      O

@dawgoneit Well, thanks for the pair of games. It was good to get practice in learning the new board, and the new rules. There is a version 6.0 that you can upgrade to, and it modifies the map a little in the South Pacific.

I like PTV a little better than BM3. I think it makes for a more historical game, by putting greater value on Mayala (Singapore), making it a Victory city, and de-emphasizing French Indo-China and its adjacent sea zone, from which Axis BM3 players can threaten India from with a placed Naval Base.

I like the land and carrier scramble rules. I also like the map mods in China and USSR, making it harder for Japan to dominate China, and harder for the Germans to surround Moscow, which happens so often in BM3.

It also gives most Pacific islands 2 adjacent sea zones, and I like the new play dynamic that those changes bring to the game.

I’ve been attaching bids for axis to most of my games now but since this one went with no bid, it would only be fair to do it no bid. Will set it up.

I certainly found this one fun too.

Yeah, PTV is pretty interesting. It seems to open up many more strategies. It’s definitely a brain-burner. Right, looking forward to the next one. I’ll set up the next one soon.

      O

Thanks! Early on I thought the Allies would win, especially after my failed attack in Belarus, but slowly and carefully the Axis fought back. Thanks for the pair of games. I learned a lot from your excellent Axis play (an extremely effective J2, as I recall) in the first game, but I wasn’t able to use it very effectively when I played Axis against you. In this game, I thought your Allied naval base in Mexico was a brilliant move, which I had totally overlooked until you took back Hawaii a turn before I expected. I was glad I only lost a transport with that oversight. Best wishes with your future gaming. I think I need to take a leave of absence for a while after I finish my other 2 games. This pace has taken too my of my time and brainpower. But it was fun!

You post the result by "reply"ing to the “Post League Game Results Here” thread. You say “OwenToo (Axis) wins over Samuel06 (Allies)”, and you also add the URL of our game to the posting so that Gamerman can check it.

      O

Thanks! I enjoy your comments throughout the game. It was a good game, and a lot of fun.

I think that your initial aggressiveness against Japan hurt you, and even though you sank some carriers in SZ6 early on, you lost several aircraft, and it (your overall aggressiveness against Japan) diverted your attention and resources from threatening Europe sooner. I think in the game, as in the real war, the Allies are best off using a “Europe first” strategy.

Please post the results in the “Post League Game Results Here” thread, as it is the conceding players responsibility to do so.

Enjoy the family in the coming days. I will look forward to your G1 next week!

      @OwenToo said in TripleA engine - Known rules-related bugs/issues:

In TripleA, Why are air units allowed to fly through the Turkish Straits when Turkey in Neutral?

That’s legal. You don’t overfly Turkey when you overfly the strait.

      Hi Owen
Thanks for a good game. There where some massive diceswings in this one again.
It seems that is the name of the game in our battles.
But I’m up for a new game with switch sides.
And I dont think I’ll advance in the Playoffs. I had a terrible turn 2 with japan where all aircrafts but 2 bombers got shot down by china and russia. But I haven’t thrown in the towel yet and I hope to force some big 40-60 fights and with a little luck I might be back in.
But I’ll PM you when the new game is up and running
      Best regards

Thank you for a great game.
Moscow was decisive in this game and i was lucky as well.
You played a very strong Japan and it kept me very busy to react accordingly to your moves.

      Thanks for the game.

I think I got  lucky this time around too. My AA especially definitely helped me at the right times (especially Norway and your last bombing run on India).

I think we both played quite well but made key blunders. Since you didn’t catch my mistake with the US/UK air in greece, 55 though was probably the decisive one.  The Pacific is often hard for Japan to manage when the US really focuses on it.But if Japan could have stayed dangerous for another couple of turns than you might have had the time you needed for Europe.

I was also super relieved that you didn’t turn the tanks around. I was in a strong enough position that maybe I could have survived losing Moscow, but I’m glad I didn’t have to test that.

And for sure we can do another in the new year. These two games were a lot of fun.

Good luck with your other games.
