Do you own your own buisness?

selling primary board games or something?

or is more of a hobby stop store? selling collectibles, models etc…

or is this something you do on your own spare time

    • RE: What do you build in R1? - poll with many options…

Yeah I use to always do the 2x2x2 combo.

i’m still liking the massive infantry build. and conserve all the armor with the R1 Belo, WR attack. then keep buying all infantry + 1-2 Rtl pieces to help contest Ukraine/Belo.

I do this quite effectively and don’t bother to much with the japs, just keep holding the line aginst them then when you think he has enough to break it, retreat a territory. after 5-6 rounds of all infantry + 1-2 Rtl. I go all out and buy 6-7 ARM in one round to team up with the ARM I conserved right off. then back to infantry + 1-2 Rtl or Infantry and 1 ARM

with all the contesting back and forth. West-Russia should be a powerhouse of 14-18 infantry  with 8-13 infantry around Novo and them places. then you can swing the tanks back and forth or just hold them in West-Russia and surrounding areas making both axis player think of where to mass since the tanks can reach each theatre.

What made holding the line possible vs Japan while sending most of my stuff vs Germany was… I sent the 2 fgt’s of the states from W-Can to Yakut on turn 2 of the game with an added Arm or two from the Russians makes a stalling effect against Japan very effective.

Either attack Belorussia and West-Russia while having the majority of yuor forces on West-Russia (probably your most important territory on the front - you can contest 3 territories with germany from there)

or you can attack West-Russia and Ukraine. (Ukraine is good to knock out as well as you can potentially knock out a fighter from the germans instead of them using it on Africa or your ships in the sea.)

Ukraine can go badly though. So hit it with caution.

    • RE: How many ships do purchase as Germany in a typical game?

      africa is not secureable.

its a matter of how long you think you can stay in or delay or a matter of how badly you want the americans or amercians/british to pay for it.

    • RE: Battleship question

      this is not possible.

Because at First you must specify your doing an amphibious assault. which means the transport has to move into the hostile Seazone.

before an amphibious assault can take place the hostile seazone must be cleared.

What im getting at here is if you want to conduct combats you have move your units in the combat phase and not “hold” back and wait till it cleared before you go in and do more combat.

      hope this helps.

    • RE: What is your first buy as UK (assuming baltic carrier)

Depending where his other fighters/bomber is and if he lost a fgt or two in some battles.

you can always buy 1 AC, 1 DD and converge the whole fleet in SZ 6, right beside his fleet. and place the 2 fgts from UK unto the AC.

You will have sometihng that looks like:

      1 Trn
      1 DD
      1 AC
      2 Fgt
      1 BB

      • 1 Russian sub when you NCM him there.

but it all depends on the situation. what I think Trihero is doing is still converge the UK/US fleet in SZ 8, while have fgts on UK or an AC to harass or destroy the baltic fleet when the chance is presentable, ussually by turn 3 or 4.

the longer you wait the worse.

    • RE: How many ships do purchase as Germany in a typical game?

      @Jennifer:

It didn’t slow anything down in the last game. Yea, UK got delayed one turn, but the US took Fin/Nor anyway and the entire northern German fleet was scuddled.

So the Germans are short 26 IPCs (16 for purchases) 10 for a fighter. It could even be 36 if it lost BOTH fighters on that carrier - a very likely scenario. UK is down 3 Trans or 24 IPC worth to continue to be of aid to Russia. So 24 IPC loss to UK vs 36 IPC loss to Germany.

I understand that it’s 59 IPCs in units lost to England (2 Fig, 1 Bmb, 3 Trn) and 72 IPCs lost to Germany (1 CV, 2 FIG, 2 SS, 1 TRN, 1 DD) but realistically speaking, Germany doesn’t need the TRN, SS’s or DD and the CV isn’t needed either, but cost them 16 to produce. Meanwhile, England doesn’t need the two fighters and bomber to annoy Germany and defend Russia. They help in both cases, but they arn’t needed to win victory in either case.

      Hey Jen,

The Delay by 1 turn is Huge… Gives me plenty of time to build-up Defenses
You played right into my hand the way I look at it.  I only bought 1 AC yes But with a 16 IPC purchase this is what was accomplished…

Also your losses were more significant.
      3 Trn = [24] (you bought 1 of these)
1 AC = [16] (which you also had to buy) cancels my AC BUy.
      2 Fgt = [20]
      1 BB = [24]
      1 bmb = [15]

      Add it up = 99 IPC loss…

it also took you 2 full turns to get an already empty Norway (which I can take back at perhaps the loss of 1 inf.)

you perhaps are missing the knockdown effect. slowdown vs europe is also bad as it gives more time for Japan which is free-rolling cause of no opposition because of all the activity in the atlantic.

Keep in mind I do have more defense power then you have attacking power Jen :)

one bad roll for you in round 1, doubled up with a good defense roll. and thats a ouch.

