      @JDOW:

      @Nippon-koku:

      I like the idea of Germany taking S. France to assist Italy.

      My advice is: Keep in mind what the REAL job of the Germans is: Kicking Russian butts.

      Many players lose their axis games because they neglect that nr1 central goal Axis have in G40 and do to assist Italy or do other stuff instead:)

      And that exact reasoning almost cost me the game.  Were it not for a sneaky Germany/Italy move the Axis would’ve lost that game easily.

      It seems the best you can do with Italy is just try to build up a large ground force to stall any landing invasion from UK or US.

      I like the idea of Germany taking S. France to assist Italy.  I tried this in a recent game and had better than normal results.

      The trend I’ve seen when playing as Germany and Italy is that, unless you Sealion and barring any crazy rolls, the Allies always gain strong control of the Mediterranean and Africa.

      If the UK goes Taranto and America is positioned at Gibraltar by turn 3 I fail to see how Italy can maintain a strong enough presence to control the Med short of Germany investing heavy resources there at the expense of moving on Russia.  Not saying it’s not doable; I simply don’t see how it happens.

      Some have mentioned that you should aim to take Cairo early.  While I think that’s a great idea I cannot see it working against a UK player who puts any kind of time and effort into that campaign.

    • RE: Blitzing Question

      Great answer.  Thank you

      It was helpful in a game that has somehow lasted to round 15

    • Blitzing Question

      Can you take a hostile territory and then, in the non combat phase, blitz through that territory?

      So as an example:

      Japan has five tanks in Korea and Russia has one inf in Amur.  Japan also controls Buryatia.  Can Japan send 4 tanks to Amur, take it over, then move the one remaining tank into Buryatia via Amur during its non-combat phase?

      Thanks in advance!

    • RE: Hall of Shame - tales of the worst dice ever

      Had a game this past weekend and was bailed out by some bad rolls for our opposition.

      The UK foolishly left four fighters and a bomber in Caucasus, missing that it was connected to Kazakhstan.  Amateur mistake, but what can we do?  Japan rolls in with 2 inf, 2 art, 3 tanks a tac bomber and a str bomber.  They get only 1 hit; UK in response gets five hits!  Japan presses on but hits nothing in return, UK hits all four remaining fighters to win the battle with only a loss of 1 bomber.

      On the same turn Japan sends two bombers to Moscow for a complex raid only to have my partner roll a snake eyes on him!

      One of the best 1-2 defensive (lucky) punches I’ve ever seen

    • RE: What to do if russia defend Yunnan

      What about this plan:

      Turn 2 Russia declares war on Japan, rolls 3 planes and its two tanks and two mechs into Sikang.  China takes back Yunan with all its force and then India moves all it’s units into Yunan as well, declaring war on Japan (assuming the Japanese didn’t already do so).  Then Russia moves its units into Yunan on turn 3 and suddenly there is quite a force in Yunan for Japan to try and take out.

      I’m yet to see this fully play out but I think it’s a pretty interesting move.  Thoughts?

    • Tri State Area WWI

      Hello all!  I’ve been playing all WWII versions of A&A for a long time (with a Japan preference as you can tell) but have recently gotten into WWI.

      My buddy and I have played each other quite a few times and are looking for some opponents.  I live in CT and he’s in NJ; we’re willing to play anywhere in the tri-state area and can host games in either state.

      Any takers?

      @jim010:

      You need to post this in the find players section.

      My bad.  Still new to the board  :?

      I’ll post this over there

      Thanks
