    • G40 2nd Halifax, Global, Europe and Pacific game aids

      Hi all,

It has been a while, busy w/ moving, having kids, work. But since a friend of mine was very anxious to play a big wargame, I decided to finish my Axis & Allies G40 set to get it out for a perfect gaming experience. Please do note that I was first and foremost inspired by the customizations of @Young-Grasshopper and @siredblood blood. We play G40 based on the Halifax ruleset option 2 (one UK and ANZAC combined w/ SA & CA) and the Victory Objectives of YG in stead of the G40 Victory Condition.

Since there was no card-set available to have this combination of rules and for the experience of creating something graphical, I made my own. The set consists of Halifax, Global, Europe and Pacific cards marks in some corner w/ their first letter. The first set was from 2015, but now I finished them with a new design loosely based on the rulebooks w/ the beige and see-though pictures in the background. Here’s some examples:
      AAG40 Power-E Russia NO1-H.pdf
      AAG40 Power-E-P UK-H NO1.pdf
      AAG40 Power-E Italy NO1.pdf
      AAG40 Power-E Germany NO1-E-G-H.pdf
      AAG40 Power-E France NO1-E-G-H.pdf
      AAG40 Generic Order of Play - Halifax.pdf
      AAG40 Generic Neutrals.pdf AAG40 Back.pdf
      AAG40 RD5.pdf
      AAG40 Power-P China Namecard.pdf
      AAG40 Power-P China Background.pdf
      AAG40 Power-H CW NO2-H.pdf
      AAG40 Back.pdf
      AAG40 Victory Axis VO3-G-H.pdf
      AAG40 Victory Axis VC-P.pdf
      AAG40 Victory Allies VO5-G-H.pdf

I also made a custom map based on the bare map from YG to replace the UK w/ Commonwealth roundels and some game aids:

      • Battleboard: Battleboard R&D v6 - blue.pdf & Battleboard v7 - blue.pdf
      • Reasearch and Development board: Too big to upload
      • Break-out boards: also too big to upload

Furthermore I upgraded and expanded my components w/ stuff from HBG, IWNGU and spielematerial.de. And a very nice First Aid Box from the Swedish Army to store this and AA14:
      IMG_20200428_132457.jpg

Well, hopes this gives you some inspiration to go nuts on upgrades :-). Please let me know what you think, if you want to know something about these upgrades of if you want to have the files for the cards (you can have the editable files or printable files w/ bleeds and cutting lines, as well).

      Keep on warring…chrz

    • RE: Grasshopper's G40 Victory Objectives

      Big thanks for Young Grasshopper,

Played this last weekend in combination with the Halifax rules (option 2, the greater Commonwealth). Fantastic. We have added a ton of luxury materials (NO-cards, scoreboards, country sheets, , IPCs, tokens, etc) to help speed things up and are looking for a year now how to create a one day game w/o losing the characteristics.

This completely answered our questions! Congratulations on a job well done.

      Hi frank,

Very nice job, if you’re making a quality map for Guadalcanal, I’be quite interested in the result.

btw for some versions there are already very nice digital maps available. be sure before you begin a project you have a good look around on the forum to see there is not already an alternative available.

That said, keep up the good work!

    • G40/42 - R&D Set

      Hi All,

If someone is interested, here 's our R&D set: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/owrasqpeass6a/R%26D.

These are materials for the Standard Global 1940/42 2nd edition rules and also for our simple houserule.

To speed things up we sometimes play a houserule. There the d12 board is used for along with a 12 sided die. Rule: at the beginning of every scond round (once a year) the player will roll a 12 sided dice for R&D w/o any payment. The player will gain the corresponding number in the R&D table as an ability at the end of that round. This is to give the player already the advantage during the buy phase, but not in the current attack (which he can prepare). Rolling a R&D number that you have already obtained is just though luck.

Let me know what you think, enjoy!

      grtz

    • RE: A&A Global 1940 2nd edition - Game Aids

Thanks, sources have been added, enjoy!

Please note that the National Objective cards are made in Libre/OpenOiffce. They should open in MS Word as well. Please note that there is a folder with all the fonts used (also for the other meterials!!).

The battleboards and the R&D board made in InkScape and saved in Inkscape svg format. So opening the svg’s with any image viewer will result in a different picture than the pdf versions.

The battleboard has a system: the dice are 4 different colors representing the necessary hit-numbers. Reason is that you can throw the whole attack or defensse in one roll. Replacing the colors of the dice on the board with your own dice colors may increase the wow-factor of your game.

There are two versions of the R&D boards one with yellow texts and one with a blueish color.

    • A&A Global 1940 2nd edition - Game Aids

      Hi All,

It took awhile but I have finished some Game Aids, we use in our games. It concerns NO-cards, battleboard with and without R&D and country cheat sheets with troop info and national objectives. Keep in mind that document formats are based on european standards, so A-something.

