RE: Transportable Global tableposted in Customizations
Yes, the map is rolled up in a round poster-container.
The unit bins are just a normal box for nails/screws. I got mine from here:
http://www.byghjemme.dk/pi/Sortimentsboks-med-21-rum-1874607.aspxI bought them when we were playing regular A&A Global 1940. If I were to do it over again, I would get boxes with more rooms to cater for the many new unit types in Global War. Having each unit separated reduces the time spent searching for what you need.
When you only play 2 people, you move around all the time  But lets just say that after 14 hours you start to get ‘battle-fatigue’

For those interested i’ve posted some information about my new Global War table here:
-
Transportable Global tableposted in Customizations
I want to show my newly created table for Global War. It is different from most other projects I have seen:
-
Takes 10min to set up - no tools required
-
I do not have a permanent ‘wargaming room’, so everything can be packed and stored using 25cm storage space. 4 pieces of 2cm thick plywood & 3 pieces of plexiglass
-
The map is 1meter from the floor. Players can thus comfortably play a whole day without ‘back injuries’
-
The frame can support 100kg, so players can lean onto the table
-
We are only 2 players, so mobility around the table is very important. Hence, we do not sit down around the table
-
Around 70cm at one end, for tech, attack/defense, dices etc.
-
Original Global War vinyl map from HBG - the largest one currently available
-
Covered in plexiglass to protect the map
-
We play onsite at both players. All players have the same board material stored (frame, plexiglass etc.) We only have to transport the unit pieces and the rolled-up vinyl map
-
Each country has its own box for units. Can support Global’s many different units by only having 1-2 units in each square
-
Unit boxes are placed on another table (not shown)

RE: Incorporating Global War 1939 units into Axis And Allies Global 2nd Editionposted in Global War
I second what others have said - it is very difficult to go back to basic A&A once you have tried the new map/units/rules.
HBG is working on a add-on set of units to go along with the A&A pieces needed for the game. They originally said they would release it Q1 2016.
To keep you updated, like “Global War” on facebook and sign up for their newsletter.

RE: Global War rules v. 1.1posted in Global War
Hi John,
I’m doing good. Looking forward to the first round of Global.
I originally wanted to create a magnetic board, but after getting the huge (awesome) map I changed my mind.
We will be playing with most of the expansions as well. Some are a quite clever addition IMO. What are your experiences regarding expansions??
From reading this, I came to the conclusion that v.1.1 was out:
http://www.globalwargame.com/www/question/updated-rules/
(as v.1.1 is also mentioned on the download page). The 23 points above are not in the rules from the download page (= v.1.0)
I can’t find where to create a profile. Can you drop me a link? :|
Regards,

Global War rules v. 1.1posted in Global War
The rules were updated a while ago from 1.0 to 1.1. The link on the download page still points to v.1.0. Has anyone noticed this?
I can see that some people here have posted questions on the FAQ. How did you go about this?
http://www.globalwargame.com/www/dwqa-questions/Right now it just says:
You do not have permission to submit a questionI have my first game coming up. I will post images of my custom table soon 8-)

RE: Global War, 2nd edition - due 1\. November 2015posted in Global War
The Soviets cannot rail their factory until they are at war with a Major Power. It can only rail minor factories.
I did check the rules and yes, they are not clear, so official clarification here - it has to be at war with a major powerWill you be updating the rules as official clarifications for uncertainties come to light? It is very easy with the digital format.
A problem with A&A G40 has always been you had to search for answers in the 100+ page FAQ, as the rules were printed…
It would be nice to have a definitive ruleset. -
RE: Global War, 2nd edition - due 1\. November 2015posted in Global War
John, thanks a lot for sharing.
Can you tell us more about the extra units/add-ons you have besides A&A G40 OOB?
- it seems you have HBG’s entire stock :-o

RE: Global War, 2nd edition - due 1\. November 2015posted in Global War
SS, thanks for sharing.
I assume you have the large version - it looks huge (awesome!)
If the new game mechanics are what they seem from reading the rules, it will be difficult to go back to A&A global!

John, as HBG has not updated their European store with GW2.0 yet, your pictures are the only chance us Europeans has of seeing this marvelous game. Please post asap :-P

RE: Taranto vs "defend Malta"posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
You can kill the blockers in combat and move the fleet in noncombat.
Thanks for clarifying. I haven’t thought about that.

RE: Taranto vs "defend Malta"posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
csaw,
How are your English fleet in the Med supposed to reach SZ92 in turn 1 when there are Italian blockers in SZ 96?
The way I see it you’re giving the Italians a shot at you navy with everything they’ve got including 3 planes + they can even get 4 ground troops into the Middle East.
Am I missing something? :?

Very good looking map :-P
You might want to keep an eye on the release of the new map for Global War - due in November:

Might give you some inspiration (or another map source)

RE: Development of Alternate Version of Rulesposted in Global War
Do you have your current rules written down? Would love to see where you are at this point.
Are you looking for feedback or help from other people, or are you doing this ‘locally’?
The new map should be a better version of 1939 revised. They have made more changes since the Facebook post, so I don’t know the current lay-out. How have you made your revisions to the 1939 map? Have you scanned the HBG one or are you using ‘pen & paper’ ?
Another question, how many hours do you envision a game will take?
Again, keep up the good work :-)

RE: G40 Halifax Rulesposted in House Rules
There has been some discussion about what to do with the ‘3-unit’ minor factories already on the board at startup. YoungGrasshoper has mentioned in the discussion that they should be changed to major factories, but it is not mentioned in the first post of this thread, so it is somewhat confusing :?
Do they become ‘5-unit’ major factories, or do they stay ‘3-unit’ minor factories?
