Hey! I’m back!
To be honest, I’d like the UK fighter to be on the UK carrier. I did not consider you landing it on the US carrier.
I’ve got a request too: I forgot to move one artillery from FIC into Shan state and am too lazy to redo the whole combat turn. I hope it’s ok if I just resolve that fight here via dicebot.
Ah and another thing: I assumed no suicide scramble from India but let me know if I assumed wrongly!

RE: Post League Game Results Hereposted in League
Elche’s Allies+15 beat my Axis in BM4.
After a successful sealion I already saw myself winning. However, playing extremely bad with Japan - usually my strong suit - made everything crumble and the final nail in the coffin was a tactical mistake I made with Germany that gave Russia a chance for a lucrative battle… which the dice made even worse and netting me a whopping -103 TUV in a single battle.

One advice I can give you:
Don’t build so many destroyers.
They serve 2 purposes: Blocking fleets and detecting subs.So you need to have enough destroyers to have a blocker when needed and to always be able to detect subs.
Ideally, the big navy stack of Japan/USA should have no more than a single destroyer.
Subs are better at everything else.
I once calculated the optimal fleet composition, a long time ago. You should have around 5 subs for every full carrier.
So for example a fleet could look like this:1 destroyer
15 submarines
3 carriers
6 fighters
Cost: 206 TUV
Offensive Power: 50
Defensive Power: 47
Hitpoints: 28
Cost: 206Consider the alternative with only destroyers instead of subs:
12 destroyers
3 carriers
6 fighters
Cost: 204 TUV
Offensive Power: 42
Defensive Power: 48
Hitpoints: 24
Cost: 204You can already see that the destroyer setup has far less offensive power (1 1/3 hits in one round on average!). There’s no debate at all that the subs are leagues ahead when attacking.
And defensively they are almost the same, while having 4 more hitpoints - so even defensively the subs outperform the destroyer.Consider the same setup in a fight against an equally strong navy. Let’s say the fleets suffer 10 hits in the first round. how does it look like in the 2nd round?
Sub-setup:
1 destroyer
3 damaged carriers
8 submarines
6 fighters
Defensive power: 40
Remaining Hitpoints: 18Destroyer-setup:
5 destroyers
3 damaged carriers
6 fighters
Defensive power: 40
Remaining Hitpoints: 14Let’s speculate that both fleets suffer another 8 hits in the next round:
Sub-Setup
1 destroyer
3 damaged carriers
6 fighters
Defensive power: 32
Remaining hitpoints: 10Destroyer setup:
6 fighters
Defensive power: 24
Remaining hitpoints: 6I hope you see that submarines are better in every regard than destroyers. And I didn’t even mention convoy!

Well maybe there are various schools of thought, but the math doesn’t change ;-)
Subs are superior in defense as well, as long as you have fighters and carriers with them…

A specific combination is 1 in 51!
52! is about 8*10^63 if I’m not mistaken.
Just for comparison, the amount of protons (not even atoms!) in the whole planet earth is something like 10^50 or so.

Please use this file.
You didn’t play it out properly, only changing the units. But you forgot the resources (PU).I played out the game up until now, editing the combat results

RE: L23 BM4 Pejon_88 (Allies+17) vs Roboto (Axis)posted in League
Yes it’s probably because I had to redo the turn, because I forgot to save the file.
@MrRoboto said in L23 BM4 Pejon_88 (Allies+17) vs Roboto (Axis):
Now I got so excited about that result, I forgot to save the file…
I have to redo the rest of the combat turn and will edit everything accordinglyWith “rest of the combat” I meant everything after I asked for your OOL
In the correct turn, I actually scored one hit less than in the one I saved and posted:
@MrRoboto said in L23 BM4 Pejon_88 (Allies+17) vs Roboto (Axis):
Germans roll dice for 1 battleship, 2 bombers, 4 fighters and 4 tactical_bombers in 110 Sea Zone, round 3 : 8/11 hits, 6,67 expected hits
This is consistent with the mail from Marti:
Germans roll dice for 1 battleship, 2 bombers, 4 fighters and 4 tactical_bombers in 110 Sea Zone, round 3
Your dice are: 3,4,6,2,1,4,1,4,2,5,1Battleship: 3
2 bombers: 4 | 6
4 fighters: 2 | 1 | 4 | 1
4 tacs: 4 | 2 | 5 | 1Those are the 8 hits.
Now why did I (or we?) only receive those 2 mails and not more? Why did I not receive the mails when I had to repeat the turn? I have no idea, MARTI has been acting wild for quite some time now. In almost every turn, there are some mails missing.
This is an extremely annoying situation, since it creates an atmosphere of distrust. One thing we can do is rolling on the forum, even though this certainly is quite inconvenient. Maybe for bigger battles like that sea battle. Would you prefer that?

RE: L23 BM4 Gamerman (Allies+10) vs Roboto (Axis)posted in League
That German defense was really strong, nice.
I’m quite uncertain the movement of my Japanese Fleet to a seazone without a harbour is a good idea, but every option had it’s disadvantages. Overall I hope this is the least bad option.

RE: L23 BM4 Pejon_88 (Allies+17) vs Roboto (Axis)posted in League
No, those are the only ones. I have received some from August, but that was another battle in 110. Sometimes I receive MARTI mails late, but not always.
I suggested that approach because, as Pejon already correctly stated, I still have a slight edge of two more hits than average. Considering that I give up a huge dicing in my favour (that can’t be confirmed) I thought this was fair and Pejon seems to agree.
If, however, you’d prefer the cleanest option (which is to roll the entire battle here), that’s fine with me too. That would certainly leave no sour taste in any direction. I’ll ask one more time! My next post will include dice rolls, no matter how you decide ;-)
Going forward, I agree with you Pejon - rolling every battle here is strenuous. It seems that the biggest issue seems to be battles with multiple rounds. Would you prefer rolling bigger battles here and leaving small skirmishes to MARTI?
By the way - I really do appreciate the discussion with you Pejon. You have every right to be distrustful and even angry, but you remain very polite and diplomatic. Thanks for that!

RE: L23 BM4 Gamerman (Allies+10) vs Roboto (Axis)posted in League
I do sometimes do mock turns, but not very often. I did not do it with this Italy turn (if I recall correctly).
I did some thinking and I do have a pretty good idea of what happened. When I play lots of turns in a row without closing TripleA in between, the engine crashes.
Sometimes it freezes, sometimes it’s just super super slow (unplayable slow), sometimes it doesn’t load at all and I even have to restart my computer. In all cases, I have to shut down TripleA with the task manager.
I can show you the error the next time I encounter it. Something with “java heap” somethingsomething.
Now most of the time this error occurs when loading a map, but occasionally it happens while playing.
It never occured to me that the engine freezes but still loads and rolls the combat in background. This is what must have happened.
But why did the engine send you a mail but not me?And yeah, I did not get the defense Mail either. Someone (I think it was even you!) mentioned in the League general discussion thread, that Yahoo Mail works better than GMail and this case seems to confirm it. I think I’m gonna create a Yahoo Mail for MARTI.