      The link: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/mhkadktx9db3i/Axis_%26_Allies

Feel free to download, use and alter to your own needs. Or please provide me with feedback when you detect errors

At this moment only the pdfs are on the folder but the sources will follow. I just have to sort reorganise all the files.

The only thing remaining is the R&D cards, but they will follow in a few weeks.

P.S. Can someone make this thread sticky? Thanks.

    • RE: Is there something like an enlarged supreme map for revised?

That was what I was unsuccesfully looking for as well, now I use the supreme 42 map from Imperious leader. The only thing different is the shape of some territories, but borders and IPCś are all the same and it looks great as well, esp. with the lighter sea.

To answer my own question, I am using the supreme map of IL now, IPC values are the same and so are the borders, although not necessarily always the shape of the country, but that is irrelevant.

      Dear freemind,

DO you have a larger pincture, or even better a vector image of the map of AAR? I just got a copy and want to create a big map. Thanks.

    • RE: Global 1942 Scenario by Larry Harris

      Hi,

How does the scenario handle the “originally controlled territories”. Are they the territories from G40 or the status quo at the start of G42? Thanks for the clarification.

    • RE: IL's New Global 1940 map file…

There actually is. I have altered ILs great map for my own use and changed the vichy sign to french roundels, since we do not play the vichy. Also, the UK troops in pacific have a union jack roundel, since we would play with 7 people sometimes. Furthermore If have used one roundel per country, since there seemed a minor difference between the pacific roundels and the ones from europe.

If IL doesn’t mind, I’ll  be glad to give you a link.

    • RE: G40 National Objective card deck accessory

      Hi Stormtrooper,

Thanks for the compliment, glad you liked them.

They are supposed to be printed on A6 (quarter of A4), although they are designed on A5. But that was for convenience during the process of creating them.

There are some minor errors though, which I will be correcting:

      • The German title Oberfellherr is non-existent and will be changed to Feldmarschall or Generalfeldmarschall, depends on the length of the line.
      • The 6 IPC text of the Chinese NO has the same color as 5 IPC text on other cards.
      • Some pictures are strechted to the edges of the paper and have to be aligned to the maximum margins and the white border has to be cut off.

BTW use them anyway you like, the original files are included as well (www#mediafire#com/download/zcjf495wirizjrb/A&A_NO_odt.tar.gz and again replace # with .)

    • RE: G40 National Objective card deck accessory

      Hi,

We use these. I made them after I saw one of your videos and couldn’t find any NO-cards for the second edition for download. www#mediafire#com/download/7dtxrwxnbe0n2pe/A&A_NO_pdf.tar.gz

We also use War Cards to show whos in war with who: www#mediafire#com/download/oeby87i8esm122e/A&A_G40_War_Cards_-_pdf.tar.gz (replace the #s with dots (.))

Also since we haven’t played the game much, I wanted to create a “briefing file” for every country, with a overview/list of the National objectives which is a bit more visual than the lists in the manual.

I have uploaded so called war cards as well. Very simple but they can be used to keep track of who is at war with who.

To be found at www#mediafire#com/download/oeby87i8esm122e/A&A_G40_War_Cards_-_pdf.tar.gz, where the # needs to be replaced by a . [dot]

And of course the odt’s: www#mediafire#com/download/hy940rd23pi23v0/A&A_G40_War_cards_-_odt.tar.gz

    • RE: Do you have a Grasshopper & Ambilzi custom map?

Thanks, will upload some pics with all the goodies, once set-up.

We do not have black chips at the moment, we have a lot of greys the rest approx. 50 per color, which we will use as one. We will use the green as 5 (like the 5 euro note), the red as 10 (like the 10 euro note) and blue as 20 (like the 20 euro note). We do not have a real philosophy for it, just chose this as logical for damage we wil use the same “code”. If only we had IPC that have this color scheme.

      Hi,

I have printed the map on A3, to use in a strategic prep talk. And I will print the map this week, since coming saturday we will play. Will be great.

BTW Do you have any advice on what I am missing:

      • A&A Europe 2nd Edition and Pacific 2nd Edition
      • HGB IPCs
      • infantry in Light Red, Light Gray and White to represent Pro-Axis, Pro-Allies and Strict neutrals.
      • 100 red dice
      • 100 black dice
      • Dicecups and large dice tray
      • Two type of factories representing major and minor ICs
      • Yellow Green army set to provide China with artillery and fighter in stead of using US troops.
      • Set for each county with copy of the rulebooks, cheat sheet
      • Created cards for NOs
      • Will create battleboard
      • Will create “At War with…” cards

For the editable ones replace pdf by odt

Will also be making a nice big battleboard.
