Taking Alaska will delay the shuck-shuck for a while but then again it will also delay Japan in its march on Russia - Japan needs all its forces in Russia.

Only India is close enough to Russia to make it worth it. Make sure Japan has plenty of tr. to constantly send inf + armor towards Russia; that´s really more important than an ic.

Good points. I´ve always found it weird how you can define someone as being poor. There´s a poverty level and people living under this level are poor by definition, but this level is based on income. What if money is a scarecity? All anyone really needs to survive is food, clothing and shelter. If you can build or make these things, are you still poor?
Are you poor because you can´t BUY food but have to grow it?
Are you poor because you make too little money to get cable tv?
Are you poor if you want more money?

No one is liable to play this out, beacause as it is, the Allies win 80% of the time. If Russia attacks on the first turn, you can increase that to 95%.

BTW, before posting it´s usually a good idea to get the names of the territories that you´re talking about.

C_F, I have a bad feeling that that cocktail will expose the mixer to various gasses. No doubt this will increase your enjoyment of color and make even a losing game seem like a winning one - but think of the long-term effects!!!

When the US builds a navy consisting mainly of tr. it begins building inf in EUS and walking them to Canada. It sends its tr. to the Canadian sea zone, loads the inf onto them, “shucks” off the coast of Canada, and “shucks” onto the coast of Norway (which Russia has taken). The US says “Shuck-shuck” when transporting its troops to signify that G is screwed. It´s childish and immature, and that´s what makes it fun!

Sure, it may take longer to obtain a search warrant and the criminal will get away with the evidence before the police show up. But if the police really think someone is doing something illegal, how difficult will it be for them to get a small bit of evidence to present to a judge who will then get them the warrant? I believe that no matter whose house the police search, they will find SOMEthing illegal (except mine of course), a taped baseball game, a copy of Lord of the Rings on a burnt CD, cuban cigars, illegal mp3 files, office supplies or that altar for human sacrifice. So if you removed the need for a warrant, people would be fearing a knock on their doors 24 hours a day, because (let´s face it) people are not going to stop being criminal - that´s just communism!

A jury of REAL peers (murderers judging a murderer, drugdealers judging a drugdealer etc.) will never convict anyone, so you´re left with the soccer moms and such. These people may be more easily swayed by retoric and fancy testimonies, so that in the end, they give the verdict to the guy with the flashier presentation. And does anyone really believe that it´s possible to ignore some piece of evidence even after the judge says: “The jury will disregard that comment (or whatever)”? A group of judges would probably be less problematic than a jury of “peers”.

The death penalty will do nothing. The y have the death penalty in many muslim countries for much smaller crimes than murder. They chop peoples hands off for stealing. Have people stopped stealing or murdering? No. Your sense of justice may be greater if a guy gets the chair, though …

But Japan is always safe! Russia doesn´t threaten Japan. The US diverts its forces to Europe and doesn´t threaten Japan either. Don´t even get me started on UK!!! ;-)

G and R end up stacking a lot of inf on each side of their borders, without doing much attacking because it will be every costly. If Germanys money is slowly drained away, the Russians will get the upper hand. I´m not saying that that will happen faster than when UK + US ship inf to Norway, but it´s a new way of playing the battle. In either case, the deciding factor is when Japan can attack Moscow.

Germany can just stack Eastern Europe and wait for Japan, which will steam roll Russia.

My point is that G CAN`T stack against Russia because it runs out of money to buy inf with. Its only hope is that J will take R before R gets strong enough to run over the troops that G had at the beginning of the game and the few it has bought since.
But you´re absolutely right in that the allies won´t win the game just by SBRs. They will have to buy a navy. The posted strategy requires that R takes G, or that UK and US biuld a navy after knocking the tar out of G.

It´s a good game and I´ll save a lot of my own time by just mentioning the things I think could be changed.

As Kobu said: More chips! Not only single chip markers, but also higher values. I´m using green chips from a poker set to mark tens. And I STILL have to flip the icon-markers for more values.

Since almost everyone uses the box to roll the dice in, maybe the box should be made of a sturdier material. It´s essential to have a good box!

Since I live in Denmark, all those great movies won´t be avaiable to me until several months after they´re done in the cinemas in the US.

So what you´re saying is I have a ot of great movies to look forward to?

Two things come to mind: One is that tech is a risky adventure as is and rarely used so often as to warrant “levelling up”. Two: The tech rules seem good as is, to me anyway.

Other than that: Interesting. I dont understand the "but you choose if they go up at the beginning(before you roll you say cont. up and if rolled and they can they are… or you canre-roll each one that otherwis would) "

Personally I don´t think I will ever use this, but if you and the people you play with like to tech develop, then it´s probably a good idea to develoip new ideas for this - as you have done. There are other subjects on this matter on this forum. You may find them interesting.

Haven´t tried this, but statistically the money Germany loses on SBRs will equal the amount of money spent on replacing bombers shot down by AA. Of course, if BOTH UK and US do this, Germany will be left with no money and should fall to Russia before Japan gets to Russia, simply because G can´t buy inf to protect itself.
IMO, UK can afford this because it isn´t threatened by a G attack. US can afford it because it will take J too long to launch an amphibious assault on the US.

An interesting strategy that should shock the opponent!
