    • RE: Adding China…

      @waraxis:

      Good Idea MistaBiggs.

But I don’t recall the French Indo-China area belonging to the Chinese.
Japan controled most of the area in 1942 so I would leave it to Japan.

It is true that Japan quickly gained control of Northern French Indo-China (September 1940); however, the Burma Road or through French Indochina was a key supply route for China early in the war. Burma was the last coastal territory to be taken by Japan. Burma was not under Japanese controll until late May of 1942. So, technically - it would be alright to give Burma to China … especially if the starting period of this modified game was prior to 1942.

I am more concerned with giving the Chinese a fighting chance to survive and I’m not sure what else can be done to assist this.

    • RE: Adding China…

How about giving China the following territories:

      1. China (of course) - raise IPC value to 4
      2. French Indo-China Burma - IPC value of 3
      3. Sinkiang - raise IPC value to 3
      4. Add Mongolia - IPC value of 2

Could also alter Japan’s territories to make up for the lost IPC’s … something like the following:

      1. Change IPC value of Manchuria to 4
      2. Change IPC value of New Guinea to 2
      3. Change IPC value of Borneo Celebes to 2
      4. Change IPC value of Solomon Islands to 1
      5. Change IPC value of Caroline Islands to 1
      6. Change IPC value of Wake Island to 1

      Comments?

    • US IC in FIN/NOR

Is it a good idea for the US to place an IC in FIN/NOR?

    • RE: A&A lags

I’m not sure how to fix the lags; however, if you save frequently (like every turn) – then, once it starts to lag … exit the entire game – then, reopen it and load it back up. This will temp. fix it (until it starts to lag again). Sorry, that’s all the advise that I can give … but, does anyone else know a better remedy to this lagging effect???

    • RE: Favorite nations

Although I voted for Japan, I like playing with Germany and UK as well. I really don’t care for Russia nor USA. Both of the Axis countries are somewhat powerful at first and I really enjoy having the upper hand. UK is fun … once you (re)establish it’s navy.

    • RE: World at War

      Hello…

I have the W@W board game; however, I unfortunately haven’t been able to muster up a group of friends to play it yet – although, I have reviewed the rules a bit. Also, I am currently in the process of playing my first PBEM game (A&A), so I’m still learning the ropes a lil’ bit. I’m in if I won’t slow up things any and of course if additional players are still needed.

    • RE: Leap Frog

For the MOST PART you are correct …

In the above instances (that were clear on this issue) – it is legal; however, it is IMPORTANT to clarify this rule NOW … to prevent misinterpretation LATER.

There were portions that were unclear or omitted what other troops were attacking, such as the following – posted by you Guest (assuming you are the same Guest that I’m quoting from):

      @Anonymous:

Russia facing a large PE bid in Europe, taking F/N on R1 with its armour then extracting them on R2 back to Russia, after Ger has moved in force to Karelia on G1.

I don’t play AAE or AAP (as of yet anyways) and I’m with cc … I rarely use them in the orig. AA game (unless I’m desperate or just have extra money for some ODD reason).

    • RE: Leap Frog

According to the 2nd Edition Rules Clarification from Milton-Bradley … using the leap frog tactic is illegal, unless the territory that you retreat to also had at least one unit attacking. See below:

      Retreats

There are four big things to remember:
      1. Only an attacker can retreat.
      2. A retreat can be made only after a defender defends - after ANY round of combat.
      3. An attacker cannot retreat from NOTHING - that is, if all the defending units are destroyed in the embattled territory or sea zone, then the attacking forces are stuck there - no retreating allowed.
      4. Partial retreats are never allowed except for subs. All attacking units must retreat together BACK to one adjacent friendly territory from which any one of the attacking units came. What follows are special retreating issues with submarines and air units.
