    • RE: What is low luck dice

      @Yamamoto_motto

      I’ll just pop in here real fast. Low luck dice works like so: Add up the to-hit number of all the units in each attack column separately and divide by 6. So say you are attacking with 6 infantry 3 tanks and 3 fighters.

      So the infantry attack on a 1. You have 6 so 1x6=6 Now divide this number by 6(the number if sides on the dice) and you get 1. So that is one guaranteed hit. Next add up the tanks and the fighters since they all attack on 3 you group them up. 3x6=18 18/6=3 So 3 guaranteed hits. I just grabbed these number out of the air so lets say you are defending with 8 infantry and 2 fighters. Infantry defend on 2 fighters defend on 4. so 2x8=16 16 divided by 6 = 2 guaranteed hits with a remainder of 4. Since you can’t divide 3 hits into it fully. That 4 remainder now acts as a normal dice roll. You have to roll a 4 or less for a hit. The 2 fighters now 2x4=8 So that’s 8/6 =1 with a remainder of 2. So 1 guarantee hit and now you must roll a dice with a to-hit on a 2 or less.

      Hope this helps.

    • RE: [House Rules] Should allies receive a bid?

      So I have played two games with the “taamvan mode” and I think that it does quite good job at balancing out the game. It slightly slows down Germany while giving the Soviet Union something it never had before. OPTIONS!
      That extra tank and fighter can be in Manchuria by turn 3 which means that not only does this effect Germany but also Japan. Hitting Manchuria/Korea with 18 infantry a tank and fighter means that Japan has to spend more money on transports or turn around some land units or simple keep a larger force than usual in Manchuria.

      I think it is a small change that makes a big difference and I encourage everyone to give it a try.

      @taamvan

      So you don’t use any of the other NO’s from the balance mod or the SBR rule change or any other rule change for that matter in regards to the balance mod? Tank/fighter in Soviet Union and the NO for taking the caucasus, leningrad, stalingrad and moscow go from 5 to 3.
      If this is true and really balances the game then a mod should be put forward on AAA I feel. Small changes like these drastically fixed 1942.2 with LH’s tournament rules.

      If would be nice to have some more feedback and testing done on this.

      @barnee
      If it is easy to do why not. I would appreciate it and I’m pretty sure everyone else would too. It would be nice to have a balanced game instead of just a “different” game. It would be quite interesting of Taamvan’s simple changes could easily balance out the game and remove the need to bid at all.

      Alright starting up the next game. Doing Cruiser at 12 IPC 4A 4D when paired with BB and can transport 1 infantry starting round 2. I’ll let you guys know how it goes.

      I’ve played 14 tabletop games. About 6 against the computer in AAA and 2 against myself. I need to play an AAA game at some point with someone…

      @655321

      Right. You have guaranteed hits. So you can mathematically calculate how many units you need to bring to maximize your hits. Playing with low luck can drastically change battles that you are used to winning or losing in the past. It is more fair though.

      That’s like the best mech infantry in the game right there.

      @regularkid

      No offense I’m just going off of what that other person said. But I’m sure you have more data as to where the balance is. If the game really requires a bid, how much, and is there a definitive tilt in either the axis favor or allied favor.

    • RE: G40 Balance Mod - Feedback Thread

      So me and my friend and playing with the new rules. We are about to do turn 2 with china. On the first round I built 3 arty and stacked everyone in szechwan. We will see what happens.

      The rules we decided on are as follows:
      Each territory that contains the burma road is worth a NO of 1 IPC.
      As long as either India OR Burma are allied controlled then China can build artillery units even if szechwan and yunnan are axis controlled.
      If the Burma Road is completely axis controlled(All four territories) then chinese guerrillas will spawn in japanese territories with no land units present.

      Any other questions, comments, or concerns just let me know.

      UPDATE

      Well I actually have fun with china for the first time. China get’s the upfront cost of an extra infantry or artillery instead of causing Japan to slow down by leaving a unit in each territory. I’m definitely enjoying these chinese rules over OOB or even BM. China actually has some choices now from being aggresive or defensive.

      If you guys want to mod it into a AAA game that would be helpful. Although this thread seems to have died again. First game was a big success.

    • RE: [House Rules] The 20 IPC Question....

      What about keeping the cruiser at 12 IPC’s but gets boosted up to a 4 Attack 4 Defense when paired with a Battleship?

