The only KISS I know is Keep it Simple Stupid. I have no idea on the other.
EDIT: Hopefully you didn’t think I was calling YOU stupid, I was just telling you what it means. Figured I better clear that up before somebody gets upset.

RE: Question on transports/subsposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Seeing as how the planes and ships would move during combat move, I’m pretty sure that any attack on said SZ would cause all sea units to attack as well and prevent bombardment.

Acronyms?posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Is there a post somewhere which shows what all the different acronyms mean? It’s hard to follow posts when I don’t understand what any of it means. I’ve learned some of them but it seems everywhere I’m reading about BB, DD, CV, DEI, and all the such. If there’s a post which shows all these acronyms it would be appreciated. Thanks.

RE: Submarine FAQ Questionposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
again, it is in the rulebook which is a misprinted pile of garbage as we have learned. the errata has changed the way this plays.
The errata clarifies that you can’t attack the unaccompanied transports of powers you are not at war with. It still allows subs to attack the unaccompanied transports of powers you are at war with.
No that’s not the question at hand. Let me give you an example.
I have a Transport in SZ4 and a Battleship in SZ7. The enemy has a Sub in SZ8. The question is could you have the Transport and Battleship meet up in SZ8 then continue their move to SZ1, since the Battleship and Transport met up on that spot and therefore the Transport will be escorted, or since the Transport and Battleship STARTED in seperate SZ’s would the Sub get the surprise attack on the way to SZ1? -
RE: ANZAC Questionposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Does anyone have any advise for the ANZAC player of our next game?
Yeah, tell all your “extra” players to come over to my house. I can never find anyone to play! I have plenty of beer…
I hear that I don’t have anybody to play with either. Lol I don’t have plenty of beer, but that could be easily remedied. The main group I play with is in NE (which I’ll be moving back to soon) but even then it’s hard to get even 1 more person interested in playing. And I doubt I could convince ONLY one other person to play without a third.

RE: ANZAC infantry in Malayaposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
pretty sure by “occupy” to get the 5 IPC one time deal you have to have boots on the ground, not planes in the sky.
Well when planes land aren’t they considered to be on the ground and thus occupy? I could be totally wrong I’m just wanting to make sure I understand right.

RE: ANZAC infantry in Malayaposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
even if it moves into a territory in the non combat phase that was actually taken by another one of Allies previously, then the ANZAC player collects the one time 5 IPCs. I’m guessing that since air units can’t occupy territories, that they wouldn’t count for this
Air units can occupy territories they just can’t CAPTURE them. They can still land on any territory that was friendly to start the turn whether their own, or a power with whom they’re allied (assuming they can reach it with the correct number of movement).

RE: Getting extra pieces?posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
So I called, and the guy read my e-mail. The guy on the phone said he was sorry and that it’s right it didn’t seem that my e-mail wasn’t read and he understood why I would be upset about my response. He didn’t do much pretty much put a note on my account and told me to send a reply e-mail bringing up how the concerns in my e-mail weren’t actually addressed. He said that they stand by the amount of pieces in the set, and that behind his desk he’s pretty much powerless to do anything.

RE: Getting extra pieces?posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
when they send you a cut and paste reply, and obviously don’t pay attention to anything in your email, call them and say you have a problem w/a reply. They will ask for a ref #. Give it to them. Let them read it. Then say, So do was my message even read? Worked for me.
What’d they end up doing for you?

RE: Getting extra pieces?posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I got my response. I can tell it’s a cut and paste answer because it tells me how to get a new battle strip in Feb, (which I said I already am getting in the e-mail) and said nothing about the other concerns about the massive errata. It says they have no new Tac Bombers to send much like they did to most other people.

RE: ANZAC infantry in Malayaposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
it’s like in AA50 where you have Italians and Germans in Libya.
I’ve only ever played 1942. Waiting for a chance to play 1940.

