I think it is actually fairly hard to win on the pacific baord. I usually am just a distractor for Germany to win.

I would like to see my friend play against one of you guys because he pulls it off every time.

@Cow:
Once you get sea lion play figured out. All your future games will never be fun or exciting.
Could always do what some people do. NO SEALION UNTIL RUSSIA FALLS OR YOU WILL BE THROWN OUT AND STOMPED ON. My favorite house rule. :)
This is what happens when we play. It’s not a house rule, the player who usually plays Germany has in his mindset that if Russia doesn’t fall, you’ve lost the war. He always attacks G1 and it is pretty tough to beat.

RE: Next axis and allies game should be?posted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
Bigger global lol. I think they should make a battle for Stalingrad map like they made for battle of the buldge, D-day, or Guadalcanal.

Infantry are good for the defense of capitols or importatant territories because you can get a mass of them easily in one place. I’d rather deal with 3 tanks than 6 inf because I have to get that many more hits to destroy the infantry.

RE: Cards for Axis and Allies 1940posted in House Rules
These are pretty cool. If you don’t already have this card, it could be a battle of the buldge type card. When German forces attack allied forces on Europe the allied forces don’t get to roll the first round. For Japan you could have a Pearl Harbor type card, where the first time you attack the U.S. navy, they don’t roll the first round. IDK for Italy cause i don’t really know to much about them.

RE: Alpha+3 questionposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I am not sure. I haven’t played either game by themselves at all as I waited until Europe was out and bought both of them. You could try it though and see how it works out.

RE: Strict Barbarossa viable?posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I have a friend who does this, but he purchases only tanks until after moscow falls. He doesn’t beleive in infantry and is very 1 unit minded in all the countries he plays. That being said, moscow usually falls, and it is extremely hard to stop as he has stacks of 3-6 tanks in every territory in the west.
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.
2 infantry > 1 tank everytime.
Your friend is a fool. You should crush him!
Yes but I never get the opprotunity to play Russia. Our usual Russian player never buys just inf in moscow. The one game he did, after he got like 30 inf he switched to arty and had like 40-50+units in moscow but attacked a small german force with 6 inf 6 arty, but germany just bypassed it and attacked. He was left with one tank, Russia took Moscow back, but Germany had like 15 extra tanks in range. It was a disaster.

I personally think that Alpha 3 is in favor of the axis. They win more often than not in our games. IDK that could be just from poor allied planning but they still pull off a few victories.

RE: Alpha+3 questionposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Alpha 3 is for global and global only it seems to me. Alot of the U.S. no’s in the global game are based in the pacific so that wouldn’t do to well in Europe. Likewise, the Paficic baord for the U.S. is so small in IPC territorial Value that even with all those NO’s it is nearly imposibly to be the industrial Giant they were.

People need to read. It is not which axis country you prefer to play. It is the one you KILL first. Jeeze.

RE: Hawaiiposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I think it is more relevant to take Guam, Wake, and possibly midway first. That will give your aircraft the ability to reach anywhere in the pacific reducing the need for tons of AC’s. Hawaii is always a later objective for me in the game as I usually tend to go south towards the money Islands before I worry about America too much.

RE: Alpha 3.5posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
3.5 is just changes made to the original 3 setup. I was confused because I got cards from here saying that there was no italian destroyer and transport in 96 and I was just questioning if it had been removed. We have since marked those ships on our cards.

RE: Cards for Axis and Allies 1940posted in House Rules
I really don’t think anything should be off limits. If someone is offended by something you make, then they can either choose to accept that even though they were horrible people, they did play a major part, and use your cards, or just not use your cards at all. That’s just my opinion though, and some people might object. I have no problem is what I guess I’m saying.

RE: Which Countryposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Which country do you try to defeat as the allies first. Usually I go after Germany/italy because I have found it is harder for Japan to win on the Pacific board and it is fairly easy for Germany to win on the Europe board. I usually build a sea base on midway and station my pacific fleet there, so at least I have time to build a counter attack fleet if he goes after Hawaii. I canabalize some of my pacific fleet to the atlantic so I can knock out Germany before they take russia.

RE: Which Countryposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
A big challenge to take Italy? I never really though so, as in one game we had a british and american force consisting of 3 transports each with 3 inf 2 arty and 1 tank on each, and one american cruiser, and took all of italy. Of course he got it back using units from egypt, but he was pretty much contained after that.

RE: Which Countryposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Yes James thanks for clarifying, and don’t forget an explanation as to why you try to defeat them first. I’m going to reset the polls now that its clarified.

Which Countryposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I’m very curious as to which power you go after first. My gaming group found that if we go about 70% europe and 30% pacific, it is usually enough to stop the Japs from getting those extra VC’s in hawaii and Sydney, while taking out Germany/Italy before they can get all their VC’s which are fairly easy to get. (Paris, Moscow, Leningrad, Stalingrad, Cairo)

RE: Any news on reprint of both games ? Im hesitant to buy copies currently ><posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
None of the errors really ever bothered me. I don’t really see why missprints are that big of a deal. I just took the game and played it with my friends. So far we have not had any piece shortages but you never know.