    • RE: Can the US have naval superiority?

if you were to land the fighter in the mainland. I would have to think China would be the best spot as I find Japan can have a bad round of dice and barely win or lose that battle.

your saying a CV + DD will die without taken a hit? ( I love the idea of forcing the Japaneese to send in stuff to kill that. you got to think it takes 1 BB + some fighters or a fighter/bomb combo to kill it.

reason is, a CV and DD both defend on a 3… (that BB is only taking 1 hit…) that means a plane is dying. So on the contrary to what you said. I think the CV + DD has a good chance of taking a fighter out.

    • RE: Japan landing in western US –--- how can i do this?

Yeah those 3 you left undefended definetly hurt you.

It pushed all of your IC’s back 1 turn to build I think. But I was never worried about them. I always had tanks on Eus
im at the point that I believe I will now be making a lot of purchases at Wus so i’m not worried about the pesting of Japan, especially not the taking of Hawaii with Germany, only worth 1 Ipc.

the way our game is going. I rather it be in german hands then Japan hands.
I got some plans for germany in a bit.  The way I see it, if I take Germany and Russia falls anyway. I still think Japan looses.

They will then have to deal with the Europe front, africa front, and Pacific front as with the states I will definetly be building a fleet. and with 12 Transports I can spare some fodder.

I’ll put it this way, if Germany doesn’t fall in the next 3-4 turns then the axis wins. (you should have enough japan troops by then to take russia out.)

I think the AA still drops with the Inf as you stated its just his attacking power is 0 (worthless) same deal as an attacking transport.

      Hey Darth,

I kind of did an exception to your below standard Shuch-shuck. ( so for our game for the futur you start to plan on hitting the states from the pacific :P)

I kind of went crazy with the transports, I have like 12 after 4 turns.  :-D

    • RE: Can the US have naval superiority?

      @squirecam:

UK does have a fleet. 1 CV, 1 DD 1 sub 2 transports. Together, thats 10 def. Not enough on its own, but when added to the USA, it makes it difficult for Japan.

Probably YOU never have a UK fleet because you waste it attacking that japan transport rather than save it.

      Squirecam

      Hey Squirecam,

if you are never going to use your UK fleet to kill the transport or contest africa. (then i want to play as the axis everytime vs you)

it isn’t wise to let the Japaneese Transport live at any costs. (I send the 1 DD, 1 AC after it) and 3 inf, 1 Fgt to Egypt to contest it with the germans.

your UK fleet is doing you no good sitting around in the pacific doing nothing. even if you manage to grab a island lets say New Borneo. you wasted everything the UK had in the pacific to take a island for 1 turn that is not worth 4 ipc.

you’d be surprised how fast land-based and Air-craft based figs can go from the main-land to the pacific and back and forth.

    • RE: What nation do you like the least

I hate playing the UK the most

reason being, if the game is played the correct way (they will have the lowest income for a while) and bascially as far as military wise they do nothing but shuttle there max 8 troops a turn to norway, kar or archangel.  then eventually they can do some drops into europe. or setup a 1-2 punch on a strong german territory so the states can retrieve it.

other words no action. lol or the lack of action.

    • RE: How could Germany have won the war?

just little things that the axis didn’t do ended up being bigger problems as the war went on…

from what I understand, Japan actually had some of the best submarines around that time… where they using them effectively to sink supply ships etc?? not really…
Like Swtich pointed out earlier… Japan while it had the initiative after the pear Harbour attack could of did a lot more damage to the ship-building yards, some oil supply etc… (which would of bought them the time to finish the air-fields at full strenght on there bottom laying islands etc…) Japan knew well they would have to be on the defensive pretty much after they hit the united states. and that was there plan actually just to make a defensive perimeter that included Midway island…

If Japan could of produced many more subs and used them effectively… it would have had a more huge effect…that means the states would have to transfer ships from there atlantic fleets that were busy as it was with the german u-boats… (especially in 1942 when U-boats were being replaced faster then they were being destroyed and they were enjoying huge success at this time in the atlantic.

also i’m under the understanding… most of the factories for the allies were being run by the ladies… the axis never caught on to this effect to closer to the end of the war…( I’m just saying they didn’t capitalize on there production when they could of, definetly hurt as the war progressed.)

The Germans should of used the prisoners more effectively instead of killing them all. Also the attack on Russia wasn’t totally there doom, the “DOOM” of the germans was they wern’t treating anybody nicely…
for instance when they invaded russia early on…Ukraine and them western states of russia were at first actually “Happy” they were being liberated from the Russians/Stalin. my point is if the germans had treated them nicely here and went along with the yes we are liberating you from the evil stalin propaganda. they would of helped the germans by lots of means also joining there armies and huge ranks. but this was not the case. the SS came in right away and started exterminating tons of people right away…

this is my short take on it. long post i know.
