      @oztea:

      Sadly, in your scale shot (of all units) you left out an ottoman Sub.

      For SHAME!

      The map looks really sharp, but I’m still trying to figure out the point of having so much of Africa…  25ish IPCs over 20 or so territories feels like it might slow the game down.

      That said, I’m headed to go preorder my copy tonight!

      I’m kinda upset about not having unique sculpts. But more upset about not having bombers and Calvary.

      This. There are far too few unit types…

      I’m actually kind of excited about playing France.  It’ll be a nice change of pace, not being conquered by Nazis and all.  =)

    • Minefields

      Do transports have to roll against minefields as well?  That could make amphibious assaults a LOT more difficult if you could potentially lose several land units after committing to an attack…

    • RE: Preview 1: Setup & The Political Situation

      @Clyde85:

      Now don’t get me wrong, I know these games can’t be 100% historically accurate all the time, but other Axis&Allies games have gotten much closer then this one and it seems like they didn’t really even try.

      WW2 Axis & Allies games have been more historically accurate?  Most of the time, Japan’s already allowed to be at war with the Soviet Union, and usually goes through China in order to get to Moscow!  The East Indies and Borneo are worth more than India (!), and Germany’s economy is on more-or-less equal footing with the United States, among other things.

      Some historical accuracy must always be sacrificed for gameplay; the objective is not to preserve our history, but to present an entertaining board game.

      “Mechanized” infantry, anyone?  I mean, zombie Germans could DEFINITELY tilt the balance of power…

      Oh and no Mexico, which means there wasn’t a certain note sent that triggered the war.

      For the love of God, how will the war trigger?!

    • In Memory of Comrade Stalin

      Looks like they’re changing Volgograd back to its original name of Stalingrad in remembrance of the Russian turning point of WW2.

    • RE: G1 build to take the gateway to Africa for certain on G2

      UK can move the carrier off the coast of Egypt, thus providing a landing spot for the fighter. So, what DO you do when your battleship is sunk by 2 fighters and a bomber? =)

      Two questions:

      How are you handling the Eastern Front?  For example, are you taking Karelia?

      And how do you handle UK’s Indian fleet, should they come through the canal? They would have a carrier, cruiser, destroyer, two fighters.

      I do like the Atlantic moves, for the most part. I think I’d probably go with a sure thing and send both subs against the East Coast Americans. Maybe send 3 fighters against the cruiser, instead of 2?

      And I kinda like the idea of landing some fighters in Africa to help with the Egypt attack.

      Heh, my wife saw this episodes in reruns the other day and told me about it.

      She then asked me if I was a psychopath for playing as Germany all the time.  =)

    • Battleships

      So, I get that air superiority gained popularity over battleships in WW2, and I think A&A does a pretty good job of showing this (look at how many carriers are built vs. the number of battleships).

      However, in terms of gameplay, what would it take to make them viable purchases without breaking the game?

      ~18 IPC price tag?  16?
      ~able to take 3 hits?
      ~something else, like rolling two attacks?

      Interested in hearing your thoughts.

    • Adding Balance

      As this game seems to favor the Axis, what would you do to balance it out?

      Personally, I favor adding a UK DD to their carrier/fighter works wonders for giving the Allies a fighting chance in the Atlantic. Your thoughts?
