      You have interpreted the cm air-movement rule correctly but this is about ncm:
      Page 22 of the Europe rulebook:
      “You must have a carrier move, remain in place, or
      be mobilized (new carriers only) to pick up a fighter
      or tactical bomber that would end its noncombat
      movement in a sea zone. You can�t deliberately move
      an air unit out of range of a potential safe landing
      space.”

      Retreating beats getting crushed.  :-)
      I was also hoping to be able to discourage a German advance in force to NW Persia this turn but the failure of the British attack on Caucasus shot down that dream.  :cry:

      Yes but you ALSO have to rescue the plane if you can. The only time you can splash is if there is a blocker in the way and you are “creating” a landing spot by attacking the blocking fleet with a force that has no realistic chance of defeat it. Thus in the ncm, since you submarine didn’t defeat your opponents ‘Stack of DOOM’, your carrier can’t make it to the theoretical landing spot.
