@SeaYa I might do that physical option. It’s a split nine to ten hour with two stops, one down and one back. That would work pretty well, if a bit different.

I would like to know if anyone has successfully miniaturized the game into an accessible size to be portable for a long vehicle ride. I’m thinking of simply magnetizing d-day, but does anyone have other ideas?

@SuperbattleshipYamato you’re right, but it is mostly for physical boards, like you said. I still have almost no idea how to use or install triplea, though. It also gives an extra player.

@SuperbattleshipYamato no problem. I decided to make them axis due to the small historical precedent that the Vichy government fought Britain when the brits bombed the Vichy fleet in Casablanca at the beginning of torch.

@SuperbattleshipYamato they are an axis power, similar in strength to Italy, though still the weakest. The destroyer off Madagascar is Vichy.

My idea for Vichy is that after Germany takes France, the Axis( or Italian in bigger games) player places three French infantry in actual France, and southern France becomes the capital of a Vichy France. The Sub Saharan infantry becomes British, and so does the cruiser in the English channel as well as French units in England. The French cruiser and destroyer in the Mediterranean start in the sea zone above Algeria. Vichy has 10 ipcs per turn. This hasn’t been playtested, so may need to be tweaked. As I am a student, I cannot check this idea out until Thanksgiving break.

If renegade sponsored an official tournament, however, we could host a set of prelims at game conventions around the world, leading to continental tournaments, leading up to a championship game. This is different to chess, however, where they have multiple tournaments.

True. However, to some, the feel and movement of the real game is proffered by some.

@djensen I think it might make sense to boil down bulge, d-day, and Guadalcanal into one round, letting players choose, as not all players have all three. Here’s my list.

@djensen Why are we not including both d-day and bulge? I suppose it would make sense as many only have d-day and bulge deserves love.

@DoManMacgee I agree with you. Some consider Global War 1936-45 an A&A game. I’m not saying that it can’t be considered one, but if we’re only using mainline games, does it count? After all, it’s not manufactured by Hasbro, who holds the rights, or Renegade, who manufactures the game currently.

@vodot That is absolutely true. Perhaps the idea of an international tournament with a world champion isn’t so far fetched. Though there should probably be a prize pool and pay to enter. Maybe a full set of every A&A game released or the title of head playtester for new games. Also, I imagine a tournament every 4 years would make sense, as it would give time for practice.

@shadowhawk I’m with you here. Low luck takes out all ability to have unplanned combat and surprise the enemy.

@shadowhawk I think it absolutely is a game of skill. Otherwise, it would be a game of luck, which it partially is due to the dice. But mostly, it takes strategy.

@SuperbattleshipYamato That’s just what I think. Also, my idea was stolen from the Nintendo world championship, the first esports event. Maybe I’m wrong and Hasbro\Renegade would devote resources. I was just looking at it by way of having been a Nerf fan. I watched the devolution of well built, quality products into clipped together, faulty hunks of plastic. I know that it’s not the way our franchise is immediately headed, but things can change quickly; like when Renegade got us a new game after years of reprints and poor management and zombies. Plus, the fan base is passionate. Perhaps we could bond together. After all, we do here! But we’d need to find players willing to contribute money and time to the cause.
