I agree with @Trig. It’s not a common situation and could have been easily overlooked in the rules. The FAQ likes to contradict me lately, but I also feel that it would be lost.

RE: Allies on French transport than turns Vichyposted in Global War 1936
For lack of specification in the rules (8.4 - Transporting allied units), we could consider three possible options:
1° The allied units are eliminated
2° The allied units turn Vichy
3° The allied units get a chance to disembark on a friendly adjacent territory.
All in all, it seems a very bad idea to transport allied units until the status of the French fleet has been resolved and there will be very little opportunity to do so, as France usually surrenders before it gets a chance to move anything as an allied power.

RE: Some HBG's pieces are sold outposted in Global War 1936
You have to check their site regularly. Some pieces restock.
You can aslo get them in a different color and paint then. The «wrong color» pieces are a very cheap way to build up your forces.

RE: The FAQ Threadposted in Global War 1936
A similar question was asked in a previous thread about attrition attacks and GHG answered that you cannot move the unit doing the attrition attack. No specific rule was quoted however.

RE: The FAQ Threadposted in Global War 1936
@trig said in The FAQ Thread:
a) Must the money for upgrades (specifically SS upgrades) be set aside at the start of the turn to save of use for upgrades?
I think yes due to 11.6.No, you must declare and pay for the upgrade in advance and if you cannot place the upgrade at the end of your turn, it remains on the production chart (Rule 11.2). You cannot save IPPs then randomly decide to spend them on upgrades at the end of your turn.
b) Do captured Major shipyards act as a minor shipyard?
I think yes, from the analogy of factories.Since Rule 12.4 only refers to captured factories, I would not extend it to other facilites “by analogy”.
c) If the CCP of KMT attack the other, does it negate the truce?
I think yes. Nonaggression is one of the provisions of the pact.Obviously, this ends the truce.
d) Can the CCP and KMT resign the truce after it has been broken?
No clue on this one.Not explicitely covered by Rule 13.3, so I may be wrong but this feels like a one-time deal. Like to Molotov-Ribbentrop pact or the Japanese-Soviet non-aggression pact. Nothing prevents the players from not attacking each other once more, but they would lose the advantage of defending together and moving in the same territories.
e) Can you take the militia from a recruitment roll and split them between two zones?
If no, can the CCP do it?
I think it is no, yes. See 11.5 and the CCP reference sheet.Rule 11.5 does say “place in a land zone” which suggests that it must be the same zone for both, while the CCP NRS does say “in any of those territories”, suggesting a possible split. Rule 13.3 for the SCW says “place in any land zone” and Rule 14.4.3 for Vichy says “can be placed in any Vichy possessed land zone”.
Despite the inconsistencies in the wording, I have a feeling that all recruitment rolls were meant to be subject to the same rules. Well spotted. Definitely one for the FAQ.

RE: Panzergrenadier placementposted in Global War 1936
I add that according to the FAQ, Panzergrenadiers are vehicle class :
Q: Are German SS Panzergrenadiers Infantry Class units?
A: No. (they are Vehicle class, like regular Mech. Infantry)Since, they definitely only become available after a tech improvement, Rule 7.8 applies.

RE: Interception, what about bombers ?posted in Global War 1936
All relevant rules refer to intercepting or scrambling Fighters (including Jet Fighters). The defender cannot send bombers to intercept.

RE: The FAQ Threadposted in Global War 1936
Geographically they are, but there is no written info that they connect, contrary to other land and sea zones. I don’t know what we should make of this.

RE: Do the Chinese lose their money when you take their capitols?posted in Global War 1936
@Chris_Henry raises a valid point that since CCP and KMT share the same Home Country, it would only be logical that they also share a capital in Nanking.
Another argument for Shensi not being a capital is that it is not a city like most capitals in the game (but there are exceptions like Northern Iran).
And I am still not convinced that the CCP roundel on the map is as bright as the one in Nanking, especially if you compare it to the HBG CCP roundels where the red is much brighter.
After all these posts, this would seem to be fairly straight forward questions for the FAQ :
Q. Is Shensi a capital for the CCP ?
A. Yes or NoQ. If Nanking is captured while occupied by the CCP, does the CCP lose its IPP to the bank ?
A. Yes or NoAnd I may add :
Q. If Nanking is captured by the CCP in the Chinese Civil War, does the KMT lose its IPP to the bank ?
A. Yes or No -
RE: Using Aircraft More Than Once in a Turnposted in Global War 1936
@insanehoshi If you look at the definition of Scramble (Rule 8.6), it applies to sending planes to an adjacent territory from an airbase.
Interception relates to the reduced value of air combat in raids/carpet bombing (see Table 9-9 and other Air units stats in Rule 12.2).
If the planes are already in the attacked territory, they are not scrambling per se but may still fight in the battle or intercept.
Same thing for scrambling planes that may intercept or take part in a normal battle in an adjacent zone, but not do all at once.
I don’t see how your answer supports that the planes could fight 2 or even 3 different battles at once.

