I don’t think that Germany is overpowered in the game, I was just pointing out that they have a very large military buildup at the begginning of the game. They clearly need this in order take advantage of early game action. However, anyone who plays the Allies correctly should have a very good advantage against Germany starting in mid game.

Yes, a Stalingrad expansion would be sweet.

      @Ranor:

      LHTR 2.0 says to this:

“If the attacker has not withdrawn all units, defending submarines may submerge.”

This implies defending subs submerge after the attacker has chosen to either retreat (or submerge) or not.

(page 16 - Condition B) Defender withdraws subs by submerging)

Page 14 is more to the point.

It categorically states that the Attacker choses to press the attack or retreat BEFORE defending submarines chose to submerge or remain surfaced.

You know, I have to admit.  I’ve been cooling it a lot with Japan lately.  Racing out to take over the world looks great on paper, but you have no security on your lines of supply.

I’m also growing to like the Sinkiang or even Novosibirsk Industrial Complex with Japan.  Especially if Germany is getting hammered. (Since it helps you rebuild after an assault on Moscow.)

The idea being, Moscow falls to Japan, Berlin falls to America on the same round.  If Germany owns Caucasus, the allies would be silly to liberate it.  That means Japan could really use the extra 2 units right there in the red zone, and when they DO get Caucasus (if ever) it only helps them more.

Remember, you can always shut down your factories in the rear if they are no longer needed.  No rule that says you MUST use all your factories to their full output capacity, eh?

“Some” of us do. “Others” realize the importance of honest hard work and that some paperwork has to be done.

      ?

THis is  Ron Paul thread not a Stem Cell thread.

A mention of stem cells was relevant to point out position statements.  A debate on Stem Cells is NOT on topic.

Save it for the PD venue (I believe there was a link posted to one on another site when PD was shut down here)

BTW, that submarine does not become useless once the Germans lose the ability to win against the Allied navy/navies.

I like to send it to Southern Africa to ‘persuade’ Japan not to make a Brazil run, at least, force Japan to commit more to a Brazil run then what is normal and optimal.  It also keeps Japan honest by not leaving transports out there undefended.

And, finally, I’ve had a situation where Japan FORGOT the Russian submarine was down there by Madagascar and been able to attack his battleship and 3 transports with 3 fighters and a submarine. Odds are, he only gets one hit, you get 2, that’s a good trade!  Japanese transport which is useful for Russian submarine which is not so useful. (I actually got 3 hits to his 1 that time, but I was lucky.)

PACFLT is a modern Department of Defense acronym for PACific FLeeT

I think Pan-Atlantic Conference Flight Leadership and Tactics makes so much more sense.

He destroyed my navy on turn1, but I wish that I wouldve bought a carrier and pulled that.

Ive only tried Sea Lion once, and it succeeded.  Its all about opportunities like that.  I always put myself in a position to try it on turn 2 just in case.

Africa is not critical if the Axis is doing an “aimed spear” at Russia and can slow the Allied landings by a turn (usually throurgh AF threat to their fleet).  It is also contingent on Russia being afraid of a permanent loss of Caucuses (usually through a combined threat).  The “Aimed Spear” requires a strong Japan naval presence in the Indian Ocean immediately, which can mean risk from the USA in the Pacific if TOTAL naval dominance was not achieved via Pearl and the Pearl Counter.  It is also a risky attempt by Germany, since it involves a lot of ARM purchased on G1 (in advance of seeing the Allied moves that may or may not destroy the threat of an “aimed spear” attack).
