    • RE: Europe Requests

Due to time limit, we are likely going to play the separate games alot. But when we can, say vacations, of course we will give a try at the global

      Robert

ps : Oh, i’m not talking about forum gameplay, only Face to face. Online, no problem with global. We just need to wait for a release of abattlemap

Do you seriously think you can bomb an Airbase with fighter that can intercept :? :? :?

That being said, liming the number of planes to scramble based on the AB status seem a good idea. Not sure though. The only “stacks” I’ve seen were between HAW and Carolinas

    • RE: Why are there Canadian roundels? A new rule perhaps?

I was merely replying to the comment about Polish Cavalry.

They were beaten badly. So were most countries. Thing is, no need to bring back the old Nazi propaganda. Its like a joke that isn’t really funny.

But again, we can all agree that all allied played a part in the victory. Whether one country’s aid was decisive or not, no one can know for sure. Let’s just keep it that way. No need to take all the glory for yourself.

WWII shows that most countries who were attacked by Germany lost pretty badly. Thank Russia for saving the world!

      Canadian skating infantry :
      3ipc
      1/2/1

Has 2 movement during uneven turn :) (snow!)

You do know the Polish cavalry was made bigger than it was by nazi propaganda?

    • RE: Idea for US

20 ipc? No, probably around 30

Remember, they have 17 in the Pacific. If CUS and EUS, I would expect at least 10 more ipc.

    • RE: Power Groupings - Global Game

In real life, you can probably mix the teams depending on what people want, no problem

But I agree with Func, for online gameplay, it could be wise to group the nations together to increase the speed

    • RE: Carolinas

Basile is referring to the game we played where I was USA and he was Japan. He indeed kept Carolina all the time with only 1 inf and 2 fighter as I was too preoccupied at leading a war in the Japanese seas. It didn’t work pretty as planned and the Allies conceded the game. I can see Carolina as a key position because it opens up a lot of option to the player who has it

    • RE: Carolinas

Problem #1 : If the US player builds at least 1 transport each turn, you will need more than that to hold Carolina.

Problem #2 : If USA gets Carolina (say with 3-4 transport and still have 2-3 full), he is in range of the money island next turn. Anzac can easily put some planes on Carolina to increase its defense against a Japanese counterattack

I really the can only work in the European theather, and likely, only on ground.

Its very unreasonable to think that 1 destroyer can block an entire fleet from moving. Thus, giving the opportunity to Anzac to clear WEAK defense is acceptable

We could use the same logic for Europe. But since the map is supposed to be BIGGER, I blame the Allies for letting the Axis gather a huge army of mech inf + tank near Russia’s capital to exploit a possible can opener

      @Gwlachmai
The thing is : if they put all States, you will never be able to fly Aircraft one side to another! Just imagine the time lost in transporting troops for coast to coast. Of course, some people would be happy, because it will ‘split’ the US income.

Me and my friends actually believe that all of the provinces will be shown

Why bother with British Colombia and Yukon if its not to show all of the provinces and territories? In the old games, it was Western Canada (just like its WUSA, CUSA, EUSA)

So, if Canada gets all its provinces, and assuming no major mistakes, the East (Ontario and Quebec) are probably going to be 2-3 (or maybe more, but I doubt) ipc territory

      So
      British Colombia = 1ipc
Alberta = 1 ipc (sorry folks, no oil yet :)
      Saskatchewan = 1 ipc
      Manitoba = 1 ipc
Ontaria = 3 ipc (its probably the richest Canadian province at that time)
Quebec = 2 ipc (really not sure about this one. I’m pretty sure Quebec gets its economy boom after the war)
      New Brunswick =1 ipc
      Prince Edward = 0-1 ipc
      New Scotland = 1 ipc
      New Foundland = 1ipc
Northern territories/Nunavut = 0 ipc (If its worth anything, its 1)

No harm intended against my fellow Canadian friends. I’m just speaking gameplay and not about the general value of each province.

There will likely be some naval port and air port in the East coast. Where? I don’t know enough about WWII and Canadian history to speak.

Again, these are just estimations. I don’t have extensive knowledge of Canadian economy during WWII to know if its correct or not. Maybe someone else can complete the work?

Canada could easily fetch in the 12-15 ipc. That should be enough for Canada to be an Allied power right? Anzac has 10. So if Canada can get more. Plus, if they have 1-2 NO, that should be decent enough.

It will obviously weaken UK (if Canada is indeed separated). But that being said, I still see UK being in the 40, maybe even 50 ipc at the start of the game (don’t forget that he will lose alot of money against Japan in the Pacific (Borneo, Kwantung are easily taken.)

    • RE: Do you want canada as a power

While its still speculation, I’d like to say that I want to build a Canadian AC :P

That said, I think I can agree with SilverAngelSurfer. I doubt Canada will get any unique troops though :O
If the box for AAE40 is as big as AA40P, we will have room for 5 “major” countries

      Germany
      Russia
      USA
      UK
      Italy

Unique French infantries? (I remember reading this somewhere)

Maybe unique Canadian infantries if Canada gets some separate stuff. Otherwise, I don’t see how Canada would get its own units.

    • RE: Lets talk UK builds…

UK and Anzac can easily grab the money island IF Japan let them do so. In which, case the support ships can just stay behind and wait for the japanese Transports/fleet to come. I think UK really don’t need to keep its transport alive, especially if it can lead Japan to attack first and bringing usa into the war. If Japan REALLY ignore UK, I think some ship can be useful, but not too much. Ground troops are still the way to go

but for that to work, we need to know if Sea lion is truly feasible. Otherwise, the rule won’t be needed

splitting the power will make the battle of Atlantic very interesting. With extra sea zones too!

I’m very excited about Europe. Hopefully, it can live up with our expectations!

    • RE: Making Airbases Required for Flight/Landing

This would push realism into the right direction. At the same time, lowering Planes use on the ground and probably making Bomber all godly (since they have huge range)

This would definately make Japan weaker in the current Pacific game, no doubt about this. Maybe UK and Anzac too

    • RE: Rethink of usa capture

I just think these kind of games are really lame. Just like the old capture UK first turn with Germany. It defeats the purpose of playing the game. If the gamble fails, welll I suppose Japan just lose? If the gamble wins, then the game is over?

    • RE: Lets talk UK builds…

Butcher is correct to point out that UK already has 5 air unit.

However, although the big of my purchases are Infantry, I do not hesitate to buy Mech inf for better movement speed.

Also, depending on what my opponent send to Asia (if Japan goes heavily into China, I will certainly consider more Mech + More tanks)

I try to build some more plane, ideally Bomber if you can save up for them. Their range cannot be neglected and can easily give more offensive power to your marching army.

Naval build can come in handy from time to time. If possible, transports to trade for the money islands is a great idea. Usually, Japan will be able to retake them. The idea is to force him to concede the money island, or to send in transports lightly escorted (That you can take down with your air force)

Its very hard to determine what are the optimal purchases, if there are no optimal Japanese movements.