RE: Do the Chinese lose their money when you take their capitols?posted in Global War 1936
According to rule 9.23, France gives its IPP to the conquering player (usually Germany) and all other powers lose their IPP to the bank.
As to where is the capital, it is in the territory with the brightest roundel when there are multiple territories (rule 1.3).
I did not find where it would say that CCP has no capital, but since it only has one territory (Shenshi) it is hard to determine if the roundel is bright or muted or if it is even relevant, since the bright/muted rule only applies to nations with more than one territory.
It does make me realize that in 20+ games where Nanking always fell, we never took the IPP away from the KMT… oops.

RE: Using Aircraft More Than Once in a Turnposted in Global War 1936
I don’t think that this is specified in the rules, but since all three attacks are essentially taking place simultaneously, you would have to decide where your fighter will go : either you intercept the Strategic bombing (rule 9.16 - table 9-9) or the Carpet bombing (rule 9.17) or take part in the land battle. Since interception is at a reduced value, it mostly makes sense to use it for the land battle.
You do get to wait until all combat movements have been announced before you declare (see Clarifying Ordering Effets on page 37).
The only difficulty is if your fighter scrambles and you lose Paris, where does it go? Is it lost or can in land somewhere else? There was a similar discussion in the FAQ Thread about a month ago regarding scrambling to an adjacent zone.
Maybe this could be avoided if fighters in an attacked land zone did not have the option to scramble and must take part in the land battle, eliminating the possibility that a scrambling fighter survives while its original territory is captured…

RE: Couple dumb questionsposted in Global War 1936
On carpet bombing, since in only lasts one round and the ground units do not fire back (rule 9.17), as the attacker you 100% want to do the carpet bombing first, since any defender that you eliminate by carpet bombing will not take part in the subsequent land combat with your other forces.

RE: How many times can a Lend-Lease Delivery be Interdicted?posted in Global War 1936
Rule 11.4 seems clear about Interdiction. The lend-lease is subject to « a convoy raiding die » (singular).
If the conditions are met, each Power rolls only one D6 (but repeat for each qualified seazone if needed) but there are no additional dice depending of the number of subs/MAP/warships presents in the sea zone for the purpose of this game mechanic.
I add than once there is a successeful interdiction in any seazone, it is useless to roll the for the other zones, as the lend-lease unit is eliminated - He’s dead, Jim.

RE: Danish straits and "warships" meaningposted in Global War 1936
Beating the proverbial dead horse here, but in the Glossary (Rule 0.9) :
Warship: Any surface ship that has an attack value (this would exclude naval transports and all types of aircraft carriers)
Surface ship: Any naval vessel that is not a submarine.
I agree with @Didier_de_Dax that « Surface Warship » is redundant since it’s already part of the Warship definition.
The distinction is useful for Aircraft Carriers, that are Surface Ships, but not Warships.
We could always suggest a correction to “Surface warships that go in the water (except for the bit that is above-water) but that you cannot land planes on” !

RE: The FAQ Threadposted in Global War 1936
@insanehoshi said in The FAQ Thread:
I would like to see an answer for this as well. The question would also apply to forts. For example, does an AAA on the Maginot Line get 3 shots at 6?
I never thought about it before, but Rule 1.23 c) on the Maginot Line does say that « Defending land units get +3 Defense on the first round of combat ».
Anti-Aircraft Artillery is a land units and participates in the first round of combat, as per Rule 12.2 : « An Attacking or Defending AA Artillery rolls one die for each opposing aircraft up to a maximum of three rolls on hits on a roll of “3” or less. […] AA Artillery fire on the first round of combat only. »
So pending correction in the Errata or FAQ, I would say it does get +3 Defense bonus.

RE: Paint Recommendations?posted in Global War 1936
I have recently found an fair match for painting Japanese units.
Tamiya Clear Orange X-26 was used here to paint the HBG Pumpkin orange truck. The result it a bit darker that the OOB A&A pieces (tank for comparison), but still good.

RE: The FAQ Threadposted in Global War 1936
@insanehoshi The new troops from Iraq are not able to make and « additional » sequence of combat moves, as they did not take part in the first combat moves because thew were not yet aligned to Germany at the start of the turn.