RE: ANZAC infantry in Malayaposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I was just curious as to why there is an ANZAC infantry in Malaya which is controlled by the UK. Is this just to try to entice ANZAC to declare war on Japan, or some historical reason? Not that it bothers me it’s just really interesting.
Do you mean Malaya is controlled by the UK, or that the ANZAC infantry is controlled by the UK? I just checked the book and dont see any evidence of the latter. I just want make sure there isnt another detail that I’ve overlooked.
Malaya is controlled by the UK. There is one ANZAC infantry in Malaya to start the game. The ANZAC player still controls that one infantry I was just curious as to it’s relevence there. Thanks to those who answered.

Thanks that’s kind of worded oddly, but I understand now thanks. Lol on an unrelated note, I can’t help but notice that everybody who’s posted on this thread is either Artillery or Infantry. I say thank you to all of you Artillery who give us support in times of need.

Wow hell of an ambush indeed. So that guy is there to represent an ambush which happened a short time later? Okay I can dig that.

RE: US income questionposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Oh I read the rules wrong for that part. Okay the rules on page 8 say “The U.S. cannot attack Japan, disrupt Japanese convoys, or move units into China until either Japan provokes war with the U.S. or the U.S. declares war on Japan, whichever comes first.” Does that mean if U.S. declares war on Japan on US1 they can attack on US1 then collect wartime income, or that they have to wait until US2 to attack? And to “declare war” as U.S. do you just say “I declare war”?

RE: Getting extra pieces?posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
It very recently is no longer part of the forums.
Thanks for clarifying. Okay on the topic of the thread here’s the e-mail I sent to WotC.
To whom it may concern,
First of all let me say I’ve been a long time fan of Wizards of the Coast. I’ve spent a few hundred dollars, on Magic cards, and spent countless hours playing in the past, I own about 50 Forgotten Realms books, and I’ve read through a few of the manuals for Dungeons and Dragons. I also bought Axis and Allies Spring 1942 edition and loved it. I loved it so much that I went and bought the 1940 Pacific edition since I read it could be combined with the 1940 Europe edition when released. I was wary about paying such a high price but had faith in the product having read such great stuff on previous titles, and having such a great experience with one myself. When I opened the box I thought the board looked great, and that the seperate boxes were a welcome edition. I was a bit disappointed with how flimsy the battle board was but was able to accept that fully. When I discovered that the battle strip was the same as the 1942 edition and not for this one I was glad to find that those could be replaced and am already on the list to get a correct one. Some of the rules didn’t make sense to me, and I was baffled at how many errors were already found in the rules. I understand that some things are going to be wrong and accept that but the sheer number of things is just crazy to me. http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=16070 There is the website which shows the still unfinished errata. I don’t have access to a printer, nor do I want to pay the library per page or write down all of this by pen and paper. Is there any way those of us that already bought the game can get an updated version of the rulebook. I also understand that the setup has a few minor errors for the US, and ANZAC. How likely would it be to get replacement box tops, or at the very least two stickers with the correct set up for us to put on our boxes. Then I went to set up the game based on the correct set up and noticed that there only only 6 Tac Bombers and Mech Infantry units per power. UK and ANZAC I can kind of understand that for, and even maybe US, but Japan? You need to use almost all of the Tac Bombers in setup. I understand that you’re not going to give 1 unit type per territory per power, but 6 just seems a little short to me. The rules do say to write the unit on a piece of paper, but I don’t feel I should have to do that just because I want 7 or 8 territories with Mech, or Tac Bombers in them. I understand there’s production costs to consider, but there’s also the $90 price tag that those of us also have to consider. For that kind of money, I don’t think it’s too much to request the correct information. Once again I understand mistakes WILL happen, but I just don’t understand how this many mistakes could happen so soon. I originally planned on buying 1940 Europe, but first I need to know what the folks of WotC are doing for those of us fans who’ve supported your products through the years, and even those who are new to your products to keep us wanting to buy from you. Thank you for taking your time to read this and I anxiously await your resonse. -Mike-

RE: US income questionposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
- My understanding is they would collect the 40 IPCs at the end of the 3rd turn, making it spendable US4. That is the incentive to not attack the US on J3.
But if you collect income at the END of your turn, why would it matter if Japan attacks US during J3? If they don’t attack them J3, war is automatically declared US3. Even if they attack during J3 US still can’t collect the extra income until the end of their turn so they still couldn’t use it until US4. I’m pretty sure that’s how it works anyway.
