RE: Starting moves for CP - upcoming game 29th of March
@Carolina:
Anything to keep UK off mainland is good. I just never had luck with naval attack - very expensive to press the attack.
Going to attack the UK fleet turn 1, built a cruiser/sub or a battleship to bolster my navy again.

RE: Starting moves for CP - upcoming game 29th of March
@Carolina:
I play with a lot of house rule changes (including the map), because to me, CP is doomed otherwise.
However, to strategically control the game, I believe it centers around
- Get Italy
- with that you get easy access to SZ17 with AH fleet
- with that you get easy access to Egypt
Egypt and Africa keeps UK off balance
SZ17 keeps UK and France out of the Balkans
Play German against France with AH out of Italy. Try to keep Russians at arms length with as little as possible, but
SZ12 must be taken to put pressure on Moscow from north.So kill UK fleet round 1 is a no go? Should go take out Russian ship and land troops there?

Starting moves for CP - upcoming game 29th of March
Me and the lads are going to play another A&A 1914 game, this will be the 5th game we played with the same guys. Me and a buddy are CP, i am Germany and he is AH and Ottomans is for both of us. The Allied side have 3 sometimes 4 players. We have won three games in a row with the CP, the last game which was 2 months ago resulted in CP surrendering because my mate had to go to work but in al honesty the CP would have never won this game. The other games they surrendered because they could not brake through our Western lines.
Anyway, i want to do a different strategy now.
Austria-Hungary:
Attack Serbia with minimal troops to take over (if lucky) or contest. Move from two regions into Venice and take or contest ( perhaps opening Switzerland, and less in Venice?) Attack Poland so Germany can have better odds ( depending on Russian reaction of course) and attack Romania. And attack Tuscany of course…Germany:
I plan to attack the British navy with all German ships ready, move into Belgium and Poland.Ottomans:
no strategy in mind, depending on the situation make some moves. BTW we use a India max 4 placement of troops rule. And the US cant move any ships outside own waters.What do you guys think? A risky aggressive start as the CP? I might need to buy a cruiser/sub or both for Germany and a sub for AH? All these moves are meant to shock the Allied players hopefully.

RE: [1914] Good house rule for round 1 fleet battle?
My apologies for the lateness of this response.
I believe the rules of 1914 may already have an option for Germany. Simply move the Germany fleet to the coast of Britain, but do not roll dice there. By contesting the sea zone the British fleet must fight through Germany flight to load or offload.How? So just move in there and not attack and let the mines roll?

RE: Combat & movement
played the game yesterday, me and 2 friends were the Central Powers… The allies gave up, Italy and Russia were in collapse. Franca was messed up as well, Ottomans captured the entire east en egypt.
But one question remains, let say allied power attacks and captures Kiel. May the same power in the same turn reinforce it even though the TT is just captured?
What about reinforcing Kiel by the same power IF Kiel is still contested? -
RE: Combat & movement
So a contested TT can stay idle for many rounds if no one attacks, this may represent some fronts in WW1. Great addition to the boardgame. :-)

RE: 1914 Rules Rework
@Carolina:
I have also been looking at splitting up Arabia.
Wow that is a good idea, historically Shammar was allied to the Ottomans. Or perhaps make it a aligned nation with value of 1? So it can balance out against the British.
And also:
Mesopotamia split into 2 Territories, Armenia(North, Value of 1) and Mesopotamia(South, Value of 2).That is a good idea :)

RE: Combat & movement
Thank you Krieghund, amazing job you are doing 8-)
So if i have surviving units in a contested TT i can pull them out on my next turn, does it matter if the opponent counter attacks or stays idle?

Combat & movement
I am new to the forums, i have been reading through the 20+ pages and the FAQ for 2 days now. I missed some stuff which are also not mentioned that well in the rule book.
Lets say i am AH, i attack Venice and the region after the first battle is contested. Can i decide to retreat back to my original TT? Is retreat possible? Maybe i already know the answer but understand it wrong, English isnt my native language :)

Great work man, simply amazing. Any advise how to print?

RE: Invading colonies or countries with colonies
So what if Portugal is not activated by France or an allied nation, and i invade with Germany a Portuguese or Spanish colony… what happens then? just take over?

RE: Confused about the IPC collection rules for A&A 1914 and in general
I am confused lol, i bought the game and played with 4 other guys. I thought that if lets say Smyrna is contested first round by France or England, Ottoman loses the points so it starts with 13 instead of 16. But that is not the case? So Ottoman can spend 16 because it has it already in the bank? But after collecting IPC in final round then it reduces it if territory is still contested?
