    • RE: Grand Russian attack

      @Bashir:

The allies should only attack in Kwantung and in Manchuria if the United States builds an IC on Sinkang. Otherwise the Japanese counter attack is devastating…

They can take all their territory back in T1 and after that the game is pretty much over. The supply lines of the allies are way too long to keep the Japs at bay.

      Well said Bashir! 8)

      Russia must think DEFENSIVELY=SURVIVAL…

    • RE: Russian Newbie Needs Strategy Tips

      Well put Guess!

In addition, U.K. must destroy the German navy A.S.A.P. U.K. must also send both fighters to Karelia or Russia to help strenghten the defense.

It also helps if U.K. and/or the U.S.A. can eliminate Germany from Africa.

Also, if U.S.A. can ever capture Finland/Norway – this is a great place for U.S.A. to place an I.C. (even if it does only have an I.P.C. value of 2).

Just make sure you stack infantry with Russia!

    • RE: Best and Worst Expansions?

      In my opinion:

“World at War” is the best expansion for A&A, found at Xeno Games (www.xenogames.com). I also like the “A&A Accessories” & “Central Powers” Miniatures Expansion Sets by Table Tactics (www.tabletactics.com).

I especially like to combine the three and with a little rule variations (“House Rules”) – it doesn’t get any better!!

    • RE: Industrial Complex in India

      I agree with Bumatank.

I wouldn’t put an I.C. on India (on turn one) if U.K. This will surely be a target for Japan. If captured … Japan now has an I.C. in India – which can be DANGEROUS. Especially, if they also purchased one on Manchuria (on turn one). Two I.C.'s for Japan in Asia=No more Russia=Axis Victory.

    • RE: Japan Strat?

It is imperative to establish an I.C. on Asia A.S.A.P. and to eliminate any Allied (U.K. or U.S.A.) I.C. in Asia. I agree with cc strike as quickly as possible. If Russia falls … the game is typically over soon thereafter.

Asia is the key for Japan and anything else is just gravy!

Germany must do it’s part though – particularly capturing any nearby sea zones (i.e. U.K.) and taking Africa (very important).

    • RE: Heavy Bomber Limit(please, respond!)

I like the World at War rules for heavy bombers:

Each Nation cannot have more than two Heavy Bombers. They may be rebuilt if they are destroyed. Heavy bombers attack and bomb using three dice instead of one (except we play – only allowing them to roll two dice instead of three dice).

Heavy Bombers must be replenished after each use. It cost 5 IPC’s to re-arm a Heavy Bomber. Heavy Bombers are replenished at the start of the player’s turn, when the IPC’s are spent, and need not be at a factory.

Heavy Bombers are treated as normal bombers, if the 5 IPC point cost for re-arming is not paid.

Also, if you play the paratrooper rule:

Heavy Bombers may be used to transport two (2) Paratroop Units without having to pay the re-arming cost. However, the Heavy Bomber may only perform one Mission at a time. They cannot be used for a Bombing Mission and on the same Turn be used to transport Paratroopers.

    • RE: Can a Fighter attack a submarine thats stand alone??

Yes, that is correct – the sub cannot fire back and if it survives the first round of battle, it can retreat to another sea zone (if a friendly one exists).

Or, if you play the SS (submerging sub) House Rule, subs can submerge (turn on side to show submerged) after any round of attack. They surface (turn upright) after the attack is over.

    • RE: Brit CV and US FTR's

The U.S.A. fighters would move along with the U.K. aircraft carrier when it moves; however, they can’t fly out to attack on U.K.'s turn … but, they can fight normally if the carrier’s sea zone is attacked. If the U.K. carrier moves into an enemy sea zone to attack, the U.S.A. fighters can’t be part of the U.K. attack; although, they can be taken as losses – if U.S.A. agrees to sacrifice them.

    • RE: A game in the making….....

I’ve read the thread and think this new game idea sounds great!

      What countries does it include?

(United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, U.S.S.R., Japan, U.S.A., China, etc.)

How will neutral countries be incorporated? Any type of army to fight or just the traditional A&A I.P.C. fees?

Also, I would like to hear your ideas as to the special forces (infantry units) for each country.

Perhaps – Rangers, SS Troops, Red Guard, Marines … I like the guerilla unit idea as well.

Perhaps make the low-level U.S.A. infantry … National Guard?

Or instead of given each country’s special infantry a name – given them a special ability (such as the banzai attack for the Japanese

Some other ideas are wepon specialist (or variety) infantry units … such as – flamethrower, snipers (unless this will be guerillas), grenadiers, paratroopers, perhaps a medic of some sort?

      Just some ideas…

Not sure if some of these would be possible … but, I thought I’d try to help out with some different thoughts.

Also, besides having different levels of infantry … how about having heavy, medium and light armour and planes? Maybe some country-specific “special” units (such as – Russia having the T-34’s with superior attack & defense capabilities, U.K. having a special fighter unit to represent it’s “Royal” airforce, Germany’s Panzer tanks having 3 movement for it’s Blitzkrieg warfare, and the U.S. having a “heavy” transport ship … or something along those lines).

The more units, countries, etc. the better.

As turtle stated at the begining of the thread “bigger=better”.

One more suggestion – on the map size issue … how about offering the 1m X 1.7m map with the game and also offering a larger map as an enhancement for those who would like to purchase it (or perhaps giving the buyer an option with two different prices).

      Hope this helps some.

When and where is this going to be available?

      Keep up the good work!
