@The-Captain ooohhhh we forgot about that!
I’m not sure how much of a difference 2 less u-boats would have made but we definitely need to remember that!

@Panzerstahl-Helm @The-Captain I personally would like to see revamped technology charts. With all of the new additions from the HRE the technology charts aren’t very attractive to spend money on. Some of the advantages they provide have already been worked into the units and rules provided by the HRE.

Woot! Woot! See pictures of what the board looked like at the end of the game.

@The-Captain These new charts are useful - thank you!
@barnee That’s what I thought but just wanted to confirm. Thank you!
Re: Elite Infantry & Paratroopers
@The-Captain Can you build an Elite Infantry in India?
@The-Captain Question - If Combat Engineers use rail movement can they still use their special abilities such as making a landing strip?
@The-Captain Yes, that’s a nice setup!
@The-Captain Yes, we did remember the tank in the Urals.
We do have the Timetable next to the army boards, it’s just a matter of remembering to look at it. I usually announce the new rules that come in effect each turn, but not sure I did that in Early 1942.
@The-Captain CORRECTION!
I just talked with the Soviet player and he thought he could make them anytime starting in Early 1942, and overlooked the fact that he could ONLY make them in Early 1942.
@The-Captain
No, these pictures are from when we paused the game at the end of Round 5 (after France) - Early 1942. We’re about to start Late 1942.
No, surprisingly the Soviets didn’t produce Soviet Guard Infantry units.
Wow, the Soviet player was so focused on Paratroopers and the front line that he totally forgot about the Red Army Conscription rule. Being Japan, I wasn’t paying too close attention to what the Soviet player was doing if it didn’t involve my side of the world. Being a friendly game, I would have no problem with allowing him to do this in Round 6 unless you think it would disrupt game balance.
Ugh, thank you for that reminder, Captain, we were discussing that bonus a turn or two prior but I just confirmed that he didn’t take that bonus. We’ll let him do it before Germany takes his turn. I was focused on the Pacific side and didn’t pay close attention when Germany launched his attack.
Yes - big turn coming up for Germany!

@The-Captain Thank you! I’m surprised you removed Rockets from the chart. We’re starting a game Saturday with ALL of the optional rules (except Bidding & 1939) - it should be fun!
@The-Captain Hello, do you have an updated Timetable chart to help keep track of when all these new Optional Rules (self propelled artillery, Desert Army, etc…) come into play?
@The-Captain
I have a question about the Naval Mines. Apologies if this has been answered before, it’s so hard to find things because the threads are so long. It says that naval mines can be produced from game start, but Escorts don’t enter the game until Round 4. Is there another way to place mines before round 4? Have the Escort rules changed so they are now available at game start? Help!
Thank you!
@Pvt_Griff Gotcha, had to ask! We’re quite a drive from the cape, not too far from the NH border in central MA - Fitchburg.
@mkgionet Hey all, I’ve been super busy and don’t really have time to do a full game report, but here’s a quick synopsis of what transpired during Day 2 of continuing this modified Europe game.
Germany kept troops in place along the north and east coasts, fully expecting D-Day to come, but it never happened. Instead, the UK focused mostly om North Africa and USA focused on East Africa, Spain, and to a lesser extent Gibralter. Germany harassed the UK/USA navy in the English Channel to interfere with landing boats and bombardment for any amphibious assault that may take place. Troops marched relentlessly toward Moscow with heavy casualties on both sides. By the end of Day 2 Germany is sitting with a large force 2 territories away from the Russian capital with amassed Finnish troops ready to swoop in behind them. Russia has lost a lot of territory, but has a sizeable air force so it will take constant pressure for the Axis to keep advancing.
The UK & Italy built massive navies in the western med., with the UK and USA briefly taking Greece before Germany recaptured. On the last turn of the day Italy took a gamble and attacked the UK navy, earning a major victory. The UK has significant ground troops in Africa, but thier navy has been wiped out.
Gibralter has gone back and forth between sides, but neither side kept enough troops there to hold it for a full turn. Germany currently holds it, but fully expects to lose it shortly. Spain is divided with one half housing a large amount of Allied troops, and the other a large amount of Axis - big battle coming!
USA has a massive fleet sitting off Africa just waiting to get in the Med. Massive force in Western Africa that keeps advancing. Only thing Axis can do is slow them down. Another massive force on its way from Brazil. An Atom bomb has been built and is sitting in Greenland. Where will the Allies choose to drop it next turn?
France has helped with Africa and Spain as they are able. Romania has pushed Russia back slightly on the southern front, but doesn’t have the firepower to take important territories.
Will the USA & UK be able to put pressure on Germany before Moscow falls? We should find out on Day 3 - 8/30
@Pvt_Griff Hey there, this isn’t Griff Felt is it?
If so, that’s really cool, if not, it’s nice to connect with you. We play some in person A&A games in north central MA. If you’re ever interested in learning more, or joining us, let me know!
