Need a good COLD WAR game for sure!
I agree, I tried creating one using the current AAG40 maps and units but to no avail.

After digging through the forums I am leaning towards the 1d6 for each oil center held. At the begging of
the game the following countries will control these number of oil centers.Germany -2
Russia - 2
Japan - 0 (but able to focus on the DEI)
UK - 1 (Can take Persia and Iraq)
USA - 3
Italy - 0 (Better reason to push into the Middle East)
ANZAC - 0 (Can take DEI)
France - 0
China - 0P.S. Any territories that I should add?
USA seems low, they controlled 60-80% of the oil in 1939 depending on where you read the information from.
You are right; However, the US already has a monster income and for balance purposes I thought 3 would be enough. SS that is an interesting rule that I will have to try out.

I have always wanted to add oil centers as a house rule but need help developing rules for them, and what territories they should belong in. So far my list of which territories should have oil centers are:
Slovakia/Hungary
Romania
Caucasus
Northwest Persia
Persia
Iraq
Saudi Arabia
Sumatra
Java
Venezuela
Mexico
Central United States
Alaska
Borneo
Kazakhstan
Please feel free to criticize the list or make additions, any help is appreciated :-)

What do you guys do when an important battle goes horribly wrong?
In the past several games, bad dice have ruined our game because the player on the receiving end gives up after seeing no way to come back after a horribly, disastrous battle.
It’s a shame to see a good game go to waste because one battle went horribly wrong. In the interest of keeping the game going, we may allow one battle re-roll per game, or replace the units back on the board and skip the attack altogether. Neither of these are great options.
I’m open to suggestions, and I’d rather not use low-luck, etc. Or find new players, lol
If you get DICED in a certain battle then you need to learn to deal with it as the dice represent the fog of war. As overall commander you can place your units in harms way but then the only decisions you can make is who gets killed first or you may decide to retreat. The dice then represent your field commanders and the decisions they might make. If the dice are bad then your field commanders goofed.
Dude, I totally agree with your asessment about bad dice being the “Fog of War”.
I agree as well. Seeing as how the game does not include terrain, weather effects, experience, supplies and many other factors that contribute to victory my gaming group considers the luck of the dice to represent this.
P.S. I believe the Persians want a re-roll after the battle of thermopylae :-P

I dont think they actually exist molinar…
Anyone would know that it’s a joke, but in reality I do not have a favorite government op.
I chose other. I’m all for the War between United Nations Space Command and the Covenent Military. WHAT! you didnt say it had to be real.
Actually I find the Halo fictional war to be a very very entertaining piece of fiction, at least for me. The space battles described in the books are well detailed even though us humans get our butts handed to us. But hey at least when it comes to the ground war we have the advantage with the spartans 8-). That was of course till Reach fell, and along with it most of the spartan soldiers……Back to reality, Cuban Missile Crisis is first on my list, followed by Covert Ops done by the CIA throughout the second half of the twentieth century, (Too many to name).
I dont know if this belongs in variants or in other games so I don’t care if a moderator moves it. Also if there are any Halo fans out there your goning to like this. So my friend got Halo Wars: Risk for Christmas and I was really happy. Another boardgame for our risk group to play :-D. however i was dissappointed by the fact that it has no special rules :x! Its just likw risk revised but with halo grunts, marines, tanks, and Spartans. So I had a great idea. Why not revise it and add Axis and Allies rules to it. Even use some pieces! So we got to work. And thats about it. Tell me if you like the idea.
Being a big Halo fan myself I would love it! Good luck on the project and hope you keep us updated.
August Burns Red is a Christian band :-D (I am not joking). Metal, Rock, Classic Rock, Hard Rock, and Thrash Metal are what I listen to. Favorite bands would have to be Metallica (They did NOT exist in the 90’s!) , Avenged Sevenfold (RIP The Rev), Bullet for my Valentine (Getting too soft), AC DC (My first taste of Rock), and ZZ top (Represent my home town).
I used to love those things. Me and my friend played the, coordinated what games we bought so we could “catch em all” and he even made an elaborate chart showing where to catch each pokemon! The cards were fun too we loved em and collected them by the crap load. I liked the show at first (u know the original pokemon) but then it got cheezy and i lost interest (that or i got to old :-().
I lost interest in the show when the pokemon introduced I believe it was the 3rd generation? I was the only one in my school who actually knew how to play the card game, other were just interested in collecting the holographic cards, so I never player the card game with anyone else except my brother. The hobby store I visit plays the TCG of pokemon, but it’s nothing what I remember (new rules I guess?). I bought one of the latest versions for the Nintendo DS 3 years ago and it wasn’t bad, the graphics were awesome but the characters looked as if a 5 year old came up with them (probably).
Why is that molinar?
Mainly because it was the first AA game I ever played and it is what made me into a fan, so classic has a place in my heart . It had its issues but it was simplistic and its always the version I use to introduce a new friend into the series.
Today I was going through my closet and notice my old GameBoy and pokemon games. Growing up in the late 90’s early 2000’s this was a big hit for my friends and I, and apparently still is with today’s kids. I remember watching the TV show, collecting the cards and buying the games. After about 3 season I lost track of the show and same with the cards; However, I kept playing the video games. If anything the games promoted cooperation between my friends and I (trying to catch them all) strategy, and reading (A lot of reading!). Random topic but just curious if any one else here has had a pokemon experience.
I would like to play with the Alpha+2 rules. PM me if you would like to play a game
Hello, this would be my first time playing on the forums so bare with me. I am looking for a game to play in preferably AAG40, where I could play as the minor powers ex: China, ANZAC, France, and ill even take Italy. I am not very experience but would like to become better. I know to use the dice roller on the forum, I have the AA battlemap, and have even studied other people’s games. Respond to the topic if your are willing to let a noob join
@ABWorsham:
I chose other, the Cuban Missile Crisis. It just amazes me how close the world came to utter destruction with in those couple of weeks. And what would have happened if Kennedy had authorized stronger action against Cuba. If anything would have lead to world war III it would have defiantly been this conflict if things had gone south.
The 1973 Arab-Israeli War pushed the Super Powers close to war also. The Soviets threaten to send 100,000 paratroopers into Israel, if the Israeli counter attack did not hault it’s advance into Egypt.
You bring a another conflict that could have easily, become a much bigger war. I do agree with Gargantua, Patton did have the right idea. I mean just look at most of the conflicts post WWII some would not have occurred had the USSR been defeated before hand.
If you dont like corndogs then I have no time for you.
Steaks are boring and anything above medium rare or using A1 steak sauce might as well Be a Steakum. Also, bacon.
I like corndogs, its just not my top 5.
