A four-megaton nuclear bomb was one switch away from exploding over the US in 1961, a newly declassified US document confirms.

Two bombs were on board a B-52 plane that went into an uncontrolled spin over North Carolina - both bombs fell and one began the detonation process.

Jermofoot, my job is not to inform you of what the rest of the world is saying about windows 8, YOU should be curious, if you are not then I really can’t help you.

Education is good, I commend you on that.  I would offer you some advice, learn linux as well.  Your MS ticket can be declared outdated just like an older version of windows where support is no longer provided.

      Windows 8 is really 8.00

In the software world, we call the version X. “oh oh”.  You avoid version “oh oh” like the plague.

Jermofoot, corporate people who use windows for productivity are the ones complaining about windows 8.  Pick up a non-microsoft sponsored trade journal on IT and read what users are saying, they hate it.

Corporations don’t like upgrading operating systems because it often breaks older software that works just fine.  There is a reason why lots of companies still use older versions of an OS besides just being lazy.

You think windows 8 is all that, try reading some articles on it from people not on the microsoft payroll…

This site is a bit whacked but I recommend it for IT and strangish science news…

      http://www.theregister.co.uk/

variance hit the nail on the head.  People don’t want to relearn the applications they have been using for years just to do the same job.  I started in IT BEFORE windows…  I was a power user of windows 3.11, and have to write software for microsoft operating systems using microsoft programming tools.  Trust me, change is not a welcome thing when it is forced on you.

    • RE: A&A 1942 Epic Rules Dispute

bananasling, if memory serves me correctly, the way you interpreted the rules was the way older versions of the game were played.

Not only can you do this with navy but with land.  You can attack and capture a territory then with your non-combat phase move tanks (that of course did not participate in any combat) through that newly captured territory and beyond it to a friendly territory on the other side to say reinforce an ally’s position.  Krieghund will correct me if I am wrong but when it was done to me for the first time….its hard to forget.

Macs are not meant for people who work?  Maybe if you do software development……  But windows 8 does suck.  Macs have the highest user satisfaction rating of any computer.  I of course use a PC…

I hate that microsoft keeps changing where to find things.  Memories of using 6 other MS versions doesn’t help.

Agreed on Openoffice, I use it.

Windows sales are based on unit shipments.  If you get a pc with windows 8 and downgrade it to win7 for your corporation standards, it still counts as a windows 8 sale even if the license is NEVER activated.

I didn’t know IL lost the last of his titles.  In fact I was off the forum for awhile.  The fact he just called me a drop out prevents me from having any sympathy for him.  Well that and IL calling me a wife beater, fat etc, but he has called better people worse.  I must say I am pleased that there appears to be some justice in this world.

      Garg is correct.

      I agree with Garg 100%

Let me say that Garg is correct ok?

Indeed……  Perhaps its time to rethink my with-holding of support for this site.

      I’m at least 75%.

Surprise Attack, do you come in from the Buffalo/Fort Erie crossing?  My small farm is about 10 minutes from the border crossing in Fort Erie.  I’ve been renovating it for the last few months and it will be ready in spring, might be a possible meeting place.

Heck the entire event could be held there, cept I have no cool tanks are other military equipment….unless I get that one that was for sale for 30 grand…cheap!

Actually IL, my post had nothing to do with attacking you directly or indirectly per se.

Sorry you don’t understand but this is my stock post when i run across you:

Interesting, a liaison (was….) for this website has stock replies he just copies and pastes when dealing with other paying members of the site.  So rather than actually read posts and intelligently reply you have stock copy and pastes.  This is an official position held at this site but implemented by a child.  You are certainly the reason why I will never give this site a dime again.

Update, since justice has been served and representatives of this site are now being truly held accountable for their actions I can in good faith continue to support this excellent forum.

    • RE: FMGC 2013 - Gaming Convention - GTA CANADA

I had a great Saturday at the event, sadly I could not return Sunday.   I’m certainly getting a room next time.

This marks the second year walking into the place alone and feeling comfortable and welcome, what a great group of people!

Raymond, was a pleasure to meet you and your friends, thanks for asking me into your game within a minute of me entering.  I hope your crew returns next year, if so then for sure I am booking 2 nights so we can get into some more epic games!

Thanks to everyone who humoured me and played my 1980s classic Illuminati!

Surprise Attack, great seeing you again.

Garg, Axis playa and others who could not return from last year……you guys missed a great weekend!!!  Hope to see you next year!

Saturday and Sunday are looking to be great weather days.  Friday has turned out to be a chilly day for the bikers headed to Port Dover.  I was going to go in the street rod but parking it in a wet farmers field to shuttle in……maybe next time!  So no Friday the 13th at Port Dover, so glad I can look forward to this event and great weather Saturday and Sunday!

Actually IL, my post had nothing to do with attacking you directly or indirectly per se.  It was a tongue in cheek comment about some who accuse others of trolling when often it’s a disagreement but I can see how it might apply to you to a degree.  My apologies if you felt persecuted again.  I had hoped the wry grin would lighten the tone and suggest humour or how do you guys say it….humor.

No IL, if I was going to lash out at you I would call you an ass or ask you to step outside.  I’ll leave the name calling to others.  Have a great day and keep your head up in the face of persistent and relentless attacks on your character and intelligence.

    • RE: Morning of September 11, 2001

My sister was stuck in Chicago for a few days and was contemplating renting a car and driving back to southern Ontario until she could fly back to San Diego where she and her family live.  There was awhile where we didn’t know where she was.  Statistically it was unlikely she was on one of those planes but she did fly quite a bit for her job and there was a chance > 0 so there was real concern for her safety for awhile.

My thought was that Al Qaeda had succeeded more than they had hoped and that if anything, it worked too well.  Too well in that there was going to be bloody hell to pay for them.

I wonder when the Chinese will become the new ‘great satan’?  The US will be energy self sufficient in a few years and with China supporting Assad in Syria……the groundwork for a strong Sino-hate of godless commies ought to be formulating…

Internal politics aside, it seems to be a good time to be an American.

    • RE: Morning of September 11, 2001

After a night of hard drinking I woke up on my buddies couch and wanted to know what time it was so I turned on the tv to the cable tv tv-guide.  In the corner runs news but I had the sound off.  I noticed the video was showing the trade towers burning and I thought they were previewing a movie or something.  After my eyes focused a bit better I turned up the sound and watched the unbelievable horror and watched the buildings collapse.

People say “Where were you the day you found out that so and so died” and I always thought that silly, I never had a memory or event like that, until that day……

I can’t believe where the summer went!

Most Holy,  what’s your weekend shaping up like?  I have not committed to a room or just driving up each day.  If the weather is good I’d love to drive the Z28 but it’s a 4 seater in name only.  I’d hate to be in the back seat for two hours with me driving!

Garg, was looking forward to seeing you again, pity you can’t make it……

    • RE: Is it worth buying if I have the 1st?

If you liked the first addition get the second.  At first blush the differences don’t look that big, until you play it.  I’ve only played the second version a small fraction of the number of first addition games but only due to a lack of time.  Luckily a friend  bought it and left it at my place when it first came out.  Of course I did buy the other 3 versions of AA our group has access to!

It seems the first game was slanted towards the allies the second game has a slight axis advantage.  Those slants may take several games for you to notice.  I would recommend that if you have a local group you play face to face with to get it, don’t study the forums for what others think but rather just play it in your group.  I love how strategies can change so quickly when feeling out a new game.  What worked the first game might look plain silly in the forth game!  It’s not often you get a change to do that with a new board game so have fun with this one!
