      Hey, if any of you guys have table top simulator on steam and want to play a global 1939 version, just hit me up. Steam name is HoveringKiller. Me and some friends are trying to get around 6 people to start up a game here soon. I’ve made sure everything is correct set-up wise, and have added in paper IPC’s if that is your thing as well.

      @otahere34:

      People need to read. It is not which axis country you prefer to play. It is the one you KILL first. Jeeze.

      Just a suggestion, but edit (click on modify) your first post to say “kill” and problem solved.

      I think this changes due to axis strats

      Italy is probably the easiest to kill off, but it might be better to just contain them. Once their navy is gone, you can usually convoy them down next to nothing with some effort (if Germany is fighting in the Med to help Italy, they are lacking someplace else). Italy’s capital is exposed the most IMO. They have a hard time keeping the determined allies out of the Med. They can only build 3 units at their capital, and the allies have that deadly 1-2 punch with US/UK going back to back.

      3.5 is just changes made to the original 3 setup. I was confused because I got cards from here saying that there was no italian destroyer and transport in 96 and I was just questioning if it had been removed. We have since marked those ships on our cards.

      Actually it’s even worse than that if your Canadian considering “Britsh Columbia” and "Yukon Territory merged into “Western Canada”. Of course gameplay is affected little to zilch by this revision.

      Sorry i’m getting national objectives confused with national advantages. sorry and thanks i’ll use your advice

      National advantages weren’t included in the 1940 editions, only national objectives, and political situations.

      If he doesn’t do sealion before a war with Russia starts, use your air force to prevent it from ever happening. Also build a huge assault force to take out Italy (by far the weakest axis,) and plunder from them. This force can soon be used in liberating France. Make sure you do it before Germany can take out Moscow, so it is indeed like a race based on time. Also make sure that Japan doesn’t get too excited, but remember. If the Japanese player seems to not be interested in Russia and if you can build a navy to hold him back whatever Japan does is useless. Japan takes over China, ANZAC, and Pacific British income. Who cares? The Allies need to capture all the capitals, not all the cities. Like I said take out Rome then slowing lead to the fall of Berlin, then do some damage control in the Pacific and build a force to take out Japan. Also have the other allies to build planes to fly around and hit Japanese stuff, either their troops or boats.

      My two cents says - if Germany attacks G1, then builds armor repeatedly, they’ll see a shortage of infantry soon enough. Their entire western flank, as said by others, will be eroded quickly. Killing tanks with infantry/artillery and a couple planes will be a nice laugh.

      Don’t forget the power of the strafe to whittle down your opponent’s fodder, then fall back into reinforced positions.

      As far as infantry vs. aircraft, oh yes. Most of my early games saw me buy an aircraft for the first three rounds - I like 4 fighters/2 tacs with Russia - but I’ve abandoned that over my past 3-4 games in favor of the all meat and potatoes purchase… land units only. After all, this isn’t a trade war we’re interested in, but a game of taking and holding key positions. The days of trade wars are over, imo. They were left behind in Anniversary. Aircraft can’t take a piece of land… all it can do is kill and retreat. I now prefer to set up overlapping defensive structures with a slowly growing mobile reserve, to be able to threaten multiple places.

      Russia has to learn that they don’t have to fight for every IPC. Some are ok to let go. A trade war will result in a gradual erosion of Russian land units, and death.

      Our games normally see the Germans build some fleet (including a couple tpts). Agreed Gibr gives many options (no AB makes it somewhat riskier), but if US comes to Norway via Gib (they can see it coming), then the Germans can delay it by simply building (or moving) a dd off coast of Normandy (sz 110) to block them for a turn. So the US (if is still going north) will normally kill the dd (move to sz 110), and have the UK build a carrier (add/planes) to try to keep the Germans from hitting them (provided the UK is still in the game). Then the US can probably take Norway (UK can land air to def), but the Germans again can be ready to counter it from the Baltic. Again our games usually see some navy builds for the Germans, and the western allies will need a good sized fleet to get close to shore.

      @Alsch91:

      Sounds fine to me Jen.  I apologize if I came off as arrogant; I’m simply interested in which tipped the Sealion balance more strongly - 5 more hits for UK vs 1 more Strat and a weaker France for Germany.

      Well, it’s more than just 5 hits lost.  England lost, at a minimum, 13 Punch as well but that’s only looking at what units you no longer have to bring to the fight, you are not looking at the losses due to Convoy Raids that cannot be stopped (no destroyers left) nor the Strategic Bombers hitting the Complex.  Between CRD and SBR England should lose another 6 units.  So now England is down 11 Hits and 25 Punch and that is very significant really.

      @suprise:

      The A +3 seems to make it easier for the Allies than the A +2
        Still more testing to be done. the Axis could use 24$  extra at the start to share or give to one and place the pieces before the purchase  or include with the purchase and put them out at deployment something an extra little kick or something
        I was hoping for a more balanced game  but that was just the 1st one
        More testing still to be done

      I don’t know about an extra 24 ipcs, im thinking maybe a bid for axis that starts at like 20-24 is best.

      I might be able to play against your axis too otahere. if you don’t mind little long waits between some turns.

      We haven’t really run into the problem of Russia attacking Japan Turn 1, mostly because of what Japan starts with in Korea and Manchuria would obliterate the Inf they could use.
      Japan usually attacks Russia on their first turn (at least in the group I play with), so it’s almost always Russia getting the fuzzy end of the lollypop.
