RE: HBG Spanish Civil War Rules?
-
Is it time for a fantasy and science fiction expansion?
As mythology has indicated, strange creatures have been a part of our world since recorded time. What if they were still out there, living remotely and in small colonies? Would it be possible to harness their capabilities and direct their power for wartime purposes? The most developed relationships and loyalties between man and creatures would be with dragons, mostly due to their intelligence and linguistic capacity (see Temeraire by Naomi Novik, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temeraire_(series)). However, each nation could take advantage of the war capacity of all indigenous fabulous creatures. Additionally, some farsighted scientist has seen opportunity in the technological wonders of the modern era to move their war fighting capability to fantastic levels. This game would include dragons, giants, mechanized soldiers, jet pack soldiers and many more limited quantity but significant additions. Thoughts?

RE: Nationalist Chinese income question
They collect separately. Even after the truce, they are separate countries and collect separately.

RE: HBG's Global War 1939 FAQ
Can bombers drop paratroopers in enemy territories without friendly units attacking from the ground/amphibious assault?
Yes
Do these bonus stack? Ex. A US marine gets +1 in an amphibious assault and there’s an artillery with it so another +1= attacking at 5.
Or is their combat value capped. Ex. The US marines get +1 in an amphibious assault OR an artillery because his combat value is 3(4) in the unit list and not 3(4-5)Marines do not get +1, they just attack at 3 and have no double casualties. The artillery cannot land until round 2, and then the marines have +1.
But combat value is not capped and bonus do stack–there is no prohibition against this in the rules but it would be rare.

RE: HBG's Global War 1939 FAQ
Commie China never gets more than 1 infantry per turn, or any other unit even if they own all of China. Correct
This is not correct. CCP can build as many units as they can afford, but only place 3/territory. There is also a special recruitment roll based on territories possessed.

Working on them now, along with the items and overlays necessary to supplement the game: late tanks, late jets, heavy jet bombers, along with partisans and nukes.

RE: Beyond 1945
6 Scenarios that are conditions based or have a historical setup from 1945/1946
1. Operation Pluto-Плутон-Historical 1946 situation, USSR surprise attack on Western Allies
2. Operation Unthinkable-Western Allied surprise attack on USSR
3. German/USSR Truce
4. German/Western Allied Truce
5. Japan/Western Allied Truce-Japan must declare war on USSR
6. Axis Split-Germany and Japan at war with one another, Japan must declare war on USSR -
RE: Beyond 1945
I do wonder if this is in any way what HBG has in mind with their spinoff games. 1861, 1914, 1920’s, 1936, Cold War, Modern, Future, etc. Will they all be linked based off of previous games, or are each stand alone games. I’ve always been a bit unclear which it is.
It will be a combination of both. We are discussing a chart to link outcomes to follow on setup, but each game will be able to stand alone.

RE: Beyond 1945
Consider the following rules:
1. Having guidelines on the new alliances based on various July 1945 situations.
2. Consider scenarios that may contain strategic surprise such as Unthinkable or a Soviet warplan to grab up the rest of Europe.
3. New technology with late/advanced tanks, jets, and nukes. -
Beyond 1945
As your Global War games nears the end of 1945, how would you like the game to continue? Any rule adaptations? Guidelines for WW3 with the Soviets?

I can attest that this works!

Can I land a fighter in contested territory?

RE: Axis and Allies 1914 FAQ/Question and Answer Thread
When AH attacks an original Italian territory–Venice for example–and at the end of the round it is contested because AH and Italy both occupy it, does Italy lose the income at their collect income phase?

RE: David's Opening the Box Video Now Posted
im personaly PISSED at the tiger tank os japans, and the is-2 used for ALL the allies
Seems cheap. I might have been interested, but WOTC are making things too “affordable.” The game needs to stay classy. They could have used more unique pieces for each nation and I hope that the other pieces to the game (like roundels) are of a quality worthy of A&A.

RE: Alpha 3.9 Favors Axis
Seems balanced to me, with co-equal players.
-
RE: Axis strategy
I like the strategy where the Axis focuses all their energy on taking out the UK. Sealion, own the med, and take India. Start by cutting out all the nearly irreplaceable ships in all 3 theaters of war and watch the UK wither. In 3 turns, the UK may be nearly out of the game.

RE: 94Canuck's Global 1940 Alpha +3 Setup Charts and Game Aids
Perhaps it is best to wait and see if Larry will finish with modifications. I would think there would be an official v1 publication when it is complete.
Perhaps WOTC will publish the new rules and allow the A&A populace a chance to purchase new rules, set up cards, etc at a discount or download them. But maybe that is too much to ask.

RE: Any news on reprint of both games ? Im hesitant to buy copies currently ><
Another error in Pac40 was the battlestrip. It is reprinted from AA42. So it has a german roundel and lacks mech inf and tac bomber markings. WOTC had a fix kit for the tacs and the strips for a while, not sure if they still do. The fix kit included a new strip and 6 Tacs, the extra 3 were a bonus to make up for the error.
They still ship 'em out. I received mine just a month ago.

RE: Need help as Axis in Alpha +3
1. You could try Sealion.
2. Never let your German AF sit and defend, use it to crush the UK Med fleet or assist in USSR.
3. If he moves that much from UK into the Med, then the Japanese should go crush India.
4. Keep German subs active and be sure you own SZ125.As a rule, I use every piece, every turn. I am either attacking or setting up for a future attack. Even my pieces defending somewhere are being staged for a future attack. To solely defend is to lose.
Just some ideas…

RE: Alpha 3 due next week
Naval attacks in the SZ south and west of Iceland. The US took on that responsibility after a transport with US citizens was sunk by a German sub.
