Just get enough on Europe side to take pressure off of U.K. and Russia, then wittling down japan till they are standing on a half a leg.

RE: US#1 Buys - ROCmonster's Videoposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I usually like to build up a small invasion force on both maps. There are usually enough ships to start in the Pacific that I’ll be ok for like the first turn or 2 but I usually like 6 transports A1, 3 on each side, followed by getting 4 inf 2 art and 2 tanks on each cost to head off for small entering invasions.

RE: What do do with Germanyposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
So should I take norway as america and build a complex there to put fresh units into the fight in europe while still shipping some over?

RE: What do do with Germanyposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
He now said he is going to destroy the brit navy turn 1, but after that he is almost always done with the British. Last game we fought over France since the beginning as Britain took Normandy back turn 2 and since heavy german forces were all east, France was liberated turn 3 then reinforced turn 4 by America. He kept boasting that his massive panzer army (some 10-11 new tanks per turn) was going to win the war but they were all landlocked in europe, and most of them were in Russia.

But the player never ever builds a navy or anything for sealion. He just goes after russia which lets the U.K. do almost whatever he wants to do. All he really does is destroy the navy then everything is sent east. He at one time didn’t even do that, until I invaded france on turn 2.

We usually play alpha 3 but we don’t use the AA gun rule or victory conditions. We make the victory conditions to where they have to control 7 on Europe and 6 in pacific. The only thing with AA guns is we don’t take them as casualties

Cmdr Jennifer could you please elaborate on your strategy more in dealing with tank rushes/tank spaming. I like the invade norway idea as U.S. to build up fleet

He used to only sink my stuff in the convoy zone, but now he goes after my whole navy. The R1 attack is more of a Buffer as he calls it. Last game I landed in france with U.K. and with U.S. reiforcments began the fight for france which was liberated several times.

RE: Oil Centers in AAG40posted in House Rules
What if instead of using the oil centers for IPC value, what if you somehow came up with a rule about using oil, and depleating your oil resources. This is just an idea in progress, but I thought of it thinking how Germany began to run low on oil towards the end of the war.
Each oil center produces so many thousands of barrels of oil per turn (can be more first in my head though). Each mechanical device can only be purchased if you have enough oil. EX. Iraq produces 40 thousand barrels of oil per turn and Germany controls it, so germany gets 40,000 barrels of oil per turn. However, for each tank on the board, he has to use 1,000 barrels per turn, each airplane, 500 and so on. If he doesn’t have enough oil, he can only move units for which he has enough oil. So say he has 35 tanks (35,000 barrels) and 20 airplanes (10,000 barrels). He would only be able to move a combination of units that equals 40,000 barrels of oil.
The 000 at the end could be cut off for easy adding purposes 40 barrels 1 per tank and soo on. Just an idea but sounds fun.

RE: What do do with Germanyposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
We just played another game and more tank spam. Its really getting annoying so how do you deal with it? he always attacks G1 so I can’t pull back my beggining forces for an attack around his weak spots. Plus it seams as soon as I destroy something, 7-10 tanks come to replace it. HELP!!!

RE: What do do with Germanyposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
We just played a game this weekend and the player who tank spams played Germany. He actually got moscow but skipped over leningrad. but after that, he had no real naval/air defense from the U.K. U.S. navies.

What do do with Germanyposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
In the games I have played, I have seen 2 different approches to playing as Germany. In both they sacked france, and destroyed a majority of the british fleet, mainly the transports. However after that, everything is different. One buys some navy, and the other one just buys tanks. The first one sets up the infrastructure, and attacks Russia on turn 4. The latter usually just attacks Russia. The first one usally leaves normandy on G1 and takes southern france, but they focus on destroying the U.K. transporst on G1. The other just keeps spamming tanks at Russia. I would like your opinions about which one is better.
I know that most people threaten a Sea Lion, but they usually don’t.

RE: Japanese Strategy with Alpha 3posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Thanks for the tips. Usually the player who plays Russia and I make peace, and he doesn’t pool the forces together, but moves to block my route to moscow by moving the 2 stacks of 6 above amur east and the stack farthest east moves towards the capitol.

RE: Speacilized units according to countryposted in House Rules
Lol well that was the first color that came to mind for them.

RE: Speacilized units according to countryposted in House Rules
However, if you choose to use heavy tanks, then that is fine for you. Here are the colors for the specific countries because I see I left some out
Germany: Grey
Russia: Pink
Japan: Red
U.S.: Dark Green
U.K./ANZAC: White
Italy: Light Brown (not as light as original U.K. pieces)Any other suggestions are welcome.

RE: Speacilized units according to countryposted in House Rules
They did although they were more extensively used in the russo-finish war. Amd pink because i wamted to keep them the same base color and u cant really make them darker red

RE: Speacilized units according to countryposted in House Rules
Pink infantry. There just painted pink. Teletanks were russion remote control tanks controlled by a control tank hence needing 2 hits to destroy 1 to destroy the robot tank and 1 to kill the control tank.

RE: Speacilized units according to countryposted in House Rules
here are the answers
1: The number was going to be the number of pieces to paint, but it makes more sense that the number would be the max number of units there can be on the board.
2: No, you can only score to hits, but you choose the best hit. So say you roll a 3 and 5. You score a hit. If you roll a 3 and 4 you still only score one hit. (subject to change)
3: Yes, Forgot to mention that in my post, thanks for clarifying.
4: Yes. Sorry for not being clearer.
