      There are indeed many tales untold.

      But to go back to the issue: bombers can win campaigns if fighters have won air supremacy. Else bombers will have to do night raids, which are more terror than actual strategical bombing.

      By the way, I would love to discuss these things, but I am student here and not a lecturer  :-D

      You are completely on your own class far higher than the rest to talk here. I guess that makes even unintelligent talk non-existent here.

      @wittmann:

      Who is a clever boy then!
      I only hire girls between 16-18 who are studying “A” levels at college. It is a hard life!
      My wife  used to be one of our 16 year old part time college girls.
      You know how it is, one thing leads to another…
      Needless to say, I am a lucky man.
      Good luck. Might you need to leave your country for work? Would you?

      xD You are very lucky then, but I can say I am very lucky too. Lady Luck has always looked fondly at me :D

      I know it would be very very hard to make my wife move away from Finland, she is so relatives and family centric person. Anyway, there could be a very tiny chance for me to talk her to move abroad, if I would get a job worth it. And I am not talking about money, which has always been at best necessary evil for me and at other times irrelevant.

      My respects by the for small business. I honour those who have their job and living on their hands. Good luck with your business too, and if I ever come to UK I want to come try your restaurant - and as a paying customer. I just hope you have some Real Ale or can at least tell me a pub serving one :D

      @wittmann:

      That could be it, thanks.
      I see you are here quite a bit. Do you work from home or are you lucky enough to use your phone at work? I am free all day, except my wife(the chef) and I have our 3 year old until 5pm when we go and work in our small restaurant 5 evenings a week(Tues-Sat).

      I just this month got my degree. Now I am looking for full time work.

      I have worked (and do work) part-time in home and not in home, but now because of that small baby I definetly want to work not at home. No peace here  :-D

      So, if anyone want to hire a fresh Bachelor of Engineering with years of experience especially on GNU/Linux systems, then I am available  :-D I can do a lot of things already and learn to do even more.

      There is three versions of Napoleonic Empires.

      One 5 Player Free For All (FFA)
      One 8 player Free For All (FFA)
      One 8 player, which does have predetermined fixed alliances you can’t change ever.

      We are playing 8 player non-balanced Napoleonic Empires, with free alliances, that is 8 player Free For All (FFA).

      In FFA you can make alliances with anyone and wage war against anyone.

      You maybe played non-FFA Napoleonic Empires, in which Sweden can’t make peace with Austria.

      @wittmann:

      Do you know the answer: can Sweden only ask you for Open Borders or is it a Ceasefire?
      I have played 2-3 hours by myself and am sure, following our Diplomacy, the PC was not offering Ceasefire as an option. Have I seen it wrong?
      Can Sweden offer you one?

      Yes it can. It can offer cease fire now and open borders next turn.

      There is no restrictions in FFA how you make alliances or wage wars.

      Am I right in saying Sweden was at war with UK, Austria(now Open Borders), the Turk and Russia? We are waiting on 3 replies still.
      Then you go Moilami.

      You are quite right. Quite a warmonger for such small nation xD

      And the obvious: Instead of writing Mein Kampf I would had studied history and warfare while in prison, and never started campaign against jews.

      Maybe shot Himmler 1939.

      @Tall:

      Hmmm,

      First off, I must have at least twenty different answers to the many variations of this question!

      After giving the matter some serious thought, as a military historian, I would have to say, my favorite WW2 aircraft would be the Douglas C-47 Skytrain that hauled the beans, bullets, & bast*rds w/parachutes that made everything else possible.

      I kind of surprised myself with this answer after reading so many books about the “Jugernaught” P-47 Thunderbolts and “Whistling Death” F-4U Corsairs.

      I’m certain that this isn’t the sexiest answer, and a lot of people here might be groaning now, but I feel that the C-47 in doing it’s job, made more of an impact than any other aircraft in WW2 for the allies.

      And remember, General George S. Patton, a serious TANK expert, said the same thing about the 2-1/2 ton truck!

      I’d love to “discuss” all of the different variables included in this question. Such as Fighter, Bomber, American, German, most effective, most feared, fastest, etc., etc, etc.

      “Tall Paul”

      I found your answer to be very interesting out of the box thinking.

      I just want to remind you what would had that plane done if not escorted by fighters? Bring some supplies far behind enemy lines.

      Everything in Aerial Warfare starts from fighters. They are the ground to build upon other operations.

    • RE: Favourite WW2 Aircraft?

      A very tough question, there are so many great planes!

      After a minute or so of hard thinking one rose above the rest.

      Had you seen that from below, you would had known that now begun a serious fight for your life.

      In that fine aircraft every little detail shines a simple and clear message: Killer.

      A 7 year old politician cannot be any worse than the adult ones we have here, Stalingradski.

      LOL, that was by far the best line of text I have ever read here. It is so good because it is so true.

      And that includes me too inline with 7 years old politicians.

      Mine less than year old kid will replace my political announcements by bashing the keyboard enthusiastically after I rage quit :D
