      I think it was mentioned by @farmboy to award 5 points to wins against tier 3. I think that is a good suggestion. Also you could remove the 3 game cap, so you have a rating after 1 game, it also means you would earn 5 points if you beat an unranked player:

      A win against an unranked, tier 3 or tier 2 is awarded with 5 points. By removing the 3 game rule before you are ranked you also make it easier for new players to find opponents and also the player welcoming the new player is awarded with points (if he wins) in case the new player just leaves.

      It means especially tier 1 and tier E will have an easier time maintaining their ranking, but does that really matter? There will also be more tier 1 and tier E players which in turn will benefit tier M players as well

      the axis attack on yunnan is a no brainer in a no bid game, it is also a no brainer as long as bids are not placed here or to support yunnan. Yunnan should not be attacked by axis if bid 2 fighters and and 1nf, 1 fighter and 1 inf is also questionable

      i ask of examples where allies should make a stand at 10 or 20% chance elsewhere (not yunnan) I agree making a stand is a good move, but I am unsure about 10-20 % chance. Of course if this means disaster elsewhere I 100% agree. Can you pin point examples? i am just curious!

      How about this:

      Initially i would have attacked Philips because of the +7 for usa and +2 for japan. I would probably have left one of the other smal batles behind. I dont think I have enough resources to do everything. And starting to mess around with rerolls and leave some battles as is seems complicated.

      I thik we go with no Philips attack and give you +7. That means you just adjust your buy THIS past round with +7 for Japan, just place the extra units/edit your entre buy if you like on USA east or West Coast. In addition take -2 away for Japan. I have saved money both last two rounds so it does not make a difference. You need to save your tranny this round then.

      I think maybe it is apropriate to do a recap of where we are right now. Are we proposing to start everyone at 1500 on jan 1 or are we using past history?

      How are we handling play offs and different versions?

      In the spread sheets i see unknown players with few games and fairly hig rankings. It is not really a concern, but maybe you should stay at 1500 rating until you have 3 games? Is that possible to include?

      These are the numbers at the bottom of the “data” spreadsheet and show how much rating has changed depending on prior rating and who actually won the game. For the five first entries the increase in rating and decrease in rating is the same. To me this makes sense and the relative change is given by difference in original rating and who won the game.

      Some of the other entries seem more random (I am sure there is a reason though). In one of the games the winner gained 58 points whereas the loser lost 37 points. How does this relate to the first 5 entries? I think this is important to understand. It is not obvious to me. Please explain.

      I am making different posts. Here is another one… It is mostly just an observation and not any criticism. Using myself as an example I am currently rated no 3 in the elo system for the OOB playoffs starting 01.01.2024 as I have finished the required 3 game cap.

      In gamerman01*s spreadsheet I am currently tied for 8 th place and it is give or take if I will qualify for the top bracket or not

      This tells me that my results in 2022 (and maybe in 2021) stil count considerably towards my current elo rating.

      This might not be a problem, but it also may indicate a higher barrier for new players to qualify for the top bracket. I know there has been som discussions around how to place new players rapidly.

      Maybe, it is appropiate that the designing crew give a highlight of how the elo system works both with new players vs old players and how this relate to the 3 game cap and prior years influence. Also see my post above about about the sum of gain/loss not always equals zero

      Finally, again this is not negative thoughts. I just dont fully understand how everything comes together and would like to understand better before the change becomes active on 01.01.2024

      I just want to reword my question. But first of all its fine to leave things the way they are.

      I think what I would like to understand better is how much games count. You say games i played 15 games ago dont really count anymore. But do they count 5%, 10% or 0.001%. For the skilled people here it should be possible to put a number on this,. If at all possible give a number on all the last 10 to 15 games. My blunder 10 games ago cost me 100 in rating, how much do i suffer from this after 10 games cimpared to not having played the blunder game? It is this kind of questions I have. Give numbers on this or explain how i can figure it out myself!

      In general I am with you with edits and re-rolls. I like to stick with the dice and suck it up. Easy for me to say today with that G1, but look at my current game against MrRoboto, not so much fun for the allies G1 there…

      Edits. I think NCM edits are OK. I will almost always ever never (makes sense???) ask for edits of any kind if I have posted and you have moved. I think combats edits are OK, if you clearly missed a battle and want forum dice. But I will do my very best to avoid edits of any kind because I dont like it

      Yeah, it is rough going there for you, obviously Paris is bad and now there is an option for a french counter! 106 is also bad, but you win the 50:50 cruiser battle so, I dont know and Yugo is normal, but like you say above avaerage for me

      i take it! But the importance of G1 tends to be overestimated like @farmboy once said to me. I think he is right. I reckon you have a 60-70% win chance right now

      I am happy I bid two inf for egypt, but med will be a chhalenge, like you say, without the bid. We will see what i do. Coming up tomorrow. The map is weird

      but the tranny in 106 is of course nice, its a hassle to deal with the 106 axis subs, so thats good news, but gibraltar will be dificult here

      I think thats about right, you were supposed to be +28 and ended up +4. so 24 is about 4 mech and 2 art more than the average 7 inf + 1 art. My fighter missed the last 3 rounds of the battle too, so it could have been much worse… I am not expecting that to bring much joy to you though

      definately it should be possible to filter for active players. The current format is close to useless for browsing relative strength of active players
