    • Sept 29th in whitestone NY.Global 40 1 day tournament and open play

      Hi
Anyone interested can reply here or message me. We are having a 1 day Global 40 tournament by teams. The plan is for a team anywhere from 2 to 5 guys plays 2 games simultaneously and at the end we count total points scored. There is a set bid of 33 for allies. It is based on scoring points not victory on one side. However you do get extra points if you win on a side. We also have open gaming usually the Anniversary or Revised second edition. This is for fun. I seem to have lost some contact numbers so if previous players read this please reply.
So far we have about 14 to 15 people coming as we had 4 recent cancels. So we have space as not all do the tournament.
We play at a Church in Whitestone Queens, NY. Doors open about 940, we hope to start play before 1030am and play until we finish. We are planning to keep the global games moving and play 9 rounds by 7pm or so. We order lunch in. We serve soda, snacks and ask for 10 dollars for the church. We have a guy who sells games

    • RE: 2018 Axis & Allies Events

      Hi Gregory
I am trying to make your tournament at Origins this year. I have a couple of questions on it.
-In the 1942 2nd edition game with the modified set up and also for the Anniversary game without national objectives do you have an average bid rang and who gets the bid based on previous tournaments?
-If I come with my son I assume we can be a team if I come with both sons (so there is 3 of us) can one of us play in the 2nd edition game and 1 in the Anniversary game and 1 of us be an assistant in both as needed?
-What time  does the event start on Fri. and when you say single elimination that means your done if you loose the first game.?
-Is there a better place to reach you?

Any general tips for your tournament I have played many Axis and Allies games and run a big group in Long Island mostly Global 40 classic, and revised but I am familiar with both of these.
                                                                Thanks  Joe

      Hi Wayne
I would be glad to give you a call or text. ? Is there a better time or times to do this. We meet several times a year at least 4. In Nov. we made it a tournament with teams but this is more relaxed. I honestly feel we have great guys and a great balance between beginners, moderate experience and some of the best players of Axis and Allies in the world.
Let me know if you want a call or text and what times are good.

      Hi Surprise Attack
Woops I am not sure why I thought everyone would know that. Almost did not post is as it has been awhile since someone asked from here but we did get a couple of guys from this site.
We are at Grace Episcopal Church it is 14-15 Clintonville Whitestone NY 11357.
It is in Queens NY near the Whitestone or Throgs neck bridge. We have guys from NJ, CT. NYC, Long Island and Rockland county. Sometimes from PA. We have about 16 so far for this one but we usually have about a little over 20 with a high number of 26.  We had a 1 day Global tournament at my friends convention in Nov. It was fun but a lot of work.
We have players who have played 5 to 10 games and some guys who have played well over 60. Any more questions? Hope to see you one day. Global 40 is our main game but sometimes we play others. Bid for Allies although we did the tournament a bit different.

      HI
I know Joe and have played Axis and Allies with him several times. He is a very knowledgeable person on all the AA games and their history pretty much combining the points of view of an Axis and Allies Historian, Player and war game designer so I am sure his comments are good. They were helpful feedback as I am considering getting this game and now will almost definitely do so. Joe thanks and hope to see you Sat. at the Battle for Long Island.

We are putting together a 1 day Axis and Allies Day/convention in Whitestone NY.  This is actually are 4th time and we plan on doing this 3 times a year so it can be a tournament format in that sense. It is all about playing and having fun. We have had between 14 and 26 people. While all versions of the game are great we have mostly been playing Global 40 with a bid for the allies. We have an undefeated team in Global 40 with players who have won and finished 2nd at the WBC but new players are very welcome. Its really about playing and having fun. Last time we had someone sell old games and raffle them off also. We have a church with plenty of parking, a fridge, and serve light snacks. We charge 10 dollars just so the Church gets something. We start at 10 am and end about 10pm but no one kicks us out. You can come a bit early to if you like.

      Hi All
This is our 3rd battle of Long Island and 4th event at the church. We have had between 15 and 26 people. It is in Whitestone Queens NY from 10am till 10pm or so. Lately most are playing Global 40 2nd edition with bid for allies. We have an undefeated team that also has the 1st, 2nd 3rd place finishers from the WBC. We welcome less experienced players. We are starting to do match ups and records if you like. Mostly have Fun and Play hard with other great Axis and Allies People. In the past we played the Anniversary Game, 1914, Spring 42 and the Revised edition lately mostly global 40. Bring a team, join a Team or if your a veteran and play fast you can run an entire board. We have a Fridge, light snacks served, plenty of parking, we ask for 10.00 for the church. Last time we had a guy sell old games, flea market is welcome but it is about playing. If you are on a team you can play in 2 games at once. Save Sat. 23rd for this…!!!

    • 2nd Battle of Long Island 4/29 brief game reports.

