.

I think also, after yielding gib back, I felt your axis play was a tad too defensive. I think you should’ve made a hard push into the Middle East with your fast divisions, before the allies could build up so much, while maintaining your slow forces in the vicinity of russia to help keep them from blowing up. and Japan does better with more mechs in Asia, instead of the slower inf.

other than that, your play is fairly solid. I think you’re very close to mastery.

Good stuff, I considered to fortify gib with my fleets, but chickened out after one round, mostly because I was afraid of a 1,2 punch with usa/Britain. You had like ton of fighters sitting in london, but maybe that is a great trade off for axis

      Thanks fir the words.
I am afraid I can’t say anything , as I can’t remember! Is bad, but I have that problem. I thought I was doing fine , with a good TUV lead , then bang lost Moscow and India on same turn. Could see it was happening. Perhaps, should have reacted differently. Was not coming back from that.
Guinea: just thought it was a waste . You always had enough TTs to take Solomons or Gilbert Islands . Seemed pointless .Thought it was better to have you worry that I could land anywhere , than throw away my TTs. Again, in the Pacific , after taking  the Carolines felt I was doing okay. Proved elusive. I am sure I should have handled things differently, but, ultimately, you were better.
I was bereft of ideas. You proved the best player I have faced in a while.

      @JuanSpain:

Good game! You were better since the beginning.

My Allies keep weak and were very slow, never recovered from that scramble mistake in 110 in G1 that facilitated med to the Axis. You could have even controlled completelly the game before, just by joining your fleets outside Gib instead of splitting them in round 6 or 7 (dont remember exactly which round it was).

My only chance was Marti help in this Moscow combat because the Allies were just creating a 20 IPC gap globally, but you did what you had to do (attack) and the result was fair. Around TUV 0 I would have continued some more, not with this +150.

Good game from your side too I think. I have definately learned a few things in our two games. I was considering to merge the fleets of Gib, but was somewhat worried about a double punch, you had a number of british fighters in london. I didn’t calculate it in detail though. I guess this is where I did the stupid misstake of exposing my BB. But you are probably right that a combined fleet of Gibraltar would be better

This last round I feel I didn’t really have any other choice than to attack and see what happened. I kind of considered delaying it one more round as you didn’t have many reinforcements coming to Moscow, but instead guys would start to pop up in caucasus i assume, so yeah I went for it and had better luck than you in the battle. I think I was supposed to be +70 or 80 and ended up with 10 armour more than expected. In the opposite outcome of loosing 10 armour more than expected (TUV 0) it would be a lot of work left to do

You really think that scramble order in round 1 is the key to what happened in this game? Hmmm. You could also have invested more on the european side earlier. You really need 5 carriers in europe?

Thanks for all the good words, it was a privilege playing this game against you. I think you are a fair and one of the cleanest players in the league, no funny business or moves from your side, everything is declared and no room for misunderstandings. Perfect.

I think the game we played last year gave me a lot of valuable information about your style too. So I knew what was coming,  extremely aggressive allied play. It is very difficult to face for the axis,  but eventually the key is to allow the allies to run out of steam I think, while not loosing axis air.

I think moving the German bombers to Pacific caused trouble for you,  because blocking becomes too expensive or combined with the marginal allied sea forces.

Overall I think the move to Norway was not soo good, maybe a little early,  or maybe combined with NOT moving out of Moscow is better. At least then you make me make a decision. It would probably be to take Moscow,  but then at least your Atlantic push would be there.

I also like the way you put pressure on italy and secures Gibraltar with minimum effort.

Good luck in your next games!