      Or maybe just 11 IPC’s for the cruiser. This seems like it would not harm the initial set up since many BB’s are already paired with CA’s. Two cruisers for 22 IPC’s vs 24 seems like a decent change but not too drastic.

    • RE: [House Rules] The 20 IPC Question....

      I’m doing the 11 IPC Cruiser. I know that pairing it with a battleship will change the med fight quite a bit and dramatically change the battles around London. So I’ll see if i get more play with this.

      I’ll do pairing with the BB next game which will help the UK out quite a bit weakening the luftwaffe(good thing) and slightly help the Italians in the med. So early game might balance out. I think that the pairing with BB might be the best solution to be honest.

    • RE: [House Rules] The Cruiser

      I agree that in OOB there are not enough island chains. However in the BM3 version are are some very important 3 ipc bonus island chains that you can claim. Some even 5 if you own all 3 islands. So having the cruiser able to carry 1 infantry would make the pacific into a more interesting and active combat zone.

      I think I’m going to try this on my next game actually. I am currently running 11 IPC cruisers. Still not buying them. Just no incentive.

    • RE: [House Rules] The Cruiser

      Well the other option that was rattling around in my head was slightly adjusting costs for not only the cruiser but the BB. The cruiser would drop to 10 IPC’s and the BB would drop to 18 IPC’s. Every other attribute would stay the same. The destroyer is the infantry of the sea so the cruiser would be the fighter of the sea. Except fighters would still defend on 4s and can be used anywhere. And 1 cruiser and 1 destroyer would still be equal in price to a BB. The BB and cruiser would get a little more play due to cost reduction but would still not remove the value of the carrier and fighters.

      And SS GEN I’m coming up with these ideas because I’m already playtesting the 11 IPC cruiser. And since it takes a while to play one game I want to start with the best suggestion.

      I like 10 cruiser 18 BB.
      Also cruiser normal price and can carry 1 infantry.
      Last would be the destroyer at 1 A 2 D and 2 can pair up with a cruiser. Maybe drop destroyer price to 7 and cruiser to 11.

      But the first two are simple. Usually keeping things simple is the best solution to a problem.

      After much consideration I think these three are probably the most realistic and easiest fixes. So the question is which one do you guys like best? I’m going to play test whichever one you guys think would best balance out the cruiser in my next game.

      And thanks again for all your time and deliberation guys!

    • RE: [House Rules] The Cruiser

      @taamvan

      I’m not changing a bunch of at once I’m coming up with as many ideas that I like at once and testing them one at a time. I just want to do the best ones first. For example my next game I’m going to test the 12 IPC cruiser with the ability to carry 1 infantry but that ability won’t take effect until the second round of the game. This way it won’t change the initial set up drastically but can still play a pivotal roll in the game.

      I also love how the BM mod makes minor island strands an important national objective to claim and fight over. However I find the vichy france rules to be unnecessary as it hurts the allies and the axis at the same time for no real reason and kills all point of having france in the game.

      Anyway I just like to have as many options on the table for me to ponder over.

      @Argothair

      I’m playtesting it at least. But i can only playtest 1 game at a time. I’m currently doing 11 IPC cruiser and shockingly it’s not being purchased.

    • RE: [House Rules] The Cruiser

      Well the cruiser is a big success. BB’s and cruisers are being purchases now and the starting positions help balance out the game in many ways. One of the best changes is making anzac a little stronger.

      Everyone should give it a try. Definitely changes up the game for the better I feel.

      Also if you are using the BM3 in your game live or online you want to use the vichy french rule. I was wrong about that. But you might want to take one infantry out in northern italy and add one mech infantry. This lets you pic if you want germany or Italy to take normandy to activate the vichy rule.

    • RE: [House Rules] The Cruiser

      My only concern is that it might make Anzac too strong. If someone else could test it as well and let me know that would be great. Perhaps if you did Tamvan’s mod plus the cruiser change it would be a better balance.

    • RE: Most efficient Axis Turn 1 for Sea Lion option

      Well if you do carrier 2 transport or 2 bombers and a sub or Destroyer sub carrier is a great opener. The plan to build your fleet and have 7 to 10 transports. You can drop off the first load on scotland and the second hit london with everything. OR if you think your sealion will fail this gives you the option to do two things. Hit gibralter, clear the med for italy and quickly sack egypt OR take that fleet to sz 127 and crush leningrad for those extra 5 ipc’s.

      I like to play with options and it definitely gives you the most. 2 bombers and 1 sub gives you the most flexibility however since you can use those bombers anywhere whereas ships can only do one thing.