      Hi
The 2nd battle of Long Island took place on 4/29 and went from 930AM until about 9pm. In total 6 games of Global 40 were played although one was started late in the day and was called as a dicer. In total there were 3 Axis win and 3 allies wins. Bids ranged from 12 to 23 for the allies.
The game of the day was a 8.5 hour battle that could have went longer. The bid was 23 (2 British destroyers on each side of med and a transport by SA). The Pacific was more or less stalemated with big fleets facing off. This game was close but Germany made a big push and took Moscow with 17 tanks surviving. The British were still strong in Persia and Egypt and the WA had a small Beachhead in West Germany but the Allied player was gracious and felt the Axis had the upper hand.
Another game matched a very experienced team against a team that over rated their own experience and who wanted the game even when this was explained to them. The experienced team took the allies with 12 as a courtesy and the game was a rout. Germany lost 9 airplanes turn 1, and Japan attacked turn 1 did not hit Yunnan and was defeated in the Philippines. By turn 5 Russia had taken Romania, Hungary, and Poland, China was strong and sitting on the Burma road.
Although I did not catch all the games there was a late day rematch between 2 teams that had played in Jan. The team playing the Axis got their revenge when they pulled off a Sea Lion and had some good dice.
One of the nice touches for our day was when a Father bought his 8 year old son who had been watching u Tube videos of the game and had the basic 1941 game. He played for awhile as Italy and understood quite a bit.
We had old games and painted pieces for sale and it was a big success. Hopefully we will do it again soon. We have done this 3 times and also played up in CT. We welcome new players and will try to do better at matching up newer players. We do have a team that is 8-0 in these type of contest and also finished 1st, 2nd third at the WBC 2 years ago and we had a couple of great games going. Please join us.
                Thanks to all who came.

    • 2nd Battle of Long Island Global 40 tournament and other versions. April 29

      HI
We have a 1 day Global 40 Tournament at Grace Episcopal Church in Whitestone NY on April 29th. We had the firstin Jan and 26 people attended. We will do this 3 or 4 times a year and keep records for those interested. You can play any version and I know some people are playing the 1914 game and perhaps the 2nd edition and Anniversary game. However mostly it is a Global 40 slugfest with teams bidding for the allies and 2nd edition rules. An experienced team can play 2 games at once. Smaller versions such as Guadalcanal are also popular. We have players from experts to beginners.( we do have tournament champions and 1,2,3 place finishers in the WBC). We can find you a team or bring a teammate. We are expecting 25 to 30 people this time and of course more are welcome. We serve light refreshments soda, coffee, doughnuts, bread, cheese etc. ask 10.00 for the church. However if you are traveling very far we will ask for 5.00. Those wanting to sell or raffle items can. Plenty of parking near church and some in back of Church. Contact me with questions and if you have a specific request, We appreciate if you can get there 915 or 930 to set up and we start about 10-1015. We have the Church until 11. 14-15 Clintonville Street Whitestone NY. Let me know if interested.

YES… We are going to have 1 in April. Maybe the third week. I need to clear it with the Church… . In the summer we have no Air conditioning so it will be mid April to early May time frame. If you like bring a friend and play as a team but we had no trouble putting people into games. You can also write me directly through this site. I am not sure how this works but 1 guy who came to the last even did so. What version do you like and what is your game experience. As I said we had very new players and very experienced ones.

      HI All
The Battle of Long Island Axis and Allies convention was held in Whitestone on Jan. 28th 2017. We had 26 people participate from NY, CT, and PA. In total we had 5 full Global Campaign games completed, 1 Anniversary game and 2 games of 2nd edition. Everyone who attended is interested in doing it again and we will add a Flea market and raffle next time. There were many very experienced Axis and Allies players and tournament winners present as well as novice players. Light snacks including soda, chips, doughnuts, cheese and fresh bread lasted pretty much all day. We ordered Pizza but others got food on their own. Cost was minimal with a  5 or 10 dollar entry depending on travel to support the Church. We may do it again late April early May for those interested let me know. We can turn this into a point system but it was fun to see all these hard core Axis and Allies guys in one spot.
Take Care and Thank all those that came…or wanted to come

    • Axis and Allies COnvention and Tournament for Global 40

      Hi All
We are running an Axis and Allies 1 day convention from 9am to 11pm. All versions are welcome but the main game will be Global 40 2nd edition bid for allies. People will play in teams and a team of 2 to 4 can play 2 games simultaneously. We will keep records and play about 3 times a year. Call it the Battle for Long Island. It is at:
      Grace Episcopal Church
      14-15 Clintonville St.
      Whitestone NY 11357
We are expecting about 25 to 30 guys. Beginners to very experienced. We have the 1, 2 3 player from the WBC 2 years ago.
Hope to see you any questions. Last year the Anniversary game and WW 1 were also played but Global 40 is the big one

    • RE: Global 2nd edition Q+A ( AAG40.2)

HI All. I am new to the forum and I have some general questions and hope you guys can help. I am a very experienced Axis and Allies player having played on line for years with the old Hasbro version, 3 years at the WBC,  with my sons and a local group. Recently a friend of mine downloaded triple A for me but I have no idea how to play it on line. I am a bit intimated by computer stuff I visited War club buy could not figure it out. My Questions are:

-How can I play Global 40 on line or through e mails. Be as specific as possible I am slow at this stuff.

-We had a Big Axis and Allies game day last May and had 19 attendees, this year we met a great group from CT and have invited them. We are doing it again Jan. 28th in Whitestone Queens. Call it the Battle of NY for now. You can play any version but we are going to have a Tournament for Global 1940 2nd edition. The basic format is you play on a team and your team plays 2 games simultaneously. One as the Axis and one as the Allies. If you come alone we would find you a team. How would I advertise that on this site or anywhere else. We are thinking your team plays 1 game as Axis and 1 game as Allies. Allies get  aground bid of 15 1 unit in a country. You get points for a win and victory territories. Can I post that on this forum. Has anyone done this how did that work?

-Last question today I have read some posts on bids. What do you guys think is reasonable? This is related to the tournament I mentioned above. My experience is with less experienced players who do not go for Russia strong you may not need a bid but more experienced players might need a bid in the low 20’s for the allies particularly if you limit that bid to 1 ground unit in a territory you have men in already.
                                  Any feedback is great.
                                    Thanks
